Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 457: Nicholas, Can You Hear Me?
"Or if we’ve been creating ghosts out of grief," Lucian said quietly.
But even he looked hopeful. Like he desperately wanted to be wrong. Like he wanted more than anything for his brother to still exist somewhere.

They left Elena to rest. Moving out into the hallway together.
The medical wing was quiet. Morning light streaming through windows. The estate slowly returning to life after yesterday’s devastation.
Sebastian took Lilith’s hand. "Whatever happens with the ritual...whether Nicholas appears or not....we’ll face it together."
"Together," Lucian agreed. He took her other hand. "All of us."
Lilith squeezed both their hands.
Two days.
Two days until they attempted something unprecedented.
Two days until they either saw Nicholas again....
Or learned to finally let him go.

*TWO DAYS LATER*
Two days felt like an eternity.
Lilith spent them training with Victoria and Elena....pushing her dual magic harder, trying to achieve better control, preparing for whatever threats were coming. But her mind was elsewhere. Focused on the ritual. On the possibility that Nicholas might actually appear. That she might see him. Hear his voice.
That he might not be as gone as they thought.
Sebastian and Lucian were equally distracted. Going through the motions of pack leadership, organizing funerals, rebuilding damaged sections of the estate, preparing defenses for the next attack....but clearly somewhere else mentally.
All of them waiting. Hoping. Terrified of being disappointed.
The evening of the ritual arrived with grey skies and the scent of coming rain.
Elena had chosen the library for the ritual space. The room where Lilith had destroyed furniture during her argument with the Alphas had been cleared and cleaned. Now a large ritual circle dominated the center....drawn in chalk and salt, marked with symbols Lilith recognized from death magic and life magic traditions combined.
Candles surrounded the circle. Dozens of them. Their flames dancing despite the still air.
Elena stood at the northern point of the circle. Already looking exhausted despite not having started yet. Two days of recovery wasn’t enough. Not for what they were about to attempt.
But she was here. Ready. Determined to try.
Victoria was at the southern point. Her hands already glowing faintly with green death magic. The corruption visible through her skin....black veins spreading like cracks through porcelain.
Sebastian and Lucian stood at the eastern and western points respectively. Both of them wearing expressions that were equal parts hope and terror.
And Lilith....
Lilith stood in the center of the circle. The anchor point. The connection between the living world and the Veil space where Nicholas existed.
"Everyone understands the risks?" Elena asked. "This ritual will pull on Lilith’s connection to both the Veil and the bonds. It’s going to be intense. Possibly painful. And if something goes wrong, if the Veil entity notices what we’re doing, if Nicholas’s consciousness is too fragmented to respond...we stop immediately. Understood?"
Everyone nodded.
"We have thirty minutes," Elena continued. "That’s how long I can sustain the ritual circle. After that, we have to let Nicholas go or risk permanent damage to the bonds. So use the time wisely. Ask what you need to ask. Say what you need to say. But don’t waste time on pleasantries."
Lilith felt her heart pounding so hard she thought it might break through her ribs.
"I’m ready," Lilith said.
Elena looked at Victoria. "Death magic component?"
Victoria raised her hands. Green light blazed from her palms and poured into the ritual circle. The symbols glowing. The candle flames turning emerald.
"Life magic component," Elena said. She raised her own hands and white light joined Victoria’s green. The two forces intertwining around the circle’s edge.
"Bond anchors," Elena said, looking at Sebastian and Lucian. "Think of Nicholas. Your connection to him. Your love. Your grief. Channel everything you feel through the bonds toward Lilith."
Both Alphas closed their eyes.
Lilith felt the bonds pulse. Gold light from Sebastian. Bronze from Lucian. Both flowing through the connections linking them to her.
And in the empty space where Nicholas’s bond used to be....
A flicker. Faint. Silver light responding to the pull.
"Lilith," Elena said. "Reach for the Veil. Open the door inside yourself. Let Nicholas’s consciousness know you’re calling for him."
Lilith closed her eyes and reached inward.
Past her dual magic. Past the surface layer of power. Down into the core where the Veil essence resided.
The grey opened immediately.
Lilith’s consciousness plunged into that space, still standing physically in the ritual circle but mentally existing in the Veil itself.
Grey expanse. Endless. Formless. The space between life and death where lost souls wandered.
"Nicholas," Lilith called. Her voice echoing strangely in the nothing. "Nicholas, can you hear me?"
Silence.
Just the grey and the distant sound of souls murmuring in languages she couldn’t understand.
"Nicholas!" Lilith called again. Louder. Desperate. "Please. I’m here. We’re all here. We’re trying to reach you. Please answer."
Movement in the grey.
A figure forming. Solidifying. Walking toward her through the nothing.
Nicholas.
He looked exactly as she remembered. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Grey eyes calm and focused. Alpha Prime radiating authority even here in death.
Except he was translucent. Ghostly. She could see through him to the grey nothing beyond.
"Lilith," Nicholas said. His voice clear. Real. "You actually did it. You opened a door."
Lilith wanted to run to him. To throw herself into his arms. But she didn’t know if she could touch him here. Didn’t know what was possible.
"Elena created a ritual," Lilith said. Her voice shaking. "To contact you. To see if you’re really here. And Nicholas....you’re here. You’re conscious. You’re aware."
"I told you I never left," Nicholas said. He moved closer. "The bonds held onto me even after the entity consumed my body. My consciousness survived in the connection we share. I’ve been reaching for you every chance I get."
"The phantom touches," Lilith said. "The cool hands. The invisible presence. That was really you?"
"All of it," Nicholas confirmed. "I can’t manifest physically in the mortal realm. But through the bonds....through your connection to the Veil....I can reach through. Touch you. Help you when you need it."
Tears were streaming down Lilith’s face now. "I’ve missed you so much."
