Chapter 1430: Dream Fulfilled

Summer Sutton looked at him in confusion and started joking with him, “Is today our wedding anniversary? That doesn’t sound right!”

It wasn’t that it didn’t sound right, it just flat-out wasn’t!

Watt Bennet was dissatisfied with her wording, his handsome face darkening a few degrees.

Seeing his expression turn, Summer quickly changed her guess. “Our first-date anniversary?”

Watt just kept his handsome face cold and walked on at his own pace, as if he hadn’t heard her.

“The day you first confessed to me?”

“Your birthday?”

“My birthday?”

Summer followed behind him, still tossing out wild guesses.

She really was just shooting in the dark; even she knew the questions she was asking weren’t right.

Neither Watt’s nor her birthday fell on today.

Summer thought and thought, but still couldn’t figure it out.

The Sutton Clan

Group’s upper management were very familiar with Watt; as he went upstairs, everyone he ran into treated him with utmost respect.

Bringing Summer all the way to the office in front of her workstation—a room she’d never once seen anyone use since she’d joined—Watt pressed down on her shoulders and had her sit for a bit.

Half an hour later, the assistant came in, bringing a cream-colored V-neck evening gown with a starry-galaxy visual effect.

After taking the dress out, the assistant hurried out again, closing the office door behind her, and Watt personally set about changing Summer into the gown.

Summer sat there stiffly, letting him move her as he pleased, the confusion in her heart swelling.

“Dressed up this grand, it really feels like I’m about to ascend the throne.” Looking at Watt bent over, arranging the hem of her skirt, Summer started joking with him.

Watt simply focused on what he was doing and ignored her.

After smoothing out the gown for her and running his hand through her long hair, he took her by the hand and led her downstairs.

Summer followed stiffly behind him, her heart thudding hard with every step she took.

The people at the company had said earlier that there would be a major meeting this afternoon.

Watt had come for that meeting, hadn’t he?

Now that he had her dressed up so formally as well, Summer felt like she was starting to guess what he was about to do.

Watt led her to the plaza in front of the building.

By the time they arrived, all the company employees were already there.

There were a lot of reporters, too—just a glance told her there were at least two hundred.

When Watt walked out holding Summer’s hand, every camera turned toward them; the surrounding shutters clicked and clacked, the flashes almost blinding.

Watt’s face was completely expressionless, his gaze straight ahead as he walked.

Summer followed stiffly behind him, her mind going blank.

She didn’t even know how Watt had led her up onto the platform at the very front.

All she heard was Watt’s deep, hoarse voice that carried its own natural authority: “The Sutton Clan

Group was acquired by me more than a year ago, acquired for my wife.”

“The woman standing next to me is my wife, the daughter of the Sutton Clan founder, the rightful heir of the Sutton Clan. This company is the lifelong work of Summer’s father. His life’s work, to be completed by his daughter—surely no one here has any objections to that?”

“Today, here, in front of all the media friends and company employees, I announce that the official person in charge of the Sutton Clan

Group is named Summer Sutton! After the handover ceremony, all the legal procedures will be completed within a week.”

His voice was steady and powerful.

Before holding this meeting, he actually hadn’t given anyone a heads-up.

But since the person he was giving the company to was Summer Sutton, the Sutton Clan’s original successor, what could outsiders possibly say?

Summer’s ears were buzzing; she just stared blankly at Watt, unable to say a word for a long time.
