The pitch-black sea surface, under starlight so faint it was nearly invisible, floated one black circular object after another.

One after another, before Chen Ye's eyes, there were densely packed over a dozen black circular objects.

Because the light was too dim, it was impossible to make out what these things actually were.

Those black circular objects floated on the surface of the seawater, swaying slightly with the movement of the waves.

But then, in just an instant, those black circular objects began to change.

These circular objects were slowly stretched upward, and when a pair of human eyes was revealed, a chill ran through Chen Ye's entire body.

That feeling was like sleeping soundly in the middle of summer and feeling an ice-cold snake slither across your back.

Those circular objects were the tops of human heads.

They were pairs of indifferent eyes devoid of any human emotion.

As if those eyes were merely decorations, without the function of eyes at all.

As these figures slowly approached the shore, Chen Ye could see them more clearly.

The people walking out of the sea had skin that was a greenish-gray, like bronze artifacts that had been soaked in the sea for a long time.

They had no expressions, no emotions, their eyeballs didn't even move, they simply maintained a dazed forward motion.

Their hair was very long, those wet strands plastered tightly against their scalps and faces.

Their necks were very long, each person's neck was at least fifty centimeters short, and up to a meter long at the longest.

These necks looked extremely bizarre and terrifying.

Before these "people" even got close, Chen Ye could feel a damp, cold aura rushing toward him.

Judging by their appearances, these "people" included the old and the young, men and women, like a human family.

About a dozen or so of these "people" slowly approached the base.

These "people" didn't seem to notice that there was anything extra on the beach.

Not only that, but the clothes on these people were also strange.

Some were wearing sharp suits, clearly office workers of some company in their past lives, still holding briefcases in their hands.

Others wore vests printed with the logo of some food delivery company, with cycling helmets on their heads.

One look at this attire and you could tell what these people did before they died.

There were also people wearing the school uniform of some middle school, and even women wearing black stockings.

Of course, under these circumstances, no one would be focusing their gaze on those women in black stockings.

Those with shorter necks walked at the front, while those with longer necks walked behind.

It seemed that the longer one's neck, the higher their status in this group.

These "people" walked out of the sea.

Drenched from head to toe.

When their feet fully stepped onto the sandy beach, they were still constantly dripping water.

As if each person had an unclosed faucet on their body.

They slowly shuffled along, step by step approaching the base.

Little Fish clung tightly to her cousin's clothes, trembling all over.

Everyone else was hiding in the vehicles, not allowed to see these things.

But Little Fish was different.

The curious little girl, relying on her cousin's protection, always got privileges that others couldn't enjoy.

The little girl only took one glance through the car window, and she was completely shaken.

This was a fear that came from the depths of her heart.

Like a little lamb encountering a hungry wolf.

Sun Xixi pressed Little Fish's head down, covering Little Fish's mouth tightly with her hand.

Afraid that Little Fish might make even the slightest sound.

Little Fish also placed both hands over her cousin's hand, afraid that she wouldn't be able to hold back a sound herself.

Iron Lion sat up from the bed on the vehicle roof, both heads now awake and alert.

Especially the Mad Lion head, which looked fierce and terrifying.

He could sense that something was wrong with these things.

But if it was just this number, was it too much of an overreaction?

Not to mention how many superhumans were at the entire base, just the superhumans of the Fair Convoy alone meant these anomalies couldn't cause substantial harm to the Fair Convoy.

Iron Lion couldn't figure it out, but that didn't mean others couldn't either.

Chen Ye's eyes were heavy and somber, his red eyes seeming to harbor an unmelting block of ice.

The anomalies before them were definitely not all there were.

According to the Silent Council's information, the things coming ashore from the sea were extremely numerous, far exceeding the current population of the base.

The great terror was still to come.

Sure enough!

When Chen Ye turned his gaze toward the direction of the sea.

Behind that group of sea anomalies that had come ashore first...

Densely packed...

Throughout the waves along the entire coastline, various sizes of black head-tops floated.

Stretching beyond the limits of sight.

Extending all the way into the distance.

Some of the faster ones had already poked their heads out of the sea.

Connected to those heads were those long, long necks.

Those long necks sent a chill down anyone's spine.

Some "people" had necks exceeding one meter, and the man with the longest neck walked in the middle of them all.

His neck even exceeded three meters.

Like a moving flagpole walking among the sea anomalies.

This guy with the longest neck gave off an intense sense of oppression and threat.

As a superhuman, Chen Ye could sense that this guy posed the greatest danger to him.

More and more feet landed on the sandy beach.

These "people" were the same as those before, with water that never stopped flowing from their bodies.

That water soaked patches of the sand on the beach.

The chill in the air was growing heavier and heavier.

Chen Ye could see the heat of his own breath turning into white vapor.

Looking at the rearview mirror, there was more frost on the ground, and thicker too.

The temperature was plummeting...

As a superhuman, he didn't need to worry about himself, but those survivors, after this disaster, how many would still be alive?

The first of those "people" had already slowly approached the base.

They had already begun to come into contact with the convoy closest to the sea.

That convoy had sealed all their windows shut.

The few windows that weren't sealed were probably deliberately left open for the superhumans to observe the situation.

Previously, one could see figures moving behind the windows.

But at this moment, the figures behind the windows were all gone.

Those "people" slowly, step by step, walked past that convoy.

The heavy footsteps sounded like they were pounding on the deepest parts of people's hearts.

The water stains on the ground proved that these things had been here.

More and more people were coming up from the sea.

The entire coastline was filled with these long-necked creatures.

The guy with the three-meter neck was surpassed again.

Several sea anomalies had necks even longer than his.

It seemed that three meters was just a boundary.

Those with necks exceeding three meters clearly had a bit more intelligence than the others.

As if there was a little more... thought in their eyes?

The entire base was dead silent.

No survivor dared to make even the slightest sound.

These long-necked creatures slowly approached the base step by step.

Everyone's hearts were hanging in suspense.

When the first sea anomaly stepped across the Fair Convoy's camp,

Chen Ye couldn't help but feel a bit tense.

There were too many.

Far more than he had imagined.

If it were still just a dozen or so of these things, the Fair Convoy alone could handle them without trouble.

But now...

The number of these things was simply impossible to count.

Ten thousand? A hundred thousand? Or maybe a million?

Any convoy that faced the sea anomalies now would only meet certain death.

Presumably, everywhere in Xi City where it was surrounded by sea on three sides, all of these things had appeared.

Those convoys that had left, if they weren't fast enough, probably had no chance of survival.

At the same time.

Inside Bus Number Five, inside Bus Number Six.

The sound of chattering teeth echoed finely within the spaces.

This was the body's instinctive reaction, even though they couldn't see what was happening outside.

But their bodies' instincts told them the situation was extremely dangerous now, with the possibility of death at any moment.

But even the sound of chattering teeth, everyone was trying their utmost to control.

Making these sounds even softer.

Some even stuffed their hands into their mouths, to prevent the sound of teeth clashing from attracting danger.

Others quickly followed suit.

No one wanted to die.
