Chapter 208 - 204: A Small Punishment

Chapter 208: Chapter 204: A Small Punishment

Zhou Jun heard about the West Spirit Mountain Temple and even made a special trip to see it, thinking another Lin Xian Village had appeared.

After coming back, he found Lin Feng and started complaining.

"That temple on West Spirit Mountain is such garbage. The internet really knows how to hype things up!"

Lin Feng put down the documents he was holding about building a fishery. "You actually believed it."

"Well, the news online sounded so miraculous, so I thought I’d go investigate.

But when I got there, I found it was just an ordinary temple. And that rock that supposedly looks like a Buddha? I didn’t see anything special about it."

"Oh? Did you see the Buddhist light, then?"

"If I’d actually seen it, I wouldn’t be complaining. There was nothing. Just a bunch of monks asking for money everywhere."

"Hasn’t anyone gone to investigate?"

Zhou Jun quickly took out his phone and started sending messages to ask around.

’Right. With a precedent like Lin Xian Village, another place with supernatural claims is bound to be investigated.’

"Damn! This online information is as ridiculous as a scam."

Lin Feng asked curiously, "So someone did investigate?"

"Yeah, and the investigation results are out. That golden light was just a reflection from a mirror.

What’s more, the monks claim the online information has nothing to do with them. They say it was all spread by netizens and they knew nothing about it.

They never admitted to seeing the golden light, much less promoted it.

Those bastards are so slippery, acting like it has nothing to do with them."

Lin Feng could only marvel at how clever the monks’ methods were, completely absolving themselves of any responsibility.

"Alright, don’t worry about them.

Brother Zhou, if I were to raise fish here, which kind has the highest nutritional value?"

"Raise fish? You mean in the valley? You can only raise freshwater fish there. Mandarin fish or perch, I’d say. They’re delicious and highly nutritious.

Of course, if you could raise eels or soft-shelled turtles, their value would be even higher."

Zhou Jun thought for a moment. Given the conditions of the body of water in the valley, raising eels and soft-shelled turtles was completely impossible.

’You can’t farm the eels, and if you raise the turtles, there’s no way to catch them.’

"Then let’s choose between mandarin fish and perch."

The geology department that came to investigate after the last incident had detailed data on the underwater conditions.

The lab in Lin Xian Village had this information. When the time comes, all they’d need to do is block the outlet with a fishing net.

This would also prevent fallen dead branches and leaves from clogging the outlet and causing the valley’s water level to rise.

Besides, with the Wharf’s special effect, he wouldn’t have to worry about the fish in the fishery escaping with the current.

After Zhou Jun left, Lin Feng opened his panel and began to study the village environment’s special effects.

Although he said he wouldn’t bother with the temple on West Spirit Mountain, he couldn’t let them take advantage of him.

Dragging the village’s coverage map, he quickly found the location of West Spirit Mountain.

Lin Feng thought for a moment, then directly removed that area from the village’s special attribute coverage zone.

Lin Feng had originally thought he would only have a chance to use this function when the village’s coverage area reached foreign lands.

Especially for countries like Japan and the Cosmic Country, which were always being provocative, to prevent them from enjoying the benefits.

He never expected that a place so close by would be the first to receive this treatment.

The moment Lin Feng confirmed the area and canceled the village’s special effect, the tourists visiting West Spirit Mountain instantly felt a change in the environment.

It was incredibly obvious. Because Lin Xian Village’s coverage extended for ten kilometers, anyone entering this zone could feel a distinct change in the environment.

Now that the environmental effect in this area was canceled—and instantly, at that—fine dust particles, which had previously settled, began to fill the air.

Moreover, the small animals in the vicinity began to quickly flee the area, running toward the outskirts of West Spirit Mountain’s peak.

"Ah! What’s going on? That clean environment is gone!"

"No way, did something happen in Lin Xian Village?"

"I feel a little unwell. What on earth happened?"

"..."

The tourists hurriedly took photos and posted about the situation online.

Some made phone calls to ask if there had been any changes over in Lin Xian Village.

But the answer they received was that Lin Xian Village’s environment hadn’t changed, and they were even asked if they had made a mistake.

Soon, someone discovered that the environment had only changed on the peak of West Spirit Mountain, in the area around the temple.

Outside this range, the environment returned to its purified state.

When this news spread online, it quickly went viral because it was so strange.

No other place had changed, only West Spirit Mountain. Everyone began to suspect that something was wrong on the mountain itself.

At this point, some netizens connected the rumors of monsters at the West Spirit Mountain Temple with the environmental change.

They claimed a monster might have appeared, polluting the air and making the environment worse.

Others said that the temple built on the mountain had ruined its feng shui, causing the environment to deteriorate.

Of course, there were also those who said the temple had offended the Land God Temple, and the Earth God was no longer blessing West Spirit Mountain, which was why that area could no longer enjoy the special environmental change.

The investigators who had just left West Spirit Mountain rushed back without a moment’s rest after hearing the news.

They found that the environment there had really reverted to its original state and were also very confused.

Because they discovered that once they were a certain distance away from the peak, the environment improved, but as soon as they entered the peak area, it worsened.

"Professor Zhang, this couldn’t really be because the mountain’s feng shui was destroyed, could it?"

If this had happened before, Professor Zhang would have definitely said, "Nonsense." But after the Lin Xian Village incident, these professors had all lost some of their confidence.

Especially when faced with such a mysterious event so close to Lin Xian Village.

"It might have had some influence, but the environment didn’t change right after the temple was built.

For it to change so suddenly now, and instantaneously at that, it doesn’t feel like the situation you described."

"Then how should we investigate?"

They had already determined that the temple on the mountain was just an ordinary one, and the online buzz was a publicity stunt by the monks to gain fame.

As for this kind of thing, as long as it wasn’t maliciously spreading feudal superstitions, they wouldn’t interfere.

Professor Zhang didn’t know what angle to investigate from either. This was too difficult for her.

"Hmm, first, investigate the specific details of the environmental change, as well as the scope of the affected area.

Then, investigate whether anything strange has occurred within this affected area."

’Actually,’ Professor Zhang felt it was a waste of time to investigate. ’The source is over at Lin Xian Village.

The problem here is likely the consequence of angering that person from Lin Xian Village.’

After the environmental change, the monks on the mountain knew they were in trouble.

Cultivating in such a wonderful environment, with a large number of tourists every day, had originally been a beautiful thing.

Their situation wasn’t much worse than Lin Xian Village’s, which had put them in a great mood.

After asking a few people, they found the answer online: the environment on the mountain peak where the temple was located had worsened.

The temple’s abbot knew this was bad. If the entire area had worsened, it wouldn’t have been a problem.

But now, only the West Spirit Mountain Temple area had degraded. The public opinion online would definitely not be good.

"Senior Brother, what do we do now?

People online are saying we offended the Earth God of Lin Xian Village, and that’s why the environment changed."

Because the environmental changes appeared at the same time as the Land God Temple, combined with the Earth God’s miraculous nature, many netizens believed the Earth God was responsible for the change.

"Amitabha. Don’t panic when things happen. It’s just a change in the environment.

Outside this area, the environment is just like this anyway."

"But tourists online are saying the Earth God despises our place, and that visiting here will bring bad luck."

They had just managed to make the temple popular after so much effort, and they hadn’t even enjoyed it for two days before a problem arose.

Moreover, if they couldn’t solve this problem, no more tourists would come.

"The one who tied the bell must be the one to untie it."

"Senior Brother, are you saying this matter is related to that person from Lin Xian Village?"

"Amitabha. All the changes here were caused by him.

Whether it’s related to him or not, if we want to solve it, we have to find him.

I’ll make a trip to Lin Xian Village first. We’ll talk more after I get back."

「In Lin Xian Village」 The people of Lin Xian Village soon learned what had happened on West Spirit Mountain.

"Sister Hu, do you think the boss did this?" Sun Lili asked in a low voice.

Her illness had mostly healed; she just needed to go for one consolidation treatment each day. She was currently studying under Hu Xia.

"Hmm, it seems like him, but at the same time, it doesn’t.

My brother went to see Lin Feng because of this, and he didn’t seem to care about the West Spirit Mountain Temple."

"Whether the boss did it or not, it serves them right. They were trying to ride our coattails to create hype."

"Their hype is useless anyway. It would only last for a short while.

Once tourists discovered that their place didn’t have the same miraculous phenomena as Lin Xian Village, the crowds would naturally disappear."

The situation in Lin Xian Village was impossible to replicate, unless you could create so many special things yourself.

「In Lin Feng’s small courtyard」 After the change on West Spirit Mountain, Hu Zhiming and Zhou Jun quickly rushed over.

"Brother Lin, did you do this?"

"Did I do what?" Lin Feng lifted his teacup and took a sip.

"The environmental change on West Spirit Mountain!"

Lin Feng pretended not to know. He took out his phone, glanced at it, and said, "I really don’t know the reason for that. I don’t even know why Lin Xian Village is the way it is."

Zhou Jun said, "You rascal. If you don’t want to say, then don’t say it.

But if their environment can’t be restored after something like this, their reputation will be ruined."

Lin Xian Village’s influence was too great. The tourists, in particular, all came because of it.

The news spreading online now was that the place had offended the Earth God of Lin Xian Village by building a temple.

Countless tourists had personally witnessed how miraculous the Earth God of Lin Xian Village was. Who would dare not to believe it?

Moreover, it wouldn’t matter as much if you weren’t used to it, but for those accustomed to this environment, returning to the world outside Lin Xian Village would make many feel a sense of discomfort.

The reason so many tourists wanted to live near Lin Xian Village was precisely because this special environment was truly so comfortable.

Apparently, the two of them weren’t the only ones curious about this incident.

Soon, people started sending him messages and calling to ask about it.

Lin Feng’s answer was the same as before. Whether they believed him or not, he claimed he didn’t know the reason.

At the same time, after this incident, many people were thankful that they hadn’t tried to seize control of Lin Xian Village.

No one was a fool. This incident was definitely related to Lin Feng.

Since he could even control environmental changes, who would dare say he couldn’t control the other special phenomena in Lin Xian Village?

Especially the situation with the Earth God. If Lin Feng could really control that, then he was someone you absolutely could not afford to offend.

If you offended him and he afflicted you with that kind of bad luck, you wouldn’t survive a single day.

You could break your leg just by walking, or drown just by drinking water.

Lin Feng hadn’t expected that his casual action, taken simply because he was disgusted, would have such an effect.

Originally, some resentful people were still scheming to take over Lin Xian Village. After this incident, they were all scared out of their wits.

When he heard Hu Zhiming run over and say that the group of monks had come looking for him, Lin Feng was a little speechless.

"How do those monks have the face to come here?"

"Brother Lin, they don’t care about face. If this isn’t resolved, their temple is finished.

I heard they spent a lot of money to get that temple built in such a short time.

It’s a shame our geographical environment in Lin Xian Village can’t compare to theirs, otherwise we could also build things quickly."

The buildings at the foot of the mountain in Lin Xian Village were built quickly because the terrain was better, allowing for the use of heavy machinery.

But it was impossible on the mountain itself. Heavy machinery couldn’t get up there; even cement mixers couldn’t get in.

This was why the Academy was built quickly, while the Research Institute and the Folk Workshop were slow, to say nothing of the Mountain God Temple.
