She walked as fast as she could, but it was no use against the long legs of the man behind her. He caught up in just a few large strides.

He yanked her by the elbow. "In such a hurry? Don’t you want this?"

The lobby was bustling with people, many of whom were now watching them. A chill instantly crept up Nancy Hughes’s spine, prickling the back of her neck.

She glanced down at the file in Dylan Heston’s hand and said awkwardly, "Um, can you let me go first?"

"Give me a reason?"

’The reason is that you clearly can’t see all the women around us, shooting daggers at me with their eyes. They look like they want to murder me!’

"Let me go, there are too many people here!" she said in a low voice, trying to twist her wrist free.

Dylan Heston was unconcerned. To him, the more people, the better. He simply started dragging Nancy Hughes toward the exit.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone present, the entire scene unfolded.

Long after the pair had disappeared from sight, the onlookers were still gaping, too stunned to speak.

’What was that all about? Is another one of the city’s most eligible bachelors off the market?’

’And with one of his own employees, no less.’

Nancy Hughes was dragged outside by Dylan Heston. "Hey, where are you taking me? I have to get back to the office!"

She struggled, refusing to get into the car.

However, her strength was ultimately no match for Dylan Heston’s, and he forcefully shoved her inside the car.

The moment she steadied herself, Dylan Heston got in from the driver’s side and locked the doors.

He started the engine, and the car shot away from the company entrance.

"I have a meeting later! You have to take me back!" Her voice grew progressively quieter.

Because she realized Dylan Heston seemed to be angry. His face was ashen, as if someone owed him millions, and most importantly, the car was steadily picking up speed.

’Is it because I struggled?’

Nancy Hughes’s heart pounded wildly. Although he had always been gentle, considerate, and a perfect gentleman with her, she knew that he was, at his core, a ruthless man.

She couldn’t help but feel a pang of fear, her hand gripping the armrest beside her.

The car stopped in front of a hotel. Her racing heart, which had just started to settle, leaped into her throat the moment she saw the sign.

’In the middle of the day... he actually brought me to a hotel. He isn’t planning on doing something to me, is he?’

Nancy Hughes’s eyes widened. The more she thought about it, the more likely the possibility seemed.

Suddenly, the door next to her opened. Looking up into his angry eyes, she flashed a saccharine smile. "I have a meeting later, you know. Can’t whatever this is wait until after I’m off work?"

"Are you getting out yourself, or do I have to carry you?" Dylan Heston said, his voice cold and unmoved.

He made a motion as if to lean down and carry her out. She instinctively covered her chest and yelped, "No, no! I’ll get out on my own!"

Dylan Heston was truly terrifying when he was angry. Nancy Hughes, wanting to cry but having no tears to shed, looked down at the large hand that had settled on her waist. She squirmed uncomfortably, and in response, the arm around her waist only tightened.

She cautiously glanced at Dylan Heston’s expression before her eyes flicked to the receptionist at the front counter. The woman was staring at her with a distinctly unfriendly gaze.

"Mr. Heston, how may I help you?" the receptionist purred, her voice impossibly soft and sultry. It was so much that even Nancy Hughes cringed a little.

’Are all receptionists’ voices this breathy and seductive nowadays?’

"A room."

"Wait! Dylan Heston, I’m not getting a room with you!" Nancy Hughes immediately protested. ’So I was right,’ she thought in horror.

She gave Dylan Heston a guarded look, her hands moving uncertainly to press against his chest in a futile attempt to push him away.

Dylan Heston didn’t even bother asking. He simply wrapped an arm around her shoulders and steered her toward the elevators.

"Hey, Dylan Heston, didn’t you hear me? I’m not getting a room with you! Let me go back, I still have to work!" Nancy Hughes hissed in his ear, struggling frantically to break free of his grip.

But he was far too strong. He caught both of her hands in one of his and pulled her into his arms. "Nancy Hughes, are you afraid of me?"

"..."

His question left Nancy Hughes speechless. She lowered her head in silence.

She was afraid of him. But she was even more afraid of what would happen once they were in that room.

She really had forgotten everything about their drunken one-night stand.

Her silence was as good as a confession.

Taking advantage of her distraction, the elevator doors opened with a DING. Dylan Heston pulled her inside.

The elevator ascended quickly, and Nancy Hughes glanced at him several times, wanting to speak but stopping herself each time.

Once they were inside the room, Dylan Heston finally released her.
