Chapter 1309: Chapter 1309: Trying Her Best to Annoy Him
Summer Sutton nodded lightly, "Mm."
Manuel Ink smiled at her, closed the car door, and was all set to drive away when Summer suddenly called out to him, "Thanks for the help this time, Sun!"
She has no idea how many times she’s said thank you to Manuel Ink.
Manuel actually didn’t care much for it, but still turned his head and gave her a slight smile, "No problem, get some rest."
With that, he slowly started the car.
Summer waited for his car to leave before turning to enter the apartment.
As she came into her apartment, opened the door, she unexpectedly found Watt Bennet there.
He sat primly on the sofa, as if he’d been waiting for her for a long time.
His gaze was sharp, and when he looked at her, there was a chill in his eyes, piercing through her as if he could see right through her.
Summer’s gaze met his, and her body stiffened for a moment.
The two of them stared at each other for quite a while before Summer broke the silence, "You’re here."
Watt didn’t respond, just kept staring at her.
"Have you eaten? Why not go have a proper meal?" Summer asked again.
Watt still didn’t respond, his gaze remained locked on her.
Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Summer guessed that he probably hadn’t eaten anything, and turned to the kitchen.
After busying herself for a while, she cooked a bowl of noodles for Watt.
Compared to the noodles Watt used to make, these were much fancier, with vegetables, ham, meatballs, seafood, and slices of meat—a veritable feast.
She brought it out and placed it on the dining table, pushing it towards him, "Eat up."
Watt took a few deep breaths, stood up, and came over to the dining table.
Sitting down, he didn’t start eating right away.
"Did Manuel Ink also hand over evidence to the police?" he asked, expressionless.
"Mm," Summer replied.
"Are you moved by what he did?" Watt asked bluntly.
Manuel Ink had done plenty for Summer, and there were many times she was moved by him.
But being moved is one thing, love is another.
If being moved could lead to love, after all that Manuel Ink had done for her, she would’ve loved him deeply by now.
She understood that Watt’s words now were purely because the night’s events had stirred some jealousy in him.
Or maybe it was that the sense of threat he felt was now intense, feeling that Manuel Ink could at any moment threaten his relationship with her, leaving him upset.
Summer knew very well what was on Watt’s mind, but she didn’t say anything.
Glancing at Watt, she even lightly uttered, "Moved, oh yes, how could I not be? I was almost moved to tears with such a big help."
Watt was picking up his noodles when her words made his already grim face turn as dark as the bottom of a pot.
"Summer Sutton!" he gritted, scolding her in a low voice.
Summer ignored him and went to the kitchen to make herself some lemon tea.
Watt stewed in anger, both mad and annoyed at her, yet unable to do anything about it.
Summer sliced a lemon and made herself a pot of fruit tea, bringing it out and sitting across from Watt, sipping it leisurely.
She seemed to be in a good mood, her actions casual.
While drinking, she’d occasionally touch her face, as if checking on her skin condition recently.
Watt was so frustrated by her that he almost couldn’t catch his breath.
Was this woman deliberately trying to piss him off?
She had to be doing it on purpose, right?
