Chapter 743 - 744: Don’t Rush!
Chapter 743: Chapter 744: Don’t Rush!
Xu Linglong’s gaze was fixed intently on Chu Xingchen, but she could never pierce through the Primordial Chaos Twin Spirit Beads’ concealment to see his current condition or cultivation level.
"What, regretting you only sent a small clone today? Thought I was too cowardly to come out?"
Chu Xingchen spoke as he leaped into the air, his expression provocative as he looked at Xu Linglong:
"All this commotion was just to lure me here, wasn’t it? I’ve been kind enough to give you the chance."
"With your cultivation, getting here shouldn’t have taken long. Well then, do you want to truly settle things between us today?"
Xu Linglong’s expression shifted uncertainly, then she gave a cold laugh:
"You’re just relying on the Primordial Chaos Twin Spirit Beads to mask your aura. Not even Bai Xuanling is here—whether this is even the real Chu Xingchen is uncertain. If you really want a decisive battle, why not put down that treasure first?"
Chu Xingchen strode toward Xu Linglong without a hint of backing down:
"If you don’t have the guts, just say so. Don’t treat me like a child. If you lack even this much courage, the great Celestial Demons are nothing—the outcome was decided long ago. Surrender now, and I might actually spare your life."
Xu Linglong narrowed her eyes, drawing her bow to a full moon and aiming it at the approaching Chu Xingchen. A faint smile played at her lips:
"With that sharp tongue, I almost believe you’re Chu Xingchen. But... time isn’t on your side anymore."
Chu Xingchen’s gaze drifted to the ritual array below:
"You mean the ritual array down there? That thing from little Donggua’s mouth—the Heavenly Demon Realm?"
"This kind of trick doesn’t scare me. If that ritual array were truly unstoppable and you had victory in hand, you would have used it long ago instead of getting Celestial Demons killed."
"This delaying and blustering is getting pathetic. I’m not going to engage with it. The world is now sealed. The traces of the three remaining Celestial Demons are being tracked. There’s nowhere left for you to breathe across the five continents."
"If you have nothing else to say..."
Chu Xingchen’s eyes revealed killing intent as he stared at Xu Linglong:
"Then I’ll see you next time. You lured me here—you’d better be ready for the consequences."
"After today, the world turns upside down. Until one of us is dead."
"My life is yours to take, but I hope you can bear the cost!"
Xu Linglong said nothing in response. She simply released the string, and a crimson arrow of light shot straight toward Chu Xingchen.
But in the next instant, Xu Linglong’s body was cleaved apart by a single sword stroke from the Tribulation Transcendence cultivator of Xiaoyun Hall.
Xu Linglong’s eyes remained fixed on Chu Xingchen, wanting to see whether this arrow she’d released could truly pierce through him.
But...
She couldn’t see the result before completely dissipating.
The instant Xu Linglong vanished.
The arrow aimed at Chu Xingchen was only slightly worn down by the Primordial Chaos Twin Spirit Beads before striking him squarely.
Chu Xingchen, standing in midair, was sent crashing to the ground by the arrow’s force, blasting out a massive crater.
He neither dodged nor blocked.
Donggua broke into a cold sweat, gasping for breath as she watched the scene, her brain crashing once again.
Was Chu Xingchen purely acting?
Had he recovered none of his cultivation at all?
And yet he still dared to be this arrogant?
Just moments ago he’d been all righteous dignity, mocking Xu Linglong for spouting nonsense—only to turn out he was the one spouting nonsense?
Donggua struggled to move, straining her eyes to look toward the crater where Chu Xingchen lay.
No matter what, just from today’s performance alone, Donggua had to hand it to Chu Xingchen.
No wonder he was the Child of Heaven’s Fortune. Not a hint of cowardice between life and death. That kind of acting—Xu Linglong would probably believe Chu Xingchen had truly recovered.
As expected, those who reached this level were all top-tier prodigies.
Donggua had just turned her gaze—
Two streaks of rainbow light arrived in the blink of an eye from the horizon, landing beside Chu Xingchen.
The two figures who landed were not Xu Jin and Daoist Yuyang, but Yunxiao and the Tribulation Transcendence elder from Xiaoyun Hall.
Moments later, Huang Miao’s figure also descended nearby, though she said nothing—merely glancing at Chu Xingchen before setting up a perimeter.
Yunxiao’s face was a mask of terror and lingering fear as he hurriedly helped Chu Xingchen up, simultaneously pulling top-grade healing pills from his spatial ring and pressing them toward Chu Xingchen’s mouth without a second word.
He struggled to maintain his composure but couldn’t help blurting out:
"If you couldn’t handle it, why didn’t you say so sooner?! It’s one thing to deceive Xu Linglong, but why did you have to deceive us too?!"
Blood trickled from the corner of Chu Xingchen’s mouth. He shook his head slightly, refusing the pills Yunxiao offered:
"Cough... the Dao Resonance in my body is still in complete chaos. I can’t take healing pills—taking them would actually cause a real disaster."
Hearing this, Yunxiao immediately pulled the pills away from Chu Xingchen. These life-saving pills dissolved on contact, designed for emergencies where even swallowing might be too difficult for the severely injured.
Hearing this, Yunxiao’s head grew even more distressed—he should have said this earlier! What if his reflexes had been too fast and he’d already forced them in?
Chu Xingchen struggled to stand, his voice somewhat weak:
"I’m fine, just some minor internal injuries. Most of the energy was blocked by my protective treasure. The force was just too violent."
The Tribulation Transcendence cultivator from Xiaoyun Hall reached out to assess the situation, but Chu Xingchen shook his head in refusal:
"Heavenly Resonance is circulating through my body. Careless spiritual probing could trigger a Resonance stress reaction and assault my sea of consciousness. Don’t worry—I know my own condition."
The Xiaoyun Hall elder hastily withdrew his hand, even pulling his spiritual consciousness inward considerably.
Xu Jin and Daoist Yuyang’s figures descended into the crater at this moment, immediately putting on a show of examining Chu Xingchen.
Though they didn’t know Chu Xingchen’s true cultivation state, they were certain he could have blocked Xu Linglong’s arrow.
And his injuries were definitely not as exaggerated as he claimed. Even if not fully recovered, he should have recovered at least most of his strength.
This was almost certainly an act—probably because he suspected Xu Linglong still had eyes nearby and wanted to put on a show.
Xu Jin and Daoist Yuyang naturally cooperated, crowding around him.
Yunxiao felt his scalp tingling as he watched Chu Xingchen’s frail expression.
Chu Xingchen could get into trouble anywhere, but he absolutely could not get into trouble here at this moment.
If something happened here, Xiaoyun Hall would truly be in trouble.
Never mind the Child of Heaven’s Fortune—just Bai Xuanling, the world’s only living True Immortal, would be enough to give Xiaoyun Hall a serious headache.
Yunxiao’s expression was earnest, his tone sincere: "Fellow Daoist Chu! Please don’t push yourself! If you can’t manage, just command from the rear! Your instructions will be carried out to the letter!"
As expected, everything looked better in comparison. If he’d known earlier that Chu Xingchen was this fragile and loved taking risks, Yunxiao would have preferred Chu Xingchen giving random orders—somehow that was more reassuring.
Yunxiao continued quickly:
"Let’s return to Xiaoyun Hall to rest and recover from your injuries. Then we’ll plan our next moves."
Chu Xingchen forced himself upright, then slowly shook his head:
"I’m fine. This battered body of mine should serve whatever use it can."
Yunxiao’s voice grew urgent:
"Fellow Daoist Chu! Don’t be reckless! Don’t rush! There’s plenty of time!"
Chu Xingchen waved his hand. "I’m not rushing..."
Yunxiao blurted out without thinking:
"I am!"
