She Kept the Baby and Ditched the Husband
Chapter 119 Mr. Sterling, Just Grant Her Wish to Be a Mother
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Mr. Sterling, Just Grant Her Wish to Be a Mother
Speaking of this, Stella Sutton raised an eyebrow.
This was what brought her the most satisfaction.
Although she had nearly been sued because of Sophie Winslow, at the very least, Sophie ended up with nothing. With Helios’s new drug launching on the market, the other woman could only watch in jealousy.
Meanwhile, she was already preparing for her robotics project.
What did Sophie have? She had missed out on being credited for the project and lacked the ability anyway. No wonder she had flown into a rage out of humiliation.
"So, you’ve decided to invest?" Stella Sutton looked at Finn Lockwood.
She knew Finn would definitely invest in her project. After all, she was the one who had saved his grandfather’s life. On that merit alone, Finn would always support her.
Finn Lockwood closed the proposal. "I have no problem with it. This project of yours is much more reliable than Helios’s pie-in-the-sky project with its impossible technical barriers."
Stella’s smile deepened. She immediately looked at Evan York. "What do you think, Mr. York?"
Truthfully, she hoped Evan would invest even more. The York Family’s background would serve as a powerful brand and endorsement for her.
With Julian Sterling, Evan York, and Finn Lockwood as investors for her project, its starting point was already at a height others could never reach in a lifetime. Once it went public, its grand background and stellar reputation would become the strongest addition to her resume. When that time came, the National Academy of Somatic Medicine would have no reason not to recruit her.
And once she entered the National Academy of Somatic Medicine, her future would be completely limitless.
Stella had assumed Evan would be just as optimistic about her as Finn was, without any hesitation about investing.
But after she asked, Evan remained silent.
The smile on Stella’s lips faded slightly. "Mr. York?"
Evan finally looked over, snapping out of his daze. "The company will run an evaluation for this process. If it’s suitable, we will naturally invest."
This polite but distant response made Stella purse her lips in displeasure. What she wanted was Evan’s unhesitating support and blatant favoritism. Needing an evaluation before making a decision made her feel like Evan valued profits more than he valued her.
However, she could understand it. Evan had a good relationship with her, but he also had to consider the company’s senior management. He couldn’t just play dictator.
She reined in her thoughts, making sure not to make her feelings too obvious. "Alright, I understand."
Julian Sterling checked his watch, no longer paying attention to the direction Sophie had gone. "Let’s go discuss the details first."
Evan then said, "I left my phone in the car. You guys go ahead."
Julian nodded, leading Stella and Finn straight toward the meeting area.

By the time Sophie Winslow came over, the crabapple tree had already sprouted buds. It probably wouldn’t be long before it bloomed.
She had clearly overthought things. The crabapple tree had been perfectly maintained; it hadn’t been neglected.
Just as she was about to head back, she turned around and ran into Evan York.
Sophie kept her eyes straight ahead, treating him entirely like thin air.
Evan was the first to lose his patience. Frowning, he immediately turned and matched her pace. "Can’t you have a little backbone? If you’re getting a divorce, just get a divorce. Does coming back here to grovel and beg for pity actually do anything?"
Sophie frowned, ignoring him.
But Evan took her silence as a refusal to listen. His face grew even colder. "What’s the point of coming back so eagerly? Julian has no feelings for you. No matter how much effort you put into winning him back, it’s all in vain. What does this accomplish other than making him look down on you even more?"
Sophie still ignored him.
For some inexplicable reason, Evan felt a surge of anger. "Sophie, can’t you have some self-respect? Julian doesn’t love you that much. You might as well let him have his way. At least he’ll remember the favor, which will only benefit you when you need to establish yourself in society later."
Sophie stopped in her tracks.
She genuinely didn’t understand what Evan’s point was in running over here just to argue with her. Like a lingering ghost, he was dead set on pestering her and making her miserable.
"Did he ask you to come be a lobbyist for Stella Sutton?" Sophie retorted.
Evan’s thin lips parted slightly.
Stella’s lobbyist? He thought about it for a second. It really did look that way.
"It’s best if you understand the reasoning here," he said, staring at Sophie’s face.
Lately, he had been constantly preoccupied with this matter. It had reached the point where he almost thought he was developing feelings for his best friend’s wife. However, he wasn’t a man oblivious to matters of the heart; he could still tell that wasn’t the case.
Sophie’s eyes turned red out of sheer anger.
Madam Sterling was pressuring her, Julian had bullied her by standing her up, and the custody of Lydia hung over her neck like a guillotine, leaving her restless. Now, Evan York had come to act as a lobbyist for Julian’s mistress, telling her to step aside. She almost thought she was Kurovian, with the way everyone was out to get her.
"Who do you think you are to me? What gives you the right to order me around?" she demanded, enunciating every word. Her eyes were filled with icy coldness and an unyielding stubbornness.
Evan looked at her reddened eyes. This was the first time he had ever seen Sophie look... wronged.
In the past, Sophie had only ever been rude to him, bristling with thorns. Never like now, where she could no longer hold back her feelings of grievance.
His lips moved, and for no apparent reason, his chest painfully spasmed, flooded with an ache he couldn’t even begin to understand.
Yeah. Who was he to Sophie? Why did he insist on interfering in her business?
"Stay out of my sight," Sophie snapped, having reached the end of her tolerance. Throwing down the harsh words, she walked away without looking back.

Back in her room, Sophie washed her face.
Julian bringing people back tonight was entirely unexpected. The old her might have felt bitter about it, as his behavior was a complete slap in the face to her as his wife.
But now, she felt it was a good thing. At the very least, it showed that Julian was entirely devoted to Stella. He would definitely be more anxious than she was to finalize the divorce.
This was exactly the result she wanted.
She had no idea how late Julian’s gathering would last. Sophie didn’t care, nor did she rush him. After all, her presence here today had been discovered by Stella, and Julian was bound to spend quite some time coaxing her.
The drug approval process for Helios was about to begin, and she needed to confirm the final wrap-up work. Only work could help her temporarily alleviate the anxiety brought on by uncertainty.
At nearly eleven o’clock that night, Julian Sterling walked through the door.
Ms. Coleman hadn’t gone to rest yet. Seeing that Julian had returned, she hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Mr. Sterling, the missus has been waiting for you in her room for a long time."
Hooking two fingers under his tie, Julian loosened it left and right. His handsome, refined eyes swept a glance upstairs. "When did my wife come back?"
Ms. Coleman chuckled cheerfully. "She moved back early this morning. When she returned, she seemed quite happy. I can tell that the missus has a soft heart. She still can’t bear to leave you."
To these words, Julian didn’t respond. He handed the coat that needed washing to Ms. Coleman. "Thank you."
Ms. Coleman was overjoyed and couldn’t help but speak out of turn again. "Women, you know, they tend to overthink. Having a child to distract them solves everything. Mr. Sterling, you should spend more time getting intimate with her and fulfill her wish of becoming a mother."
