Chapter 1290: Chapter 1290: It’s Not Like We Haven’t Lived Together in Even Smaller Places
If Summer Sutton had no intention of giving him a chance, why would she care about his entanglement with Lorraine Hughes?
Tonight’s events represent a hope for the two of them to rekindle their relationship, at least for Watt Bennet.
After Summer got in the car, she didn’t say a word the whole time, yet Watt was still delighted inside.
As he drove, he was even in a cheerful enough mood to whistle.
Halfway through the drive, he suddenly blurted out, "How about we don’t go back tonight? Come to my place, and I’ll take you to the office in the morning, just perfect."
Having stayed silent, Summer finally reacted to his words.
She turned her face to glance at him and indifferently said, "Mr. Bennet, aren’t you overthinking this a bit?"
Wasn’t Watt more than just overthinking?
He wanted to do much more!
Not taking Summer’s words seriously, Watt smoothly continued, "Otherwise, going to your place is fine too. It’s not too far from your place to Shining Sky anyway."
His words, shameless as they were, insisted that he wanted to be with Summer tonight.
"My place is too small, it can’t accommodate you, Mr. Bennet." Summer replied coldly without looking at him.
"No problem, I don’t mind." Watt had no concern for her words and thick-skinnedly added, "We’ve stayed in smaller places together before, haven’t we?"
When he became a rogue, Summer couldn’t outlast him for more than a few rounds before she was overwhelmed.
Unable to handle him, Summer decided to ignore him completely.
Watt continued to drive with a cheerful disposition.
He drove the car to Summer’s apartment, and after Summer got out, just as she stepped into the complex, he followed behind.
His demeanor was relaxed, as if strolling through his own garden, walking and glancing around as he went.
Summer called out to him from behind, "Mr. Bennet!"
Watt turned his face to glance at her, raising his eyebrows.
"You should go back now!" Summer reminded him.
"It’s too late, isn’t it too troublesome?" Watt ignored her words and continued on his path.
This was Watt’s first time inside Summer’s apartment building; in fact, he had no idea which unit she lived in and walked right into the wrong one.
Summer didn’t remind him and was about to head straight into her own unit, but surprisingly, Watt reacted quickly, and as she was about to close the door, he slipped in.
Summer’s hand froze in midair as she was closing the door.
"It’s so late now. It’s not safe for a woman like you to go upstairs alone. I’ll escort you." Watt’s reason was quite righteous.
He helped her close the unit door and stepped into the elevator to wait for her.
Summer stood outside glaring at him, not entering.
She didn’t come in, and Watt wasn’t in a hurry either.
With his arms folded, he patiently waited.
There were many people entering and exiting the apartments, constantly coming and going.
Whenever someone passed by, they would turn their heads and glance at the two of them in stalemate.
Watt’s face was known to quite a few people by now.
The passersby who recognized him started whispering.
"That looks like Watt Bennet!"
"Yeah, yeah, what’s he doing here?"
"Late at night with a woman, these two must have some sort of relationship..."
Summer, with her sensitive hearing, listened to the murmurs of the crowd and wished she had a book to hide her face with.
Unable to stand being stared at like that, she awkwardly lifted her hand to cover part of her side profile, kept her head down, and dragged Watt into the elevator.
Watt turned his head to look at her in this state, his lips curling up slightly.
She had never won against him in a fight!
