Chapter 213: Ten Billion Insect Swarm, 80 Million Gold-devouring Insects

The Cyan Profound Sect had numerous cultivation methods, but the very best were all Wood Attribute Cultivation Methods. Its Sect Protection Array, the Wood Array, was also based on the sect’s various top-tier Spirit Plants.

For example, the Wooden Cyan Light Trees right before him.

This grove of ancient trees appeared ordinary, but every single one was over a thousand years old. Their trunks were the color of cyan jade, and when stimulated by Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, their leaves would ripple with a water-like cyan halo. They served as the natural array cores and Energy Sources of the Wood Array.

Their root systems plunged deep into the earth, capable of converting the Power of Earth Veins into pure Wood Spiritual Qi that permeated the entire sect. Their tree cores were also the core materials for refining the Lifebound Magical Treasure, the Cyan Profound Sword. The leaves could assist in cultivation; truly, every part of the tree was a treasure.

The only drawback was that the Wooden Cyan Light Trees grew incredibly slowly. Even within the Cyan Profound Sect, there weren’t many fully mature ones, and quite a few had been destroyed in battle.

“The Wooden Cyan Light Tree, Iron Wire Vine, Vajra Bamboo, Mind-Bending Mushroom… The Cyan Profound Sect has many Spirit Plants on the level of natural treasures, all capable of absorbing Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi for their own use.

“If I analyze them and integrate their abilities into the Mimic Fungal Mat, I can enable the tens of thousands of miles of fungal mat to absorb Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

“Little by little, it will add up, and the Insect Swarm’s shortage of Primordial Power will be alleviated,” Qin Yu pondered.

The true reason the Insect Swarm could reproduce on a massive scale and cause its numbers to explode wildly was never from hunting Demon Fiends and wild beasts for their flesh and blood. Rather, it was because the Wilderness Mountain Range was covered by the Mimic Fungal Mat.

The fungal mat, stretching for tens of thousands of miles, absorbed sunlight, allowing the Insect Swarm to continuously gain Energy. Only then could the swarm’s numbers continue to skyrocket while remaining concealed. Therefore, the Mimic Fungal Mat could likewise absorb the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi drifting through the world!

Only in this way could the Insect Swarm incubate Tier Three units on a massive scale. Alternatively, the Insect Swarm needed to find more Primordial Stone Veins!

However, this world never lacked powerhouses. Almost all the Primordial Stone Veins had long been occupied by Major Sects and powerful factions, and the ones hidden in the wilderness were no exception. Qin Yu could rely on his status in the Demon Suppression Bureau to slaughter numerous Evil Demon Sects, but if he actually went on a rampage to massacre other sects, he would be the next one on the Demon Suppression Bureau’s wanted list. He wasn’t that foolish.

The current Insect Swarm was far from capable of confronting the Great Wei Dynasty. Thus, the best method was still to have the fungal mat absorb Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

“Upgrading the existing fungal mat system will require a hefty amount of resources, and the entire fungal mat absorbing Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi will be quite conspicuous,” Qin Yu muttered, feeling a headache coming on.

Over the past few days, the Insect Nest had long since finished analyzing these Spirit Plants within the Cyan Profound Sect. The Wooden Cyan Light Tree could efficiently convert, store, and release the Power of Earth Veins and the free-floating Primordial Qi in the air through its unique wooden structure and internal veins. Its root system was like a natural energy-absorbing and converting array, while its leaves were composite organs for releasing Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi and performing photosynthesis. The Insect Swarm could have the fungal mat simulate these processes.

However, comprehensively upgrading the massive fungal mat system that spanned tens of thousands of miles would require an astronomical amount of Energy and special minerals. It could only be transformed little by little!

The Cyan Profound Sect’s legacy, coupled with the recent gains from annihilating the Evil Demon strongholds, could support a portion of it. The transactions with the Demon Suppression Bureau and the Evil Suppression Bureau Army could also serve as a partial supplement. Yet, what could truly sustain the growth of the Insect Swarm’s numbers was the swarm’s own evolution!

HUM—

In an instant, Qin Yu’s consciousness moved through the Insect Swarm network. This time, however, it descended upon the Wilderness Mountain Range, specifically the Three Immortals Mountain Insect Nest Base.

This was the deepest part of the Wilderness Mountain Range. Ever since it had been occupied by the Insect Swarm, no other lifeform could get near this area. Absolutely no lifeform! Not even a flying bird or a mosquito!

All life had been completely converted into Insect Swarm units. The seemingly ordinary flowers, grass, trees, fish, insects, birds, and beasts had all become part of the swarm. At this moment, within the mist-shrouded Three Immortals Mountain Insect Nest Base, there were already over a hundred Wooden Cyan Light Trees, each a hundred meters tall, absorbing and exhaling Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

The entire mountain peak was enveloped by the Wood Array, which had been optimized by the Insect Swarm.

“If the number of Wooden Cyan Light Trees increases tenfold and they take root at various Array nodes, its Defense Power will reach its peak and operate at maximum capacity at all times.

“It really is a good thing,” Qin Yu mused.

Qin Yu’s consciousness looked down from above, surveying the entire base. At its center lay a massive Nurturing Pool—an ultra-large pool measuring a full fifteen hundred meters in length and width, with a depth of over five hundred meters. It was originally a small lake that had been modified to serve as the incubation base for the Insect Swarm’s large units. With this ultra-large Nurturing Pool, the incubation time for a Leviathan could be drastically reduced.

However, Qin Yu wasn’t looking at the Leviathan currently incubating within it, but rather at the tens of thousands of humanoid units. There were thirty thousand of them in various shapes and sizes. Some were even Three Heads and Six Arms giants that reached over thirty meters tall!

His gaze landed on a humanoid monster that stood nearly forty meters tall. Its entire body was covered in thick Scale Armor adorned with golden Secret Patterns. It possessed two monstrous Reaper’s Scythe claws and a pincer tail. This was the prototype of a large combat unit formed by combining his own bloodline with the bloodlines of the Thunder Beast and the Dragon Race, further enhanced by the Talent Secret Patterns of the Gold-devouring Insect.

In other words, it was the super combat form that the Insect Swarm had been researching from the very beginning—the Hive Tyrant Form!

“Although the Leviathan is massive in size and the power of its Main Cannon rivals the full-force strike of a Myriad Phenomena Realm cultivator, it can only serve as a mothership.

“The Thunder Beast is too clumsy and can only act as a battlefield destroyer unit.

“The Insect Swarm still needs a top-tier combat unit to fight powerful enemies on the battlefield and act as the battlefield commander,” Qin Yu concluded.
