Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings

Chapter 444: Where Do We Start From?

The thought should have terrified her. Should have raised a thousand questions about what was possible and what the implications were.

But instead it just made her feel....less alone.

Lilith forced herself out of bed despite the soreness and made her way to the bathroom.

***

A hot shower helped ease some of the ache in her muscles. She stood under the spray for longer than necessary, letting the heat seep into her body while her mind raced.

The witches’ warning from yesterday still echoed in her head.

Thalia is coming. Other covens are mobilizing. You have weeks at best before threats arrive in force.

And the binding covenant. The debt she owed for her own resurrection. The price Thalia would demand when she decided Lilith was ready.

Lilith needed to be stronger. Needed to understand the power she carried. Needed to be able to defend herself when the supernatural world came calling.

She finished her shower and dressed quickly in training clothes.....loose pants, fitted shirt, boots that would give her traction if she needed to move fast.

When she emerged from her room, the estate was already alive with activity. Pack members moving through corridors. Warriors conducting morning drills in the training yards. The organized efficiency of a pack preparing for potential war.

***

Lilith made her way downstairs and found Victoria and Elena already waiting in what had been converted into a makeshift training room.

It was a large space on the ground floor, formerly a ballroom or gathering hall. Now the furniture had been cleared out. Protective wards shimmered along the walls. The floor was marked with circles and symbols Lilith didn’t fully recognize.

Victoria and Elena both looked up when Lilith entered.

"Good," Elena said. "You’re awake. We were about to come get you."

"I’m ready to start," Lilith said without preamble. "If Thalia is coming, if threats are mobilizing, I need to be stronger. I need to understand what I can do. So train me. Now."

Victoria’s expression was complicated. Relief and worry mixed together. "Lilith, are you sure? After everything yesterday.....the revelation about the covenant, the witches’ warning....you should take time to process."

"I don’t have time to process," Lilith interrupted. "I have time to train. To prepare. To make sure that when Thalia arrives, I’m powerful enough to break whatever binding she placed on me."

Elena studied her for a long moment. Then she nodded. "Alright. But Lilith....we start slowly. Your power is unprecedented. We need to understand it before we push it."

"Fine," Lilith said. "Where do we start?"

"Here," Elena said, gesturing to one of the circles marked on the floor. "Stand in the center. Close your eyes. And reach for your magic."

Lilith moved to the circle and did as instructed.

She closed her eyes and reached inward. Toward the dual currents of power she had felt since waking from resurrection.

Life magic and death magic. Light and dark. Two opposing forces that should cancel each other out but instead amplified each other.

"Can you feel them?" Elena asked. "The two distinct sources?"

"Yes," Lilith confirmed. "One warm. One cold. Both mine but different."

"Good," Elena said. "Now try to separate them. Pull on the life magic only. Leave the death magic dormant."

Lilith focused on the warm current. The green light that represented growth and healing and living things.

She reached for it carefully. Trying to isolate it from the cold darkness underneath.

The moment she touched the life magic, both forces surged.

Not separately. Together. Intertwined so thoroughly that pulling on one activated the other automatically.

Lilith’s eyes flew open as power exploded from her.

Green and black light blazing. The protective wards along the walls flaring bright as they struggled to contain the surge.

Plants erupted through the floorboards. Vines crawling up the walls. Flowers blooming impossibly fast.

And simultaneously.....

The wooden floor beneath her feet aged. Cracked. Sections of it rotting and collapsing into decay.

"Pull it back!" Victoria shouted. "Lilith, pull it back!"

Lilith tried. Desperately tried to rein in the power.

But it was like trying to stop a flood with her bare hands. The magic kept pouring out. Kept responding to her attempt at control by surging harder.

Elena moved forward quickly. Her hands glowing with white light. She placed her palms on Lilith’s shoulders and pushed calming energy through the contact.

Immediately, Lilith’s magic responded. Calming. Retreating back into her core.

The dual forces faded. The room fell still.

Lilith collapsed to her knees, gasping.

"What happened?" Victoria demanded. "Why couldn’t you separate them?"

Elena helped Lilith to her feet, her expression grave. "Because they’re not separate anymore. The life magic and death magic aren’t two distinct sources that happen to coexist. They’re woven together. Intertwined at a fundamental level. Pulling on one activates the other automatically."

"That shouldn’t be possible," Victoria said.

"It shouldn’t," Elena agreed. "But the Veil essence changed the rules. It merged opposing forces in ways that break every law of magic we understand. Lilith....you can’t separate them because they’re the same power now. Two sides of one coin. Life and death unified."

Lilith looked down at her hands. They were trembling. "So what does that mean? I can’t control them individually?"

"It means we need to change our approach," Elena said. "We can’t teach you to wield life magic and death magic separately. We need to teach you to wield them together. As one unified force."

"How?" Lilith asked.

"I don’t know yet," Elena admitted. "This is unprecedented. But we’ll figure it out."

Victoria was staring at the destroyed sections of floor. At the plants still growing through cracks. At the evidence of Lilith’s explosive power.

"There’s something else," Victoria said quietly. "Something wrong."

"What?" Lilith asked.

Victoria moved closer and placed her hand on Lilith’s chest. Right over her heart where the magic pooled.

Her expression shifted to alarm.

"Your power is growing," Victoria said. "Actively expanding. It’s stronger than it was yesterday. Significantly stronger."

"That’s impossible," Elena said. "Magical reserves don’t increase that fast naturally. It takes years of practice and development to expand...."

"This isn’t natural," Victoria interrupted. "The Veil essence isn’t dormant inside her. It’s active. Growing. Feeding on..." She stopped. "I don’t know what it’s feeding on. Her emotions? Her magical practice? The bonds? But it’s definitely expanding."
