Chapter 1416: Overly Anxious
Chapter 1416 -1516: Overly Anxious
A fluffy bundle nestled there, not afraid of the cold. When Summer Sutton and Watt Bennet returned, it lunged over and collided right into their arms.
The affection was comparable to that of a child.
“Little Unity, did you miss mommy?” Summer Sutton indulgently picked it up, rubbing its head with her hand.
Unity responded with a couple of “meow” sounds.
“You missed me!” Summer Sutton assumed it meant it missed her.
Unity meowed twice more.
One person and one animal, going back and forth like this, truly seemed like a conversation.
This scene, if seen by pet lovers, would be as warm as could be, but not for Watt Bennet.
Watt Bennet had never liked pets, accepting a cat only because Summer Sutton liked them.
The year when Summer was apart from him, he managed to take good care of Unity because Unity belonged to Summer Sutton.
In Watt Bennet’s view, no level of pet affection could rival being greeted at home by a child.
If every time they came home, waiting for him and Summer Sutton at the door was not a cat, but a child, that image alone warmed his heart.
Thinking about this, he turned sideways, unable to resist glancing at Summer Sutton.
“Baby.” He called out to Summer Sutton, pulling her into his arms as he gently embraced her.
“Hmm?” Summer Sutton raised her face, looking at him suspiciously.
Watt Bennet seriously gazed at her face for a while before his eyes slowly moved down to Summer Sutton’s stomach, lightly placing his hand over it.
“Have you felt unwell in any way recently?” He asked tentatively.
He was rather subtle in his inquiry, not straightforwardly asking Summer Sutton if she had any pregnancy symptoms.
“No!” Summer Sutton shook her head, her attention focused on Unity in her arms.
“Not even a little bit?” Watt Bennet assumed she missed the main point, prompting her, “No fatigue or dizziness?”
“No.” Summer Sutton was gently smoothing Unity’s fur, not paying much attention to his words.
“How about your appetite? Is it still normal?” Watt Bennet continued his inquiry.
“You’ve seen my appetite these past two days, haven’t you?” Summer Sutton retorted.
Summer Sutton’s appetite had been unusually good these days; earlier at the 108th-floor outdoor restaurant, she handled almost every dinner there, and the candlelight dinners prepared at home were almost entirely tackled by her.
This evening’s wontons, she finished her own portion and even helped Watt Bennet with half of his, along with quite a bit of snacks.
Her appetite was even exceptionally beyond her normal level.
Watt Bennet seriously reflected on her behavior these past couple of days and felt somewhat deflated.
Summer Sutton’s symptoms didn’t resemble those of someone pregnant in the slightest.
Was he rushing things?
Actually, the unprotected time he and Summer Sutton shared wasn’t very long, at most about a month.
A month—it did seem a bit rushed.
Watt Bennet found himself slightly laughable, tugging his lips in self-deprecation, he changed the subject.
Yet Summer Sutton found him a bit peculiar today, raising her face again, “What’s up?”
“Nothing, just casually asking. Look at how lightly dressed you are today, worried you might catch a cold.” Watt Bennet wrapped her coat tighter around her.
His explanation was logical, as Summer Sutton indeed wore very little today, making it easy to catch a cold.
Summer Sutton didn’t doubt him, lowering her gaze to continue playing with Unity in her arms.
