Seven Cubs, Seven Fathers, Zero Days Off
Chapter 100: He Wasn’t Mistaken, It Was a Blood Wolf
Chapter 100: Chapter 100: He Wasn’t Mistaken, It Was a Blood Wolf
Shen Yue got back on her tricycle, making sure to run the wheels over the very dead chameleon on the ground.
Once she was far in the distance, the Horned Eagle in the tree, which had been secretly watching for some time, shifted its dark, piercing eyes to stare intently after her.
A sparrowhawk flew to its side and watched Shen Yue’s receding figure. "City Lord, could that woman be the one we’re looking for?"
Gremu had actually arrived a day ago. He had originally planned to conduct a massive search for the woman Si Muye had mentioned.
But as a former member of the Black Eagle Organization, he had a keen sense that the aura on this mountain was highly unusual.
This was a deep mountain range on the border, home to the most dangerous Refugee Tribes. Yet surprisingly, there were no signs of other Beast Clan activity anywhere.
It was like a peaceful, otherworldly sanctuary that someone had placed under strict protection.
That was why, after arriving yesterday, he hadn’t rushed into the mountains but had instead lurked in the shadows.
He never expected to witness such a shocking scene tonight.
That massive dragon circling in the air... even from several mountains away, he was so overwhelmed by its terrifying might that he couldn’t even maintain his human form.
If he wasn’t mistaken, a life-and-death duel was taking place on that mountain.
And it involved a Flood Dragon!
Moreover, judging by the powerful auras emanating from the mountain, there had to be more than one high-level male with S Class Spiritual Power or higher.
He really hadn’t expected things to be so lively on the border, not far from his Barbaric City!
And that woman below... she was riding some unknown red contraption that moved incredibly fast, let out a thunderous roar, and had glowing eyes that lit up the path. It was all too bizarre.
Staring at the contraption, he couldn’t help but ask, "Do you know what that thing she’s riding is?"
The sparrowhawk beside him shook its head. "I don’t know. I’ve never seen such a strangely shaped beast. It’s faster than a gnu!"
Gremu narrowed his eyes, his thoughts unreadable.
After a moment, he spread his wings and gave chase in the direction Shen Yue had gone.
’This trip was truly worth it!’
If he wasn’t mistaken, that woman had just killed a high-level Beastman with S Class Spiritual Power or higher with a mere wave of her hand. For any other female, this would be an unimaginable feat.
And she had seven little cubs with her.
When had he ever seen a female give birth to seven cubs in a single litter? It was simply unbelievable!
As he flew, he sized up the children in the tricycle’s cargo bed.
Until his eyes landed on one particular child.
His aura instantly darkened.
Shen Yue sped wildly along on her tricycle. All she wanted right now was to find a safe place to hide the children before going back to save Huang Ziyue.
For some reason, when she saw the image of Huang Ziyue’s body being pierced by a sharp blade, the dull ache in her heart felt terrifyingly real.
She didn’t understand. ’Did the original owner have some connection to Huang Ziyue? Or are these my own feelings for him?’
She couldn’t tell, but the pain was overwhelming—so much so that her eyes turned red, and she fought back the urge to cry.
And just then, a sharp, piercing eagle’s cry from behind made her shudder.
She looked up abruptly and saw a Horned Eagle the size of a man’s arm diving toward her and the children.
’The Eagle Clan?’
The little cubs behind her were also instantly terrified. They bared their sharp fangs at the approaching Horned Eagle, the fur on their backs standing on end in fear.
"Mother, something’s flying over!"
"Mother, Er Bao is scared!"
Shen Yue’s heart leaped in alarm.
The eagle had its talons bared and a vicious look in its eyes. It was clearly coming with ill intent.
She twisted the throttle. "Don’t be afraid, little ones, sit tight!"
She gunned the engine, and the tricycle shot through the forest.
The diving Gremu could have grabbed one of the children, but Shen Yue nimbly swerved around a large tree.
His talons swiped at empty air, carving deep gashes into the tree trunk.
The sheer force of the swipe was obvious. If it had hit the children, it would have torn their skin right open!
Shen Yue didn’t dare to stop. She swerved sharply, dodging Gremu’s second attack.
The little cubs in the cargo bed screamed in terror, tumbling into a heap.
By the time they righted themselves, they saw the Horned Eagle swooping at them again.
Its sharp talons were just about to snatch Little Qi.
Qibao screamed in fright, "No!"
Dabao cried out, "Qibao!"
In the nick of time, Dabao instantly transformed into his beast form, leaped forward, and sank his teeth into Gremu’s neck.
"Go away, you bad guy!"
Just then, Shen Yue’s tricycle hit a bump, and both Dabao and the Horned Eagle tumbled to the ground.
The little cubs cried out, "Big Brother!"
"Dabao!"
Shen Yue whipped her head around just in time to see Sanbao also transform into a Little Flood Dragon and leap from the cargo bed.
She slammed on the brakes.
"Dabao, Sanbao!"
Shen Yue’s heart was in her throat as she scrambled desperately back toward them.
On the ground, Dabao refused to let go after the fall, his teeth still clamped firmly on the Horned Eagle.
Gremu hadn’t expected this little cub to be so fierce. He abruptly released his spiritual power, about to swat the Little Golden Lion off him.
But Sanbao swooped down, planting a claw on his back and biting his other wing.
Gremu winced in pain from the bites.
Even with his spiritual power suppressed, he could still unleash thirty to forty percent of his strength.
BANG!
The power erupting from his body instantly blasted Dabao and Sanbao away.
The two little ones were thrown a great distance, whimpering as they landed hard.
When Shen Yue saw this, her heart nearly stopped. She screamed, "Sanbao, Dabao!"
She dove straight toward them.
But the force had knocked Sanbao and Dabao to the edge of a steep slope, and they were about to tumble down.
The image she had seen in the cave—of Dabao and Sanbao lying in a pool of blood—flashed through Shen Yue’s mind, and tears spilled from her eyes.
A profound sense of terror made her lose all reason. ’I can’t lose Dabao and Sanbao. I can’t.’
She threw her entire body to the ground, grabbing the two little ones at the last possible second.
Dabao and Sanbao were in her grasp, their small bodies already halfway over the edge of the steep slope.
Seeing the fear and tears in their eyes as they looked up at her, she said, her voice trembling with shock, "Mother’s got you! I’ve got you!"
Meanwhile, on the ground, Gremu had instantly transformed into his human form as Shen Yue dove for Dabao and Sanbao.
He watched as Si Bao leaped down from the cargo bed.
That fiery red color and aura... his gaze tightened, his pupils constricting.
’I’m not mistaken. It’s a Blood Wolf!’
A frigid aura erupted from him, as if releasing a boundless hatred that had long been suppressed in his heart.
The other little cubs had jumped out of the tricycle, originally intending to rush over and help Dabao and Sanbao.
But when they saw Sanbao and Dabao get knocked away, they became furious. "You big bully!"
"Bad guy!"
They were about to leap forward and bite him.
However, Gremu now had only one target in his eyes: the Blood Wolf.
So, as Si Bao lunged at him, he raised a hand and snatched him up.
"Si Bao!"
"Let go of my fourth brother, you big bad guy!"
Shen Yue had just pulled Dabao and Sanbao up to safety when she heard the other children’s shouts.
She whipped her head around.
She saw the man—the Horned Eagle in his human form—choking Si Bao.
His hand was tightening, as if he was about to snap Si Bao’s neck.
Her breath hitched, and she cried out in alarm, "Stop! Stop!"
