She Was Written to Die, So She Seized the Throne Instead
Chapter 328: Disobedient Little Fool, Must We Invite You?
The Silver Armor Guards had the entire host family under control, with several cannon muzzles poised and ready to fire.
The Silver Armor Army occupied the entire area from the entrance to the wedding hall. On either side, the bombarded houses were still burning fiercely.
The scene was enough to drive anyone to despair.
Even the guards loyal to Prince Pei didn’t dare to step forward. They stood no chance of winning. Who would choose death over life?
Meanwhile, Prince Pei’s severed arm had landed right in front of the Princess Consort and Pei Chanjuan. The bloody limb was still twitching, and the two women were so paralyzed by fear they couldn’t even speak.
A golden blanket was spread over the seat of honor, and Xiao Li walked over and sat down.
Her expression was disdainful, her posture arrogant.
Her cold gaze swept nonchalantly over everyone before finally landing on Feng Yin.
Feng Yin had just been forced to perform the wedding ceremony, but as soon as the Empress arrived, his captors were driven away.
Though no one was restraining him now, he remained kneeling on the ground with his head bowed, as if all his strength had been drained away, leaving him unable to even look up.
Xiao Li spoke coolly, "Feng Tangtang, how long do you intend to wear those unsightly clothes?"
The man she called out to trembled. Without looking up, he obediently removed his wedding robes, revealing the white clothes underneath—garments he was not supposed to be wearing.
Seeing him still with his head down, acting like an ostrich burying its head in the sand...
Xiao Li tsked, her fingertips tapping the armrest. "Look up. I won’t say it a second time."
Feng Yin raised his head, but only halfway, his gaze landing on Xiao Li’s waist.
’His emotions were too turbulent, too complex. He had no idea how to face Xiao Li.’
Unexpectedly, the Empress extended a hand toward him, her teasing tone full of affection. "You disobedient little fool. Do I have to invite you over?"
It felt as if someone had viciously squeezed his heart. A tide of grievances surged up, threatening to drown him. He slowly removed his mask, revealing a face already streaked with tears.
The moment he looked up and met Xiao Li’s familiar, smiling eyes, he could no longer hold back and scrambled toward her. "Your Majesty..."
"Your Majesty..."
Feng Yin collapsed at Xiao Li’s knees, his arms wrapping tightly around her waist.
It was no wonder Xiao Li was so fond of Feng Yin. Even as he lunged forward in such an emotional state, his embrace was gentle and restrained.
He was like a wronged little puppy that had finally been reunited with its master, seeking her comfort with pitiful whimpers.
Seeing Feng Yin—who hadn’t even spared her a single glance—throw himself into the Empress’s arms sent Pei Chanjuan into a rage.
Looking at the Empress’s face only made her jealousy burn brighter.
’We’re both of the Imperial Family’s bloodline, so why does Xiao Xuanyang get to be so beautiful while I look like this?’
’Beauty, men, power—that woman has it all, and the very best of it. How can the heavens be so unfair?’
"Feng Yin! Don’t you forget, you are my husband! I am your wife!"
Jealousy made Pei Chanjuan forget her fear, forget that her own father’s severed hand lay right before her eyes.
All she wanted now was to declare her ownership of Feng Yin, hoping to gain a sense of superiority over the Empress.
Hearing this, Feng Yin immediately looked up. Ignoring the tearstains on his face, he desperately tried to explain to Xiao Li, "Your Majesty..."
Xiao Li raised a hand and pinched his lips. She had meant to shut him up, but his lips felt so soft that she couldn’t resist kneading them, neither too gently nor too roughly.
Seeing them flirt right in front of her, Pei Chanjuan burned with jealousy. Her already homely face twisted into the semblance of a demon.
"So what if you’re the Empress? He is my husband! You’re stealing another woman’s husb—"
A Silver Armor Guard quickly gagged her. ’Insulting Mr. Feng might be one thing, but provoking Her Majesty is out of the question.’
’If I didn’t have an order, I’d cut you down where you stand.’
Xiao Li paid no mind to Pei Chanjuan’s shrieking, but the girl was truly an eyesore.
’Having such an ugly thing flailing about feels like an assault on my eyes.’
Xiao Li placed her own dagger into Feng Yin’s palm. With her other hand, she gently caressed his tear-streaked cheek. Her alluring eyes were ice-cold, but her voice was as gentle as if she were coaxing a child.
"Be good. Kill her."
Hearing this, the Princess Consort’s already pale face turned ashen. Pinned down by the Silver Armor Guards, she couldn’t struggle free and could only shake her head, trembling. "No, Your Majesty... I beg you, spare my daughter, just this once... I beg you..."
Seeing Xiao Li’s cold and heartless expression, she then tried to persuade Feng Yin.
"Feng Yin, you can’t kill her! Chanjuan only loves you! A couple for a day shares a bond for a hundred... no, wait... you aren’t a couple. You haven’t married yet! Please, spare her life! We’ll call off the wedding..."
’We won’t fight for him anymore. We’ll give the Empress her man back, we’ll give him back.’
The only answer she received was the sound of a blade piercing flesh.
It was Feng Yin’s dagger plunging into Pei Chanjuan’s heart.
He thrust it deep. Seeing Pei Chanjuan’s face contorted in agony, he mercilessly pulled the blade out, only to stab her again with vicious force.
After two stabs, Pei Chanjuan was dead, her expression frozen in a twisted mask of agony and shock.
Having killed her, Feng Yin dropped the dagger and stood obediently before Xiao Li.
Xiao Li reached out and pinched his cheek, somewhat displeased. "You’ve lost weight."
’It’s not as cute, and it doesn’t feel as good to the touch.’
Feng Yin said nothing, merely pressing his lips together. He took Xiao Li’s hand and nuzzled it gently against his cheek, his eyes overflowing with an adoration he couldn’t suppress.
Xiao Li turned to order Rong Qing to take the prisoners into custody, but in the next moment, Feng Yin suddenly spewed a mouthful of blood, instantly staining his snow-white inner shirt crimson.
Xiao Li’s pupils constricted.
’Yun Jian had said Feng Yin was in poor health and suffered from a condition that made him cough up blood.’
’This wasn’t just *coughing* up blood. There was no warning at all; he was vomiting mouthfuls of it.’
Rong Qing immediately ordered two men, "Quick, find a physician!"
Xiao Li wanted to have Feng Yin sit down, but he clung to her hand, pleading in a low voice, "Your Majesty, please take me away from here. I don’t like it here."
Xiao Li glanced at the glaring red that filled the hall. It was indeed an eyesore.
They started to walk out, but Feng Yin’s steps were faltering, and he could barely stay on his feet. Xiao Li’s brow furrowed, and she bent down to lift him into her arms.
"Your Majesty..."
Feng Yin was aghast, a blush spreading across his pale face. "Your Majesty, put me down! I am a man, how can a woman carry me?"
Xiao Li held him tighter. "Don’t move, or I’ll drop you."
Feng Yin was a man, and though he was frail, he wasn’t light. Still, it was manageable—just within the limits of what Xiao Li could carry steadily.
Feng Yin couldn’t struggle free, nor did he have the heart to try.
In the end, he could only bury his face shyly in Xiao Li’s shoulder.
’It might be a little humiliating for a man, but this is Her Majesty.’
Whether it was from blood loss or extreme shyness, Feng Yin’s head grew dizzy, and he began to ramble.
"Your Majesty, is it really you?"
The Empress showed not a hint of gentleness. "Obviously."
"It feels like a dream," Feng Yin mumbled.
Xiao Li replied, "Then it’s rather impolite of your dream to drag me into it."
"Ha."
Even though there wasn’t a trace of gentleness in the Empress’s words, Feng Yin was overjoyed to hear them, the corners of his lips curling into a smile.
’This was his Majesty. If she had been gentle and fussed over his well-being, *that* would have felt fake.’
"Your Majesty, I missed you so much."
Xiao Li had no desire to respond to such nonsense, but seeing his condition, she could tell something was seriously wrong. "I’m here."
