Shattered Fate
27- A Stranger's Threat
Later in that day ,Wail and Amira were moving from a store to another.
Amira stopped at every store that caught her attention, while Wail eventually ended up carrying bags in both hands, until they nearly blocked his view.
Finally, they stopped in front of a small sweets shop, where a girl stood behind the counter, smiling at them.
Amira turned to Wail.
"Do you want anything?"
He sighed as he tried to see between the bags.
"Before that... I'd like to be able to see where I'm going."
The girl laughed.
"Looks like you're carrying half the shopping by yourself."
Wail smiled shyly.
Then the girl looked at the two of them and teased:
"How long have you two been together?"
Amira's face immediately turned red.
"N... no, it's not what you think."
But Wail calmly said:
"We're just friends."
Amira gave him a slightly sad look.
Then she turned toward the girl.
For a moment, the girl's eyes widened unintentionally before she looked away awkwardly.
The girl smiled and tilted her head slightly.
"Is something wrong?"
She quickly replied:
"No... I just got distracted for a moment."
Amira watched her with a mischievous smile.
"Looks like you two would get along."
Wail became even more flustered.
The girl laughed.
"But we just met."
Amira took a step away.
"That's the best time to get to know each other."
She pointed toward a nearby store.
"I'm going to buy something. I'll be back in a little while... Take your time."
She left, waving at them with a smile.
The girl laughed.
"Your friend is nice."
Then she extended her hand.
"I'm Sara."

Wail shook her hand shyly.
"Wail."
She smiled.
"Nice to meet you."
A brief silence passed between them before she said:
"My shift will end soon... If you don't mind, we could take a walk for a while."
Wail raised his head in surprise.
He hesitated for a few seconds before answering:
"If... if it wouldn't be an inconvenience for you, then sure."
She smiled.
"I'm the one who suggested it!"
---
At the same time...
Bahaa stood on top of the mountain hill with his eyes closed, while Yassin stood in front of him, watching.
"Focus... the source of your energy is your heart. If you can't direct it from there, you won't be able to control it."
Bahaa took a deep breath.
Purple energy began gathering in his palm before a small portal of the same color opened in front of him.
It remained open for a few seconds, but disappeared as soon as he opened his eyes.
He breathed heavily before dropping to one knee.
"Good... you're making progress," Yassin said.
Bahaa wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"I don't understand... How was I able to open them so easily before?"
"Because it wasn't entirely your power."
Yassin paused for a moment before continuing.
"Most likely, Dark was the one opening them."
Bahaa looked at him.
Yassin continued:
"Any power you reached before can be regained. It's true that recovering this ability will be more difficult because Dark was the reason you had it, but you'll reach it if you keep training."
Bahaa stood up again.
Yassin smiled.
"And now... attack me with everything you have."
The moment Bahaa charged forward, Yassin's voice became mixed with an old memory...
---
Everything was destroyed.
An unknown figure was holding Bahaa by the throat, lifting him off the ground.
Only two eyes could be seen clearly, with a strange red mark between them.
"I thought you were better than this," the figure said coldly.
Then he threw Bahaa away.
"Fill yourself with rage and hatred, then come back for your revenge..."
And disappeared.
Bahaa crawled with difficulty until he reached the body of a woman lying on the ground.
He froze.
Then tears began streaming down his face as he punched the ground violently.
With every strike, a golden aura surged from his body.
---
He returned to reality.
The golden aura had completely surrounded him, and he charged toward Yassin with everything he had.
---
Elsewhere...
Amira was waiting beside a fountain in the park.
After a few minutes, she spotted Sara approaching.
She smiled faintly, then whispered to Wail:
"Go."
He looked at her in confusion.
She gently pushed him forward.
"I'll catch up with you later."
Wail approached Sara, and the two walked together in silence for a short while.
Then he smiled.
"I feel like this situation is a little strange."
She laughed.
"I was going to say the same thing."
He laughed as well.
"So... where do we start?"
"Tell me about yourself."
---
Time passed, and the two sat on a bench overlooking the fountain.
Wail began telling her about his studies, his daily life, and some funny situations he had experienced, completely avoiding any mention of the Elements or the battles.
He learned that she was one year older than him, that she had come from another country and lived with her grandmother, while her parents had returned to their homeland because of work.
After a while, she asked:
"How long have you known Amira?"
He smiled.
"Would you believe me if I told you it's only been five months?"
She was surprised.
"Really? I thought you had known each other for years."
He smiled.
"Even I find that strange sometimes."
She smiled as she looked at him.
"Honestly... I thought you two were a couple."
He shook his head.
"No. She loves someone else."
She was silent for a moment before asking:
"What about you?"
He answered hesitantly.
"No... I don't feel the same way about her."
She watched him for a moment.
"So... there's no other girl?"
At that moment, an image of Layla crossed his mind, smiling at him beneath the light of the sunset.
His thoughts lingered on her for a moment.
Then he returned to reality, a calm smile appearing on his face.
"Maybe... not yet."
"You seem like a good person, Wail... and I'm sure you'll find the right person for you."
They continued talking as the fountain water danced beneath the sunlight.
---
Evening arrived, and Wail and Sara were walking along the river.
"I enjoyed talking with you... Next time, let's have something to eat together," she said.
Wail smiled.
"I'd be happy to."
They exchanged phone numbers, then Sara said goodbye and left.
Wail remained there watching her until she disappeared among the crowd.
At that moment, a voice behind him said:
"You're Wail... aren't you?"
He turned around and found two young men standing a few steps away.
"Yes... Who are you?"
"I'm Noel, and this is Sam. We just want to talk to you for a little while, if that's okay," one of them said.
"I'm busy. Get to the point," Wail replied.
Sam smiled sarcastically.
"Easy, kid. We're busy too, but we still came all this way for you."
"Then it must be important."
"It is... and I suggest we go somewhere quieter," Noel said.
Wail immediately interrupted him.
"I don't think so. There's no one else here. Talk."
Noel composed himself and spoke seriously.
"Come with us... and don't make us resort to violence."
Wail's focus sharpened, and he clenched his fist, ready for anything.
Before either of them could say another word, a familiar voice came from behind.
"Sounds like an interesting conversation... Mind if I join?"
The two turned around and found Bahaa approaching with calm steps until he stood beside Wail.
Sam frowned.
"You... this has nothing to do with you. We only want this kid."
Bahaa smiled.
"I know... and that's why I'm joining the conversation."
Noel intervened.
"Don't take this the wrong way. We don't intend to hurt him. We only want to talk."
"Then talk here," Bahaa replied firmly.
The two looked at each other for a few seconds before turning around and leaving.
Before he got too far, Noel said without looking back:
"Don't you dare leave him alone again."
Bahaa replied:
"And don't come back."
Sam laughed as he continued walking.
"Don't worry... we'll meet again soon."
The two disappeared at the end of the road.
Bahaa's smile faded.
"What do you think? Do you think they're Element Users?"
"I wouldn't rule it out. I didn't feel any energy from either of them, but their behavior suggests they know something," Wail replied, watching the direction they had left in.
Bahaa nodded.
"Be careful, and don't wander too far from us. Don't forget, we agreed that none of us would move around alone."
Wail nodded silently.
Bahaa left afterward, while Wail remained standing there, staring toward the direction where the two strangers had disappeared.
For the first time since returning to his normal life, he felt that something had begun moving again...
And that the peace he had enjoyed throughout the past few months would not last much longer.
