Chapter 384: First Saint Grade Reward
As Rhain stepped across the threshold of that magnificent palace and onto the white jade-like floor...
[Ding!]
A crisp system notification sound rang out from the depths of his mind.
[Hidden Location Sign-In Node detected: Palace of the Ancient Saint.]
[Would you like to sign in?]
Rhain abruptly stopped, and a look of extreme astonishment flashed across his dark gray eyes.
A hidden location sign-In?
Since triggering a hidden sign-in in the Hollow Realm and obtaining the Red Tribulations Heavenly Flame, this is the second time that he has triggered a hidden sign-in!
He knows all too well what kind of sky shattering fortune could be contained in such a hidden node with an absurdly slim probability!
’Sign in,’ Rhain silently murmured to himself, his heart even beating slightly faster at that moment.
[Hidden Location Sign-In Successful!]
[Congratulations! You have received the Saint-Grade Reward: Pill of Reincarnation.]
[Item automatically sent to System Inventory.]
A torrent of profound knowledge integrated directly into his consciousness, detailing the properties of the pill.
[Pill of Reincarnation: As long as the host is not directly annihilated by a Sovereign-level transcendent being, after consuming this pill, regardless of the severity of the fatal injury, the host can be resurrected without damage. Furthermore, upon resurrection, the body would permanently adapt, granting immunity to whatever specific law, poison, or physical force had killed them.]
Rhain sucked in a sharp breath of cold air.
Immunity to death.
Instant resurrection in perfect condition. And permanent immunity to whatever managed to kill him!
Unless a legendary Sovereign personally eradicate him, he essentially possessed a second life.
"This is... an unimaginable trump card,’ Rhain murmured inwardly, forcefully suppressing the shock threatening to destroy his placid composure.
"Rhain? What is it?" Lyra asked, noticing his momentary pause.
"Nothing. Let us keep moving," Rhain replied smoothly.
He took a quiet breath, perfectly concealing his internal turmoil, and continued walking deeper into the colossal palace alongside Lyra.
The two walked side by side into the depths of the main hall.
The entire palace was deathly silent, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing in the empty space.
Before long, their gaze passed through the layers of magnificent golden jade pillars and settled on a corner of the hall.
There, leaning against the wall, sat an old man dressed in a black robe.
The old man’s eyes were closed as if in a deep meditation, but upon a closer look, it was clear that his life force long since extinguished.
But what was truly surprising was that, despite the erosion of countless years, his body showed no signs of decay; in fact, a chillingly powerful aura emanated from his skin.
And above that immortal body, a semi-transparent phantom of a soul silently floated—the very remnant soul of the old man they had encountered during the trial!
Upon seeing the physical body, Rhain and Lyra both stopped in their tracks, speechless with shock at the sight before them.
"You’ve finally arrived." The old man’s remnant soul slowly spoke, his gaze sweeping over the two of them.
"To preserve a physical body perfectly for centuries after death..." Lyra gasped softly, her crimson eyes filled with awe. "Just how high was your cultivation, Senior?"
The old man chuckled, shaking his head dismissively. "When you reach the end of your lifespan and turn into a wandering ghost, past cultivation means very little."
His once calm and composed eyes now revealed undisguised deep admiration and amazement.
"Extraordinary... Your talent and power, even in my time, would have been astonishing." The old man’s remnant soul stroked his beard and sighed. Then, his gaze slowly turned to Rhain, his eyes revealing a look of amazement, "Especially you, young man. I’m not surprised that she has such talent, after all, she has the blood of that clan flowing in her veins, a clan that is known for producing monsters... But you, time and time again, have completely shattered my understanding. Your existence is simply beyond reason."
Upon hearing the old man’s words, Lyra’s beautiful eyes trembled.
She remembered the old man mentioning her bloodline when they had first entered the garden, but hearing him speak of it again with such certainty made her heart pound wildly.
Her mother had never mentioned anything to her about her father or the family behind him, which had always been the deepest thorn in her heart.
"Senior!" Lyra stepped forward, her hands clenched tightly, "You just mentioned my clan... What do you know about my family?"
The old man stroked his translucent beard, his eyes filled with a nostalgic light.
"You truly do not know?" the old man murmured, somewhat surprised. "Your bloodline belongs to the Blazing Sun Clan."
"The Blazing Sun Clan..." Lyra repeated the name, her crimson eyes widening.
"It is one of the most powerful, and dominant clans of the Central Continent," the old man revealed, his voice ringing with pride. "They are an existence that stands at the very apex of the Verdane Continent. In my prime, I was honored to be among the few trusted friends of the Clan’s patriarchs."
He looked deeply at Lyra, observing the pure, orange-crimson True Heavenly Flame that inherently lingered in her meridians.
"Your father’s status within the Blazing Sun Clan must not be low," the old man deduced with a tone of certainty. "In fact, he must be a direct descendant of the main branch. The purity of your bloodline is one of the highest I have ever seen. It is nearly immaculate."
Lyra stood completely paralyzed, her mind buzzing with old man’s words.
The Central Continent. One of the most dominant clans in the continent. Main branch.
The father who had abandoned her was not some wandering rogue, but a titan belonging to a lineage of monsters.
Rhain, who had been listening quietly, analyzed the information.
It perfectly explained why the Solathane Emperor lived in perpetual terror of Lyra’s father.
A behemoth from the Central Continent could likely erase a peripheral dynasty like Solathane with a mere wave of their hand.
Stepping forward, Rhain asked the question troubling his mind.
"Senior," Rhain spoke respectfully, his dark grey eyes sharp and inquiring. "If you were a friend of the patriarchs in the Central Continent, you clearly do not belong to this remote Solathane Dynasty. How did an existence like you end up dying in the Sunless Umbral Basin?"
The warm nostalgia on the old man’s translucent face instantly vanished.
An expression of profound rooted hatred and melancholic sadness clouded his ancient eyes.
"I came to these desolate lands in search of something..." the old man murmured, his voice turning bitter. "But the heavens are cruel. My enemies somehow discovered my tracks. I was ambushed by several powerful experts."
The remnant soul let out a long, heavy sigh. "I fought for seven days and seven nights, but I was gravely injured. To survive, I had no choice but to flee into the depths of the Sunless Umbral Basin. I managed to shake them off and constructed this hidden spatial realm... but the damage to my soul was irreversible. Eventually, I perished here."
The old man shook his head, forcefully pulling himself out of the painful memories of the past. He looked at Rhain and Lyra, his eyes softening once more.
"I have long accepted my fate," the old man smiled gently. "My only regret was that I spent my entire life pursuing the peak, and never took a wife, nor did I ever accept a single disciple. I thought my legacy would disappear from this world with me."
He looked at them with immense expectation.
"But the gods have sent you two to me. By passing my inheritance to you, it can be considered as passing on my lineage. I only hope that you both will keep my name alive in the vast world."
Rhain and Lyra both offered a deep, solemn bow. "We will not disappoint you, Senior."
"Good. Now, sit cross-legged," the old man commanded gently. "It’s time to receive my legacy."
Rhain and Lyra exchanged a solemn glance before obediently sitting down on the white jade floor and closing their eyes.
