Rural Farming: My Buildings Can Be Upgraded
Chapter 83 - 82: Foreign Archer
Chapter 83: Chapter 82: Foreign Archer
「On Saturday,」 Lin Xian Village’s Bow and Arrow competition was held as scheduled. However, not many tourists participated, mostly because it was organized on such short notice.
Lin Feng turned to Hu Xia beside him and asked, "What did Zheng Kang say? Is that Olympic champion going to come?"
"He said he can’t make it. He has another engagement. But a few foreign archers are coming today."
Hu Xia had barely finished speaking when Lin Feng saw Zheng Kang walking toward them, leading several foreigners carrying bow cases.
"Come, let me make some introductions. This is the boss of Lin Xian Village, and his Bow Skill is incredible.
This is Peter. This is Alexander—you can call him Da Shan. And these two are Anna and Xue Li."
"Hello. I hear you’re very good. I’d like to challenge you to a match."
Peter held up his phone, pointing to a video he was playing. It was the clip of Lin Feng’s archery from the other day.
"My skills aren’t anything special, but if you want to compete, we can give it a try later."
The man only knew a few simple phrases in Chinese, but he used a translation app on his phone, so communication wasn’t an issue.
Alexander was from Russia, Peter was from Great Britain, and Anna and Xue Li were from the United States.
Zheng Kang privately told him that they were all members of an international hunting club. Although they weren’t the top hunters in the club, their skills were still very impressive.
They had come this time because they’d seen the video of the Arrow Tower. It made them extremely curious, so they contacted him.
Lin Feng soon noticed that, with the exception of Alexander, Peter and the two women seemed to look down on Zheng Kang and his group.
While Zheng Kang’s group was competing, they merely shot them a few casual glances before sitting down to chat amongst themselves.
Alexander, on the other hand, was quite enthusiastic. After trying out the Arrow Tower, he shot a few arrows himself and even started teaching some of the nearby tourists how to shoot.
Then again, he couldn’t really blame them. ’Judging by the standards of the Bow and Arrow knowledge he had inherited, half the archers in Zheng Kang’s club were quite amateurish.’
A little while later, Zheng Kang ran over, looking dejected. "If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have brought them here during the competition."
"You really didn’t think this through."
"I didn’t expect this to happen. You should go up in a little while and put on a good show for us."
Lin Feng replied, "I’m fine with stationary targets, but I haven’t practiced with your moving ones."
The moving targets they used weren’t targets that moved along the ground. Instead, a device launched soccer-ball-sized cardboard discs into the air for people to shoot.
’If I could practice for a bit, it wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s hard to say right now.’
"You’re still better than us! As for that stationary target shot you made last time, you could count the number of people who can do that on one hand."
Zheng Kang wasn’t just blowing smoke; they really couldn’t do it. Just hitting the target at three hundred meters was considered impressive, let alone scoring a bullseye.
Just then, a tourist came over and said, "Boss Lin, those foreigners over there are badmouthing you. They’re saying your video is fake and that people from our country love to fake things."
Lin Feng glanced toward Peter and saw him looking back. The two foreign women were laughing, clearly amused by whatever he was saying.
Alexander suddenly ran over. "Boss Lin, can we have a match? Peter over there doesn’t believe you can actually shoot at the level shown in your video.
But I believe it. I can tell from the video that your technique is excellent and your form is very professional."
"Alright. Once they’re finished, I’ll have a match with you. However, I’ve never tried the moving targets before, so I’ll need a moment to get the feel for it."
"That’s no problem. We can stick to stationary targets."
Once he had Lin Feng’s agreement, he ran back to Peter to explain the situation.
"That Alexander is a good guy. Seems really genuine."
"He really is. He’s very straightforward, none of that beating around the bush."
After the preliminary round for Zheng Kang’s group ended, Lin Feng walked over to the competition grounds with Alexander and the others.
The previous rounds had been at distances of 30, 40, and 50 meters, which were no challenge at all for Lin Feng.
Seeing Peter eager to go, Lin Feng said, "Why don’t we go straight to the 100, 200, and 300-meter targets?"
Alexander was visibly stunned when he heard Lin Feng’s suggestion and looked over at Peter.
Peter glanced at the two women, then back at Lin Feng. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally nodded.
He didn’t believe Lin Feng could hit a target 100 meters away; you could barely even see the target at 50 meters, let alone 100. It was precisely why he was so sure the video had been faked.
"Do you want to go first, or should I?"
Peter didn’t hesitate to let Lin Feng go first. He knew that even with the enhanced vision from the Arrow Tower, hitting a target at 100 meters was extremely difficult. At 300 meters, it was purely a matter of luck.
Lin Feng didn’t stand on ceremony. He picked up a 65-pound bow and casually loosed an arrow.
A crowd of people raised their binoculars and stared at the arrow, dead center in the bullseye. Even for those who had seen it before, the sight was still breathtaking.
He didn’t pause. He immediately followed up with shots at the 200 and 300-meter targets, one right after the other.
Alexander lowered his binoculars and gave Lin Feng a thumbs-up. ’That’s just incredible.’
He didn’t even bother competing anymore. He tried drawing a bow and shooting an arrow himself. At 100 meters, his shot hit the target, but only on the very edge.
After making some adjustments, he focused, calmed his breathing, and tried again. This time was better; it wasn’t too far from the bullseye.
When he attempted the 200-meter target, it took him five shots just to get one arrow on the board. He was no match for Lin Feng.
As for Peter, after attempting a single shot, he clutched his arm and claimed he had an injury and couldn’t continue shooting.
The two women also gave it a try, then immediately ran over to crowd around Lin Feng, asking him for archery tips and how he was able to do it.
Alexander invited Lin Feng to join their hunting club, but Lin Feng refused. He didn’t have time for hunting trips.
Peter left by himself shortly after. The remaining three began to explore Lin Xian Village, filming plenty of videos as they went.
The three of them were minor influencers on foreign websites, so their videos served as free international promotion for Lin Xian Village.
This also led to an increase in foreign tourists visiting Lin Xian Village, drawn by its growing reputation.
After leaving the Bow and Arrow competition, Lin Feng was about to head to North Mountain to check on the progress of the land clearing when Hu Zhiming stopped him.
"Brother Lin! Brother Lin! Quick, come look outside! There are tons of squirrels and other small animals all around the village!"
"Small animals?"
He glanced at his notifications and saw no warning about a large animal invasion. Puzzled, he walked toward the edge of the village.
He saw a large number of tourists gathered at the village perimeter, filming the small animals with their phones. Some were even feeding the squirrels.
There were indeed a lot more small animals. Looking into the woods, he could see many of them building nests.
"Look! The woods over there are full of birds!"
Lin Feng looked west, in the direction he was pointing. Flocks of birds were flitting about in the treetops, apparently also looking for places to build their nests.
Clearly, this was another effect of the purified air. The improved environment was causing a massive migration of animals toward Lin Xian Village.
’The dangers in the surrounding wilderness are forcing these small animals to migrate toward Lin Xian Village. This is not necessarily a good thing.’
’The dangerous predators that hunt them will surely follow them here in search of food.’
’Huh! A quest just triggered. I never expected a temporary mission to appear under these circumstances.’
