She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 222 - 148: You Really Have the Nerve_3
Inside the room, Han Lei continued to focus on her work, as if everything outside was irrelevant to her.
Ms Li walked up to her, swallowed with difficulty, and said softly, "Princess Consort, I’m back. Is there anything else I need to do?"
Han Lei finally looked up at her, her gaze falling on the hemostatic clamp: "Hand me the hemostatic clamp."
Ms Li nodded, followed Han Lei’s gaze, and steadily handed over the hemostatic clamp.
This time, she avoided looking at the bloody wound, but her heart was filled with determination.
Hua Tianyou took a deep breath upon seeing this, trying to concentrate on Han Lei’s actions to distract himself from his discomfort.
Finally, Han Lei extracted a blood-stained bullet with tweezers, gently placing it on the tray beside her.
She quickly stopped the bleeding and sutured the wound, her skilled movements were astonishing.
"Alright, the bullet’s out."
Han Lei let out a long sigh, removed her gloves, and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
"You... you really have a steady hand."
Hua Tianyou’s mouth twitched, but after thinking it over, he felt he hadn’t said it right, and instead said with admiration, "Your medical skills are truly outstanding, I’ve never seen such exquisite technique."
Han Lei smiled slightly, her tone carrying a hint of fatigue: "This is just basic surgery, nothing special. You’re unfamiliar with it, so naturally, you find it novel."
She turned and fetched a pillow and blanket from the space, gently turning the dying man over to lie on his side on the table.
Afterwards, she called several servants to guard here, to observe the dying man’s condition, and to notify her if he woke up.
As she exited the dining hall, Hua Tianyou and Ms Li’s faces remained pale.
The two exchanged a glance and rushed simultaneously to the jujube tree in the yard, supporting the trunk face to face, bending over, vomiting till they were dizzy.
Han Lei stood at the door, watching them vomit excessively, shaking her head slightly.
She turned to the old lady and said, "Mother, that person is alright now, he’ll wake up soon, no need to worry. I’m a bit tired, I’ll go freshen up first."
Upon hearing this, the old lady finally felt relieved, and said with concern, "Alright, you rest first. I’ll call you for dinner later."
Just as the old lady finished speaking, Hua Tianyou’s voice quickly came through: "I won’t eat, I won’t eat. Don’t call me."
After the bloody and horrifying scene just now, how could he still eat?
Han Lei rolled her eyes speechlessly, turned around, and walked toward her courtyard. Her figure looked particularly mysterious under the moonlight, as if shrouded in an impenetrable mist.
Hua Tianyou wiped the corner of his mouth, leaned against the jujube tree watching Han Lei’s departing figure, filled with doubt and immense awe in his heart.
He always had the feeling that Han Lei was hiding too many secrets, and what they saw might only be the tip of the iceberg.
More than half an hour later, Han Lei had just finished freshening up and eating dinner, when a servant came to report that the dying man had woken up.
When the dying man lying on the table slowly opened his eyes, the room fell silent, everyone’s gaze focused on this man, as if unable to believe the scene before them.
"Awake! Really awake!"
Ms Li was the first to exclaim, her voice carrying undisguisable excitement and admiration.
Having seen Han Lei’s work with clamps and tweezers earlier, Ms Li once thought it wasn’t saving a person but tormenting one.
Unexpectedly, this man’s fate was impervious, for he actually woke up.
Seeing Han Lei enter, Ms Li quickly walked to Han Lei’s side, tears glistening in her eyes.
"Miss Han, your medical skills are truly miraculous! Just now I thought he... he..."
She choked up, unable to continue, gripping Han Lei’s hand tightly as if holding onto a lifeline.
She must have accumulated great fortune in her past life to encounter a doctor like Han Lei.
Previously, when Han Lei mentioned her son’s leg needed to be broken before it could be reset, she hesitated, unsure whether to accept Han Lei’s treatment.
But today, witnessing such masterful and miraculous medical skills firsthand, she was convinced Han Lei would surely heal her son’s leg.
Han Lei knew what was on her mind, simply smiled slightly, gently patted the back of Ms Li’s hand, her tone warm yet undeniably tired.
"Ms Li, don’t worry, your son’s leg is just a minor surgery."
"Yes! Yes!"
Ms Li nodded repeatedly with excitement.
Everyone else in the room continued to discuss in low voices, with endless words of praise.
"The Princess Consort truly is a divine healer!"
"Just now, I thought there was no hope, but unexpectedly..."
"Indeed, fortunately, the Princess Consort returned."
Han Lei ignored the words of praise, her gaze falling on the dying man.
His wrists still had transfusion tubes inserted, his face pale, spirit weary, yet his gaze remained cold, carrying a hint of vigilance and hostility.
Han Lei approached him, looking down at him, her tone chilling.
"Speak, who sent you? How many of you came in total? Why do you want to kill Zhao Zun?"
The dying man kept his lips tightly shut, his gaze icy, as if he hadn’t heard her question.
The old lady, seeing this, frowned and spoke with anger: "You rogue, hurry up and speak! Or do you want us to resort to torture?"
Hua Tianyou also stepped forward, coldly staring at the dying man, his voice deep.
"If you speak honestly, you might save your life. Otherwise, don’t blame us for being ruthless."
The dying man remained silent, even his gaze held no ripple, like a stone statue.
The old lady turned pale with anger: "Utterly stubborn!"
Hua Tianyou’s eyes flashed with a hint of arrogance, he reached out and grabbed the dying man’s collar, his voice icy: "Do you think silence will get you through? We have ways to make you talk!"
The dying man merely cast a sidelong glance at him, still showing no response, not even a furrow of his brow, presenting a death-defying demeanor.
Han Lei watched, understanding the usual threats and inducements were futile against such a man.
She raised her hand to signal Hua Tianyou to release him, her tone calm yet carrying undeniable authority.
"Tianyou, Mother, no need to waste words. Since he refuses to speak, further pressure is useless."
The old lady sighed, unwilling to accept, "Are we just letting it go? He nearly harmed Zun’s life!"
Han Lei shook her head slightly, her gaze cold.
"He won’t easily open his mouth, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have means."
The dying man glanced at Han Lei again, seeing a charming and sweet maiden, couldn’t help but sneer.
He completely disregarded her.
