Chapter 303: Chapter 301: This Silly Leopard Is So Easy to Tease

After the two father-daughter pairs left, thanking her profusely, Shen Yue turned and walked toward the stove.

The hem of her dress swept across the bluestone path, stirring up the faint, fresh scent of morning dew.

As soon as she lifted the kitchen’s straw curtain, she saw Mu Silin standing by the stove, awkwardly wringing his large hands.

His dark green, beastly eyes avoided her gaze, and the tips of his ears were still tinged with a lingering red.

When he saw Shen Yue come in, his Adam’s apple bobbed. His voice was hoarse and a little strained as he said,

"Shen Yue, I... I didn’t mean to hurt that girl. When the mating frenzy came over me, I couldn’t control my strength. I did my best to hold back."

He had lived for so many years and had always been ruthless and decisive, yet he had never felt so guilty and anxious. He was terrified that Shen Yue would think him violent and merciless.

Seeing him so obviously panicked yet trying to force a calm expression, Shen Yue couldn’t help but smile.

"Don’t blame yourself. It couldn’t have been easy for you to maintain your self-control."

Her gentle words of reassurance made Mu Silin’s tense shoulders instantly relax.

The panic in his heart melted away, replaced by a spreading warmth. He just stood there dazedly, not knowing what to do with his hands and feet.

Shen Yue looked at his oafish yet endearing state and thought to herself, ’This silly Leopard is so awkward but cute. He’s supposed to be the Black Panther General whose power is renowned, but in front of me, he’s always like a big, overgrown cub.’

She suddenly grew very curious.

"Leopard, last night, did you..."

She trailed off, as if the words were difficult to say.

Mu Silin didn’t quite hear her and looked at her blankly.

"Huh? What?"

She cleared her throat and lowered her voice.

"Nothing. I was just wondering... did you use your hand last night?"

It took Mu Silin a couple of seconds to process that.

WHOOSH! His face instantly started to burn.

Even under the fine fur of his pointed leopard ears, you could see the red flush...

Mortified, he lowered his head, his voice so deep it seemed to rumble from his chest.

"Yeah."

That one word was all the confirmation she needed. A grin spread across Shen Yue’s face. ’So he did use his hand...’

Mu Silin saw the smile in her eyes and felt a certain part of him start to clamor for attention again. He abruptly spun around, embarrassedly covering himself...

’He wanted her so badly.’

’Heaven knew how he’d gotten through last night. Even though he’d used his hand, his mind had been filled with images of her...’

’Her in all sorts of situations.’

’Thinking back on those little scenes now, he felt so ashamed...’

’How could he be like this?’

Shen Yue watched the man’s stiff, turned back, and the curve of her lips widened even more...

’This silly Leopard really can’t take a bit of teasing!’

’Of course she knew he was getting worked up again.’

’Here it was, early in the morning, and my roguish side is already coming out, making lewd jokes...’

’But I have to admit, a life spent teasing men and being surrounded by them... it’s pretty heavenly...’

’But alas, can the future really be like this?’

Behind her, Huang Ziyue walked in slowly, a faint trace of melancholy flickering in his dark red eyes.

He watched the way Shen Yue gently teased Mu Silin and knew with perfect clarity that after last night, after the immense restraint shown by both Mu Silin and Ye Lüqi, Shen Yue’s heart—and her person—would never belong to him alone.

The possessiveness of a Flood Dragon King was carved into his very bones. The thought of having to share the one he held dearest with others inevitably stirred a sour bitterness and discomfort within him.

But as he lowered his gaze to Shen Yue’s back, already busy with her work, that displeasure gradually faded.

He was her first Beast Husband. From the moment he had chosen her, his sole obsession in this life had been to ensure she was safe, happy, and carefree.

As for the rest—whether he had her to himself or had to share—none of it mattered as long as she was happy.

Huang Ziyue stood behind Shen Yue, watching her quietly, the weariness in his eyes completely eclipsed by tenderness.

Unaware of the man’s thoughts behind her, Shen Yue went straight to her dimensional storage and took out a fresh free-range chicken, lotus root, radishes, and corn. Then she brought out the wheat she had stored.

Some days ago, Ye Lüqi and Si Muye had built a stone mill from hard granite according to a blueprint she had drawn, and now it was time to put it to use.

She had long wanted to make a meal with flour for the children, but she simply hadn’t had the time.

She poured the wheat into the stone mill. Mu Silin, having composed himself, immediately stepped forward to help push the millstone.

His broad palms pushed the millstone with steady, powerful motions, and fine white flour rustled down.

Shen Yue then took out some eggs to mix with the flour, kneading it into a smooth dough. She shaped the dough into plump, round steamed buns and other fun shapes, arranging them in a steamer basket.

Next, she put the free-range chicken—which Huang Ziyue had already prepared—into a pot along with the lotus root, radishes, and other vegetables to stew.

Mu Silin stoked the fire, and in just an hour, the rich aroma of chicken soup began to fill the air, wafting from the steel pot.

The savory smell was enough to make anyone’s mouth water.

And the moment the steamer lid was lifted, a cloud of white steam billowed out, carrying the fragrant scent of wheat.

Just then, the six little cubs inside the house woke up and came rushing over, stumbling on their short little legs.

Shen Yue’s lips curved into a gentle smile.

"Did my babies sleep well?"

The little ones stared at the food in the pot with wide, round eyes, their voices still thick with sleep.

"Mhm, we’re awake!"

"Wow, Female Mother, it smells so good!"

"What did you make today? Er Bao doesn’t think I’ve ever seen it before!"

"What’s this? It’s so white! Wubao wants to eat it!"

The little ones circled around Shen Yue’s legs, their sweet, pleading questions heart-meltingly cute.

Si Muye, Bai Chaosi, and Gu Fangqi were also up. Having just finished sweeping the courtyard, they walked over, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Gazing at the fragrant, steaming buns in the pot, none of them knew what they were!

Meanwhile, Ye Lüqi, who had said he was going to check on the fields at Bright Mountain, returned in just half an hour.

He stood at the entrance with a stern expression on his handsome face, feigning composure. But his constantly bobbing Adam’s apple and his intense stare fixed on the soup pot betrayed the fact that he was starving.

After struggling all night, he had long since exhausted his strength. Now, ensnared by the enticing aroma, he found himself unable to take a single step away.

Shen Yue smiled, ladling the chicken soup into large bowls and placing the steamed buns on the table.

"These are steamed buns. They’re made from flour, which comes from the wheat I showed you all before. Once the wheat ripens, it can be ground into flour to make all sorts of food. Steamed buns are one kind! This is also what’s known as a staple grain."

Hearing her explanation, they all understood.

Ever since Shen Yue had decided to reclaim the wasteland so that Barbaric City could grow its own crops, she had told them about wheat and even shown them what it looked like.

At the time, they hadn’t understood how those tiny heads of wheat could possibly be turned into food.

Now, they understood. They had even seen it with their own eyes!

Everyone in the courtyard marveled. So this was a staple grain. This was the true meaning of agriculture!

The stone table wasn’t large, but it was now crowded with people. The little ones sat on their own special small stools, their faces covered in crumbs as they gnawed on the steamed buns with their little hands.

"Whoa! The steamed buns are so yummy!"

"It’s a little sweet and so soft! Female Mother, this is the most delicious thing ever!"

Shen Yue looked after them, saying,

"Eat slowly, don’t choke. Chew it well before you swallow, okay?"

"Mhm, we will!"

"Female Mother should eat too! You worked hard cooking!"

Beside her, Mu Silin, Huang Ziyue, and the others also ate heartily, a steamed bun in one hand and a bowl of soup in the other.

The deliciousness of the chicken soup melted on their tongues, and all their exhaustion and weariness vanished in the warm, homey atmosphere.

The courtyard was filled with cheerful chatter and laughter. The aroma of the food drifted over the courtyard walls and wrapped around the old tree at the entrance to the lane.

Hidden in the shadows, Yun Lie Ting stared intently at the joyous, harmonious scene within the courtyard.

The lingering aroma of chicken soup and wheat teased his nose. His stomach rumbled at the inopportune moment, and saliva pooled in his mouth.
