Chapter 398 A Skill Capable of Destroying Mountains (P-2)

Ryan decided to see the obstacle for himself before answering. He walked to the edge of his castle’s mountain and looked in the direction Elric was pointing a few seconds ago.

There certainly was a mountain planted right in front of them. It stood not very far from the town, about 500 meters away, and measured approximately 3,500 meters above sea level.

Seeing the size of that mass of rock and snow, it was easy to understand why they considered it such an obstacle to the megacity’s development. Behind him, Elric spoke again to clarify how long it would take them to clear the area.

"Although... using all of our elven skills, it will take us at least a month to eliminate it completely," Elric added prudently.

Ryan kept his eyes on the snowy summit while calculating the time the crews would waste working on that rock for four straight weeks.

"A month, huh? So, what you are saying is that mountain is in your way, right?" Ryan murmured, turning his head slightly to confirm it with the manager.

He confirmed immediately with a quick nod, relieved that his lord understood the terrain problem.

"Yes, Your Majesty. If you give us permission, then we will work very hard to remove it," Elric assured with determination.

Ryan looked again at the mountain in front of the town. Letting the elves spend an entire month wearing themselves out on that rock when he had a few free minutes seemed like a waste of time and manpower.

’I suppose I could do it,’ he thought.

Without any prior explanations, he activated his relic, the magical inventory, and pulled his massive boomerang from it. The weapon appeared in his hands instantly, drawing the gazes of everyone present in the courtyard.

Alicia looked at him a bit surprised upon seeing him pull out his weapon in the middle of a chat about construction. At the same time, Chloe and Iris stepped even closer to observe what he would do, while Lise, upon seeing her master intended to use his weapon, moved a little away from Ryan.

"Separation," Ryan pronounced, dividing his boomerang into two halves, like enormous swords.

Further back, William and his companions, upon seeing Ryan’s weapon and feeling the energy it emitted on its own, looked toward the edge with genuine surprise.

"What do you intend to do?" William asked, furrowing his brow without taking his eyes off him.

Ryan did not stop to answer him with words and fixed his gaze on the mountain in front of him. He gripped the weapon firmly and swung it very hard to the side, kicking up a gust that swept the ground and ended up clearing all the snow from the place.

’This will be the first time I test my new weapon. Though I am going to hold back a lot so as not to cause disasters.’

Ryan gripped both halves tightly and concentrated his energy into them.

Instantly, black energy burst from the two blades and intertwined with a violet edge that covered them from tip to tip. The pressure released was so heavy that the entire castle began to vibrate beneath their feet, and the windows shattered one after another with the crash of broken glass.

The change in the atmosphere froze those watching from behind.

"That energy..." Alina murmured in a whisper, stepping back without realizing her legs were moving on their own in the face of danger.

"That’s not possible..." Delia managed to say beside her, so overwhelmed by what she had in front of her that she couldn’t finish the sentence.

William stood motionless in his spot, holding his breath with his eyes fixed on the weapon, surprised to see the amount of mana Ryan was gathering in the two blades, and the worst part was that this flow kept growing second by second.

Lise, who was still too close to his back for her own well-being, felt the pressure on her skin, let go of Ryan entirely, and backed away several meters seeking a safe distance.

"Aww, young master... so much power, such delicious energy..." Lise said quietly from afar, seeing it wasn’t the time to ask for food.

At the edge of the precipice, Ryan raised his arms above his head preparing the strike. The energy accumulated in the blades became so dense that the ground beneath his feet began to crack in several directions and even the air around them stopped moving.

Ryan invoked one of his skills in a low voice.

And then he slashed downward with force.

"Heavy Symbol."

A massive wave shot out from the two crossed blades, black in the center and with a well-defined violet edge against the sky. The slash cut the air in an X shape and crossed the 500 meters separating him from the mountain in an instant.

Immediately came a roar that shook the entire castle from its base to its walls. The ground trembled with such force that the town guards lost their balance and fell sitting at their posts, while in the distance, birds flew out of the forests in flocks fleeing the noise.

The wave struck the 3,500-meter mountain head-on without the rock managing to stop it for even a second. The energy pierced through it from one side to the other and continued straight toward the horizon until it was lost in the distance, laying waste to everything in its path.

Everyone in the courtyard stood in silence, looking straight ahead without even daring to blink.

For a second it seemed the summit resisted, but soon a black line appeared in the center of the mountain, from top to bottom, and gradually widened. The top part lost its support and began to slide slowly to one side, until the rest came crashing down all at once.

There were no loose rocks left to clear. The entire mountain crumbled into black and violet dust that rose toward the sky in a massive cloud, and when the cold wind finally dispersed it, there was nothing left in front of the town.

Where a three-and-a-half-kilometer wall of rock had once stood, now there was only a clear sky and an enormous trench in the ground that faded into the distance.

Behind him, everyone present remained rooted to their spots, unable to close their mouths at what they had just witnessed. Neither Elric, nor Alicia, nor William’s group could articulate a single syllable facing that empty landscape.

Ryan himself blinked a couple of times looking at the open trench in the earth, just as surprised as the rest by the result of his own attack.

’What the hell? And to think that I still haven’t distributed the debt points I’ve earned... I’m sure I didn’t even use 30% of my power. I thought I would break it with about twenty attacks... but just one?’

Ryan sighed with a bitter smile upon seeing their expressions and realizing how much chaos he had caused in the castle. Demons from the castle and elves from the town were coming out of their homes, surprised by the roar they had just heard.

Seeing that they remained silent, still in shock, Ryan turned around again to observe the massive trench he had left behind. At the end of the day, they wanted the mountain to disappear and it was undoubtedly something he had achieved.

With that in mind, he decided to take advantage of the time to apply his newly earned debt points so far.

"Status."
