"Now, it’s my turn, darling," Alex said with a low chuckle, keeping his hand right where it was.

He didn’t pull away. His fingers stayed buried deep inside her slick heat, his thumb resting heavy against her sensitive peak as every frantic flutter of her pulse beat straight into his palm.

Beside them, the deep bass from the club rattled the mahogany bar counter, vibrating through her spine and mixing with the suffocating heat in her gut.

Naomi dragged in a jagged breath, her chest rising and falling in sharp, uneven tremors as she desperately tried to compose herself.

It was useless.

The sensation was still traveling through her blood, a residual surge of raw, molten electricity that refused to fade, buzzing deep into the very marrow of her bones. Her pelvis thrummed with a heavy, humiliating ache. Her inner walls clenched around his invading fingers in helpless, involuntary pulses, betraying her with every second that ticked by.

The sheer pity she felt for herself burned worse than any wound. She had genuinely believed she was playing him... that she could play the cool, manipulative operative and wrap him around her finger.

Instead, she had handed him complete control. She had shown him that her body could be dismantled with effortless precision, proving every single arrogant assumption he held right.

Yet the most humiliating part of all was that beneath the bruised pride, she didn’t actually feel bad. If anything, a perverse, hollow ache stirred deep in her gut the moment his hand stilled... a shameful pang of loss that he had stopped moving, her traitorous nerves already craving the very friction that had just ruined her.

’Pull it together,’ she ordered herself, biting the inside of her cheek until the sharp sting of iron cleared the fog from her head. ’Don’t you dare give him another inch.’

She lifted her chin, meeting his mocking gaze with dark, simmering defiance, even as his fingers inside her gave another subtle, testing flex.

"Go on then," Naomi whispered, her voice rough, breathy, but sharp as a hidden blade. "You took your win. Ask your question."

Alex let out a low, rich laugh at her stubborn front, the sound rumbling against her chest.

"Fierce little creature, aren’t you?" he murmured, his eyes glittering with dark amusement. "Still trying to bare your teeth when you’re completely at my mercy. I just hope you can be honest with me, darling. Because if you’re not..."

He didn’t bother finishing the sentence. He didn’t need to. The heavy, unyielding presence of his fingers buried deep inside her slick heat delivered the threat far louder than words ever could.

He leaned in, his breath warm against her lips as he delivered his question.

"Tell me, darling... what do you, yourself, actually think about that old man? After working for him for this long?"

Naomi stared at him, a strange expression flickering across her face.

Of all the things she had braced herself for, this was the last question she had ever expected. For a second, she searched his sharp, mocking features, half-expecting him to laugh and reveal it was a setup.

Yet there was no change in him. Trapped in his grip, she actually found herself considering it.

What did she really think of Raymond Cole? She sifted through their brief time together—the slimy side-glances, the arrogant entitlement, the way his greedy hands constantly wandered over women young enough to be his daughters.

Only one unvarnished truth surfaced in her mind.

"Pervert," the word slipped past her lips in a breathless rasp before her discipline could censor it.

Alex barked out a laugh, thoroughly delighted by the insult.

"More perverted than me?" he purred.

Without a split second of warning, his fingers curled hard and deep inside her, his knuckles shifting in a sudden, sharp thrust against her inner walls.

The shock was total. Naomi’s back arched violently, a sharp, helpless cry tearing straight from her throat—

"Ah—!"

The sound tore through the air, but fortune favored her: the DJ dropped a crushing, distorted bassline at that exact microsecond. The wall of synthesized sound swallowed her cry whole, muffling the shattered note beneath the thunderous rhythm vibrating through the floorboards.

A few patrons ordering drinks just down the mahogany counter turned their heads toward the noise, their eyes cutting through the haze. But all they saw in the dim, pulsing strobes was a breathtaking woman straddling a handsome man’s lap, her hips pressed flush against his groin while she clung desperately to the lapels of his jacket.

Assuming it was nothing more than high-heat club foreplay, they exchanged amused smirks and turned right back to their glasses, leaving the two of them entirely alone in their private, suffocating crossfire.

Naomi glared up at him through a heavy haze of heat and humiliation, her chest heaving against his jacket. She looked thoroughly wronged, her dark eyes shining with sharp indignity and her lower lip trembling from the shock he had just torn through her.

Alex didn’t care in the slightest.

If anything, her bruised pride only seemed to amuse him more. His smirk remained infuriatingly relaxed, his thumb maintaining a slow, merciless pressure against her swollen peak while his fingers stayed buried deep inside her slick core, keeping her body shivering on a tightrope.

"Loyalty clearly isn’t in your contract," Alex murmured with a quiet chuckle, brushing his lips against her neck. "So tell me, darling... what exactly did the old bastard do to earn that title?"

"Because he is," Naomi scoffed, her voice low and biting. "You think you’re hunting some ruthless mastermind? The man is a walking midlife crisis. Half his fortune gets flushed down shady lounges and high-end escorts. But tonight wasn’t about business, and he didn’t drag his detail here to set a trap. He’s been haunting this club for three weeks straight for one pathetic reason."

Slowly, carefully, Naomi lifted her hand from his chest and used two fingers to subtly gesture toward the prime velvet booth situated on the opposite side of the floor.

There, elevated above the general crowd, sat an untouchable queen. Draped in black silk, she was flanked by a circle of women so breathtaking, polished, and effortlessly sensual that they served as the undisputed center of gravity for the entire club. Men threw fortunes across the bar just to catch a passing glance from them.

"Her," Naomi whispered, shifting slightly on his lap as her dark eyes locked back onto Alex’s sharp features. "He’s been obsessively courting her. Buying out champagne reserves, sending private invitations she won’t even open, completely obsessed. That ridiculous display down there on the floor? It wasn’t an escape plan, Alex. The old idiot got drunk, tried to show off in front of her booth with two rented distractions, and immediately got clowned by someone with half his age and twice his charisma."

She leaned down slightly, letting her lips hover inches from his, her gaze daring him to doubt her.

"Your grand target isn’t plotting against you tonight," she breathed, her pulse thudding against his palm. "He’s just an old pervert making a fool of himself for a woman who won’t even look at him."

Alex followed the line of Naomi’s gesture, his gaze cutting across the flashing neon and drifting haze toward the elevated prime booth.

At first glance, it had seemed like ordinary club excess. But looking at the dance floor now, with her words ringing in his head, the entire room rearranged itself before his eyes.

The chaos below wasn’t random. It was a performance.

Raymond Cole’s tense, desperate posturing; the younger kid flaunting the two girls like freshly won trophies; the men popping ten-thousand-dollar bottles at adjacent tables — every single one of them was angling their bodies, their laughter, and their swagger in the exact same direction. An entire floor of predators and peacocks, all dancing like trained dogs just to catch a flicker of attention from that single corner.

Alex’s gaze sharpened, settling on the woman at the center of it all.

She sat reclined against the deep velvet cushions, surrounded by her lethal circle of beauties, yet completely solitary in her presence.

She possessed a cold, effortless grace that made the rest of the room look cheap and frantic. Every line of her posture radiated an intoxicating magnetic pull... a woman so breathtaking that the entire club’s pulse seemed to bend around her like gravity.

Yet as Alex watched, his analytical instincts took over.

A face like that could turn heads anywhere, but Raymond Cole didn’t spend three weeks humiliating himself for mere beauty.

If Cole was groveling in the shadows for a crumb of her acknowledgment, it meant she wasn’t just a prize. She held real, terrifying power, the kind that made billionaires feel small.

Alex leaned in slightly, his hand still resting against Naomi’s thigh as he drank in the sight of her, piecing together the true hierarchy of the room.

Then, without warning, the woman tilted her head.

Through the flashing lasers, the thick smoke, and the surging sea of dancing bodies, her eyes cut straight across the distance.

She didn’t scan the crowd. She didn’t hesitate. Her gaze locked directly, unerringly onto Alex, pinning him against the mahogany counter where he sat with Naomi in his lap.

Slowly, deliberately, a knowing, dangerous smile curved her red lips.

A sharp, electric jolt hit Alex square in the chest.

His breath hitched, his hand instinctively tightening over Naomi’s hip. It was the exact same unnerving prickle he had felt on the back of his neck just minutes ago when Raymond had glanced his way... a cold, sinking certainty that he wasn’t looking at a target from the shadows.

He was being watched right back.
