Chapter 1393: Chapter 1493: Reunion with an Old Friend
The things she was carrying were incredibly heavy, causing Summer Sutton’s hand to ache.
She wanted to call Watt Bennet to come pick her up, but it was rush hour, and there was traffic everywhere. By the time he arrived, who knows what time it would be.
Summer Sutton had no choice but to continue waiting by the roadside.
After about ten more minutes, her hand was aching and numb, when a black Rolls-Royce stopped in front of her.
The car window was rolled down, revealing the face inside to Summer Sutton.
Summer Sutton stared at the visitor, somewhat surprised.
Old Master Walyon sat in the car, squinting his eyes, sizing her up and down, glancing at the heavy things in her hands, and gave a look to the driver in front.
The driver understood his intention, got out of the car, took the things from Summer Sutton’s hands respectfully, and opened the back seat door for her. "Miss Sutton, it’s hard to find a ride right now, let us take you home!"
Ever since Summer Sutton left the Walyon Family, she almost had no interactions with the Walyons.
On the rare occasions she ran into Old Master, nothing was said.
Today, this sudden kindness confused Summer Sutton.
Is it because he guessed Watt Bennet’s identity, so he started being nice to her?
Or does he have something to say to her?
Summer Sutton stood rigidly outside the car, hesitating for a while, but finally opened the car door and got in.
Old Master is Adrian Walyon’s grandfather; no matter his reason for letting her get in the car, Summer Sutton is certain that Old Master won’t harm her.
The car door closed afterwards, the driver returned to the driving seat, and slowly started the car.
Summer Sutton sat in the back seat with Old Master, the car was quite spacious, yet the atmosphere made her feel a bit tense.
After sitting quietly for a while, Old Master was the first to break the silence.
"How has he been lately?"
He didn’t even use a name, speaking as if inquiring about an old friend.
How could Summer Sutton not understand his words?
He was asking about Watt Bennet.
Already showing concern for Watt Bennet’s situation, he must be quite sure of Watt Bennet’s identity, right?
Summer Sutton deliberated whether it would be better to admit or deny it.
Going back and forth in her mind, remembering that Old Master kept going thanks to knowing Adrian Walyon was still alive, she ultimately made no rebuttal.
"He’s doing well, Grandpa doesn’t need to worry about him, just take care of your own health." Summer said plainly.
Her words were considered an indirect acknowledgment of Watt Bennet’s identity.
Old Master felt reassured, and his eyes looking out the window slowly clouded over.
His eyes were slightly red, his body subtly trembling, as if struggling to suppress the emotions in his chest.
But probably considering the driver’s presence in the car, he ultimately didn’t reveal anything.
When he turned his head back to look at Summer Sutton again, his face had returned to calm.
With lowered eyes, he casually looked at the large and small bags of things Summer Sutton had bought.
Summer Sutton had bought a lot, the bags filled several; one bag was entirely filled with the dolls she had just purchased.
Plush doll figures, each one exquisite and cute.
Old Master stared at them, couldn’t help but reach out and pick one up.
Because of illness in the recent months, his hand, thin with visible veins, gently stroked the doll’s hair, his movements extremely gentle, as if caressing a child.
After gently stroking the toy for a while, when he raised his eyes, there was a glimmer in them.
