Chapter 293 - 291: Apologize to Wubao
Chapter 293: Chapter 291: Apologize to Wubao
But Yun Lie Ting’s panicked cry of "Stop!" still hung in the forest.
"Wubao!"
A voice, as crisp and cool as jade beads falling onto a platter, came from beside him.
Yun Lie Ting’s head snapped in its direction, just in time to see a dazzling red figure flash past, hovering in mid-air.
Her fiery red robes billowed violently in the mountain wind.
Her ink-black hair flew about wantonly. Though only her eyes—as cold and sharp as blades—were visible, the pressure she exuded was even more intimidating than that of the giant purple beast above.
"Female Mother!"
Wubao, perched on the purple beast’s broad shoulders, couldn’t hold back his flood of grievances the moment he recognized the familiar red figure.
The tears he had been so desperately holding back broke free, his small body trembling with sobs as he reached his little hands out toward Shen Yue.
"Female Mother, Wubao wants his female mother!"
Shen Yue looked up at him, her heart aching:
"Wubao, Female Mother is here. Don’t be afraid!"
Hearing Shen Yue’s voice, the sky-blotting purple beast began to shrink right before Yun Lie Ting’s eyes, descending to a height Shen Yue could easily reach.
It docilely lowered its head, steadily delivering Wubao to Shen Yue’s side.
Her heart aching, Shen Yue reached out and pulled the sobbing Wubao into her arms.
Her fingertips brushed away the tears on Wubao’s face. Seeing his red-rimmed eyes and his small, trembling body, she felt a vicious squeeze in her heart.
"Don’t be afraid, Wubao. Female Mother is here!"
She murmured, her head lowered, her voice so gentle it seemed to flow like water.
Down on the ground, Yun Lie Ting remained frozen in place, his arm still outstretched, his pupils contracting violently in utter shock.
He stared intently at the woman in red, his mind a complete blank.
’This face... even veiled, with only her eyes showing, she’s absolutely not the hideous, vulgar female from my memories!’
’The woman from that night in Beastification City was dark-skinned and ugly, her face covered in pockmarks!’
But the person before him was tall and graceful, with an incomparably stunning, aloof aura.
And those eyes were shockingly brilliant.
Shen Yue protectively held Wubao and looked up at Yun Lie Ting.
The fury roiling in her eyes, mingled with an arrogance that looked down upon all creation, made Yun Lie Ting’s heart tremble.
’How could this possibly be that ugly woman who forced herself on me?!’
Before he could even process it, Shen Yue—still cradling Wubao—flicked her wrist, and a terrifyingly immense power instantly coalesced in her palm.
In the next instant, she struck out at him.
—There were no fancy moves, only pure, overwhelming power.
It was so fast that Yun Lie Ting had no time to react.
"BOOM—!"
A tremendous crash echoed through the mountain forest.
Yun Lie Ting was sent flying backward like a kite with a snapped string.
His body slammed hard against a thick, ancient tree, snapping the trunk instantly. He crashed heavily to the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood.
He lay sprawled on the ground, a utterly pathetic sight.
He struggled to push himself up from the ground, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"You... Who in the world are you?!"
Shen Yue slowly descended to the ground. Shielding Wubao behind her, she advanced on him, each step radiating an icy chill.
She glanced down at the pathetic man on the ground, her tone as cold as ice.
"Who am I? Yun Lie Ting, aren’t you the one who keeps spouting off about some ’ugly female’ who’s too crude to be seen? What’s the matter? Don’t you recognize the person you consider your greatest shame?"
Her words struck Yun Lie Ting like a clap of thunder.
’It really is her!’
The female who had shattered his precious pride, the one he had hated for months and scorned countless times.
But how could the woman from Beastification City possibly be this woman before him—a woman of unparalleled presence and terrifying power?
Besides, how could a weak female possess such strength??
He found it impossible to believe.
He recalled the words he had just spoken—calling her weak, useless, and foolishly sentimental, declaring she wasn’t fit to be Wubao’s female mother!!
He had even threatened to take Wubao away and kill his pet...
Now, seeing the power with which Shen Yue had sent him flying with a casual slap, it all felt surreal.
Could it be that he had never known the true identity of the woman from that day in Beastification City?
Or had he missed something?
"Female Mother..."
Wubao peeked his head out from behind Shen Yue. He looked at the miserable Yun Lie Ting on the ground, then back at the Shen Yue protecting him, and said through his sniffles,
"He yelled at you, he was mean to me, and he wanted to kill Bunny..."
"Female Mother knows."
Shen Yue stroked her son’s head, her tone softening for a moment before she turned back to Yun Lie Ting, her every word a dagger.
"Yun Lie Ting, have I been too easy on you?"
Her eyes were laced with ice.
"The moment you arrived, you snatched Wubao, threatened him, scared him to tears, and insulted his very nature. That strike was the price you pay for your actions."
As she spoke, a whip suddenly materialized in her hand.
"CRACK!"
With a single, vicious snap, she struck the ground.
She stared at him coldly.
"Now, I want you to apologize to him. Immediately."
The fallen leaves on the ground were violently scattered by the whip.
Shen Yue’s expression was frosty. She had tracked Wubao’s scent all the way here, arriving just in time to hear Yun Lie Ting’s words.
This man... back in Beastification City, he was the only one she had used "special methods" on.
The others had all been drugged, their Divine Will muddled, when she took their innocence.
Yun Lie Ting, however, had been an exception.
She had tied him up with ropes, whipped him countless times, and forced herself upon him while he was fully conscious.
So, she wasn’t the least bit surprised that this man hated and detested her.
In short, Yun Lie Ting had certainly suffered that day.
But hate was one thing; daring to treat Wubao this way—daring to threaten her child—was unacceptable.
No one was allowed to harm her child.
The moment Yun Lie Ting saw the whip, the blood in his veins seemed to freeze solid.
His muscles tensed involuntarily as the fear and humiliation that had been sealed away for months came roaring back.
—That was the very whip from that night in Beastification City, the one that had beaten him until he was powerless to resist, the one that had stripped him of all his dignity!
He stared at the whip’s cold, glinting surface, his eyes bloodshot. His chest heaved violently, and a rough, utterly suppressed pant escaped his throat.
The next second, the spiritual power around him erupted. Golden beast markings writhed frantically beneath his skin as his form abruptly shifted, instantly shedding his beast shape to reveal a tall, yet wretched, human figure.
The man’s clothes were torn, and blood stained the corner of his mouth.
The wound on his chest from her earlier strike still throbbed with pain, but the unwillingness and shock in his eyes were even more intense than his physical injuries.
He used the broken tree to haul himself upright, his gaze glued to the whip in Shen Yue’s hand.
His voice was as hoarse as if it had been scraped with sandpaper.
"It was you... It was really you..."
Shen Yue looked down at him, her red robes fluttering in the mountain wind. The coldness in her eyes did not recede. With a light flick of her wrist, the whip let out another sharp CRACK, making Yun Lie Ting’s fingertips tremble.
"Apologize to Wubao," she said, enunciating each word, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.
"Bow your head and admit you were wrong for abducting him, threatening him, and insulting him."
Her powerful, irrefutable tone was like that used to train a beast.
She wasn’t treating Yun Lie Ting like a person at all—just like that time in Beastification City!
Wubao hid behind Shen Yue, his small hands clutching the hem of her robes as he stared at Yun Lie Ting with tear-filled eyes.
Though tear tracks still stained his little face, he now had the bolstered courage of a child protected by his female mother.
