Sage of Humanity
Chapter 2215 - 2213: Chains of Life
The chains that had just appeared slowly disappeared, but Dark Butterfly could feel that although the chains had vanished, her close connection with Lu Ye had not been severed.
This was originally the intention behind her use of the Divine Origin Illusory Sea Technique and also the mark of the bond between them, but at this moment, she couldn't feel any happiness.
Just from the feeling earlier, she could deduce that those chains... had a big issue!
"What on earth is this?" she asked coldly. Even at the peak of Dao Fusion, knowledgeable and experienced, she had never seen something so bizarre.
Lu Ye looked at her calmly: "Chains of Life! Little Butterfly, from now on, we share both blessings and misfortunes, life and death. We will never separate again. Are you happy?"
Dark Butterfly's expression changed dramatically, recalling the sensation after injuring Lu Ye, her expression became poignant. She already sensed the power of the strange Dao Runes but couldn't quite believe it. After a moment of thought, she said with a cold face: "Are you fooling me?"
"You know in your heart whether I'm fooling you or not," Lu Ye looked at her provocatively: "Do you want to try again?"
Saying this, he flipped his hand, and a long saber appeared, not a real saber, but one condensed from Soul Power. He turned the blade towards his soul body, ready to stab!
"Stop!" Little Butterfly shouted, flashing in front of him, grabbing his wrist.
The sensation earlier made her understand that indeed half of Lu Ye's injuries would transfer to her, so she truly didn't dare let Lu Ye continue recklessly.
She was at the peak of Dao Fusion, her single existence concerned the course of battles in the entire war zone; how could an Enter the Path be compared to her?
With them so close, Lu Ye looked at her with a half-smile.
Dark Butterfly's expression fluctuated, after a while, she gritted her teeth and said: "What exactly do you want?"
Lu Ye said lightly: "That question should be asked of you! Everyone has their secrets; if you don't probe mine, then it's easy to talk, but if you insist, then we'd rather go down together. Me being an Enter the Path compared to you at Peak Dao Fusion, how could I lose!"
Dark Butterfly snorted coldly: "Do you really think I have no way to deal with you?"
The so-called Chains of Life are unheard of, indeed making her wary, but after all, it's something made by an Enter the Path, how could she take it seriously.
"I look forward to it!" Lu Ye said, while pointing at his own eyes.
"Just you wait!" Dark Butterfly said this, then suddenly disappeared.
Lu Ye didn't even see how she disappeared, but here was the Illusory Realm she created, and she had the right to control it.
Everything around shattered, leaving only a void of chaos.
Lu Ye simply sat cross-legged on the ground, letting out a light breath.
He naturally knew what Dark Butterfly went to do; given the situation now, she definitely wanted to undo the Chains of Life. Only by breaking this Dao Runes could she escape his control and threat.
But constructing Dao Runes is much simpler than breaking them, and this Dao Runes are exceedingly complex. Lu Ye is confident that even if Dark Butterfly is at Dao Fusion, it's impossible to break it in a short time.
Furthermore, as long as he's not cooperating, what can Dark Butterfly use?
Chains of Life...
This is a spirit runes originating from the Merfolk Race. Princess Bai Lu from the Merfolk once used a similar method to bind with a specter, and it hasn't been broken since. But hers wasn't a spirit runes; instead, it was a marvelous conch from the Divine Conch Hall.
Lu Ye had seen the mystical pattern on that conch, took it as a foundation, and fused some of the intricacies of Twin Flying Phoenixes Spirit Runes, in All Phenomena Ocean, to deduce this spirit runes. He just hadn't used it because this thing has pros and cons; once used, his very life would be tied to someone else.
Until this time!
Facing a powerhouse like Dark Butterfly, strength-wise he was never able to be her opponent. To preserve his life, he could only use Chains of Life; fortunately, for probing his secrets, she unleashed the Divine Origin Illusory Sea Technique, creating a deep bond through ten cycles of reincarnation, allowing Lu Ye's plan to succeed.
Without such a wondrous bond, Chains of Life wouldn't have worked on Dark Butterfly.
In this situation, life is temporarily preserved, and before Dark Butterfly breaks the Dao Runes, she shouldn't act against him. What about afterward?
Now, trapped in the insect hive, how can he escape?
There's another point leaving Lu Ye helpless—he's been kidnapped in front of everyone so even if he escapes alive and returns, would the battle alliance still trust him?
Things are difficult; one could say Dark Butterfly's capture almost cuts off his retreat.
In the void, Lu Ye sat forlornly, barely feeling the passage of time, and since it's ultimately an Illusory Realm, even if he wanted to cultivate to pass time, it wasn't possible.
No idea how much time passed, finally he could barely stand it, looked up, and shouted: "Dark Butterfly, come out!"
"Dark Butterfly!"
He shouted for a while but received no response.
"If you don't come, I'll die to show you!"
A ripple appeared in the void, followed by Dark Butterfly's silhouette; she stared at Lu Ye with a gloomy face, obviously quite unhappy.
These past days she'd been pondering the mysteries of the Dao Runes, finally realizing the severity because the pattern of those runes had deeply engraved into her psyche, nearly merging with her psyche; removing it wouldn't be easy.
Of course, if she really decided, she had a way, which was to abandon this part of her secondary soul.
But this secondary soul is thirty percent of her psyche's total, and the Insect Matriarch herself mainly cultivates psyche, if abandoned, her overall strength would be reduced by thirty percent.
That's countless years of rigorous cultivation, how could she bear it? Finally realizing, this time she flipped over in a gutter, venerable Peak Dao Fusion, inadvertently getting controlled by an Enter the Path.
This is simply a disgrace!
"What do you want to do!" she said coldly.
Lu Ye clicked his tongue: "Earlier, you kept calling me Brother Ye, wishing never to part from me, and now you're already this impatient?"
"Just say what you have to say!" she gritted her teeth, her bewitching face filled with rage.
Lu Ye leisurely said, "The Chains of Life are actually quite simple to break..."
Dark Butterfly immediately perked up her ears.
"Just like how your bond was formed, it requires mutual consent. As long as both parties don't resist, it can naturally be broken."
Dark Butterfly remained silent. She certainly knew that Lu Ye had no good intentions in telling her this; those Dao Runes were Lu Ye's means of safeguarding his life—how could he willingly undo them?
"What do you want?" Dark Butterfly asked, knowing that there wasn't much hope, but there was no harm in asking.
"I don't know!" Lu Ye spread his hands.
Dark Butterfly's eyebrow twitched slightly.
"Being locked up here, I'm in a bad mood. When I'm in a bad mood, I'm too lazy to think about anything. You can ask me again once I'm in a good mood."
Dark Butterfly pondered for a moment and said, "I can let you out, but..."
"I've thought about it, and this place is quite nice. No disturbances, no wars, a bit lonely, but I can always talk to you when I'm free, right?"
Dark Butterfly couldn't finish her sentence and felt suffocated.
"Stay if you want!" Dark Butterfly snorted coldly, waved her hand, and a portal appeared in the boundless void. She then disappeared.
Lu Ye snorted softly and looked at the suddenly appearing portal before getting up and walking towards it.
This portal was undoubtedly the exit. Dark Butterfly had wanted to negotiate some terms with him, but she obviously didn't succeed.
Once stepping through the portal, Lu Ye felt his consciousness sinking, accompanied by an extreme sense of etherealness. It lasted several breaths before a real sensation suddenly arose.
Once he regained the feeling of his body, Lu Ye immediately opened his eyes!
He was sitting cross-legged in an enormous cave, beneath him lay a thick flesh wall. All around, bulging flesh pods seemed ready to burst forth with life.
This place gave him an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
The insect hive's core!
He immediately remembered. Back in the Nine Provinces, he had entered many insect hives, and the core of these hives typically looked like this.
But soon, his gaze was drawn to a flesh mountain before him. Upon closer inspection, it wasn't a mountain at all but an extremely bloated bug, entirely brown, like a massively enlarged silkworm cocoon.
At this moment, the eyes of the cocoon looked like two lanterns, staring at his location.
Familiar Soul Power subtly emanated from the direction of this cocoon.
Lu Ye hesitated for a moment, then realized and his face turned extremely ugly as he tentatively called out, "Dark Butterfly?"
A voice sounded by his ear, enchanting and overwhelmingly familiar: "Looks like you've never seen the Insect Matriarch before?"
It's true; the Insect Matriarchs stood at least at the level of Dao Fusion, how could someone who was merely Entering the Path have had a chance to see them?
As this voice sounded, Lu Ye's expression began to change, and his mind involuntarily recalled scenes from past reincarnations.
Not only that, but also those extremely endearing terms...
His face turned pale, and his body inexplicably became uncomfortable, nauseous even!
No matter how powerful the enemy, he could face them without fear, but this sight left him wanting to vomit...
Lu Ye silently averted his gaze.
Dark Butterfly seemed aware, a cunning look flashed in the lanterns that were her eyes, and her voice became even more seductive: "Husband, where do you feel unwell?"
It was like a muffled thunder booming down on his head, leaving him dizzy.
Lu Ye immediately got up, rushed to the side, and, supporting himself on the cave wall, began to retch.
"Husband, what's wrong? Don't scare Little Butterfly." Dark Butterfly was on a roll, as if she were still in some reincarnation, her voice overflowing with concern and worry.
Lu Ye retched for a while but nothing came out, feeling even worse. He was about to draw his saber, but realized there was nothing at his waist; only then did he remember that the Boulder Mountain Saber was still in the Small Flower World.
Turning with anger: "If you keep this up, I'll really kill myself to show you!"
"Hehehe..." Dark Butterfly laughed cheerfully, her bloated body trembling, "Husband, what's the point of that? But if you die, I won't live alone; I'll definitely accompany you. After all, this isn't the first time Little Butterfly has done so."
She wore a confident expression, having figured out Lu Ye. Last time he used those words to threaten her, she didn't dare act rashly, but this time she paid them no mind, knowing well that Lu Ye wouldn't risk his life over such a small matter.
Ah, you've finally got a taste of it!
Dark Butterfly rejoiced internally, and all the frustration of recent days vanished.
