Chapter 804: Chapter 358: Special Service Bureau (2)

After the taxi left the city, it headed south.

The tall buildings along the road gradually began to decrease, replaced by low-rise buildings like urban villages. After another fifteen minutes, both sides were lush forests.

"Officer, are you here on business?"

"Sort of."

Because Gu Ji was wearing a special police uniform, the driver was curious all the way.

Just as he casually said something, suddenly, a dazzling bright light flashed from the forest on the mountainside in the distance, instantly catching Gu Ji’s attention.

"Driver, slow down the car, drive slower!"

"Huh? Oh, okay..."

The driver initially wanted to claim that he had driven for over ten years without ever having an accident, but since the other party was a police officer, he complied and reduced the speed.

As the car turned, Gu Ji slowly crouched down, hiding in the shadow of the door. He then took out his cellphone, using the zoom lens to focus on the spot where the light had flashed.

The next second, the light flashed again.

"Stop! Stop immediately!"

"Huh?"

"Stop immediately, driver!!"

Faced with Gu Ji’s sudden shout, the driver was frightened and quickly braked hard, stopping by the roadside. He took out a red bill from his pocket, "The money is in the back seat! Hurry!"

After speaking, he swiftly opened the car door, directly rolling out from the back seat into the roadside bushes.

Seeing this scene, the driver thought there was a criminal ahead and got so scared that he whipped the car around, stepping on the gas pedal as if trying to push it through the fuel tank, frantically fleeing.

In the bushes, Gu Ji quickly crawled on the ground, rushing to a shaded area under a tree.

Rising, he leaned against the trunk and took out his cellphone, once again using the zoom lens to observe the distance. The flash had vanished.

Gu Ji was now 100% certain; that was definitely not a natural reflection!

Now, after gaining the Blade Anti-Terror Special Warfare Team system, his scouting and counter-scouting abilities were one level higher than before. Added to his experiences in high-intensity battlefields in Brazil, having gone through multiple counter-sniper engagements, the first sight of such a reflection from inside the taxi had already aroused his alertness.

It is well known that in nature, apart from ice and minerals, very few objects can reflect such a dazzling strong light.

The only possible explanation is that it was an artificially placed reflective object.

Such as cameras on forest fire prevention equipment, solar panels, etc.

But the locations of these two items are fixed and unchanging.

Yet the reflection in front soon disappeared after Gu Ji jumped from the car; it was evident the counterpart knew they might have been exposed and immediately changed position.

"Is it a sniper or an observer’s telescope..."

Gu Ji retracted his phone, his eyebrows twisted like a dragon or snake, letting out a breath.

Initially, he did not believe attacks could happen domestically, but after so many rounds of glory trials, making him increasingly significant in international investigation lists, spies once approached him intentionally before; now it’s hard to ensure they wouldn’t chase him madly to Xia Kingdom.

But simultaneously, another possibility exists.

It could be a Special Service Bureau test.

During Jinbang’s training, the devil instructor Qiu Junrong’s initial test remains vivid, perhaps this Special Service Bureau commander is also an "oddball" playing unconventionally.

So, he directly pressed the Special Service office number he’d dialed before.

Connected, whilst observing the forest area, Gu Ji spoke: "This is Gu Ji. I’m near Wu Province’s Special Service Bureau, but on my way by taxi to the unit, I saw human reflective traces at the mountainside, likely espionage; I suggest immediate inspection!"

This move is using power against power.

If it’s true, conveniently leverage Special Service Bureau’s hand to intimidate those intending harm![

But if this is false, a trap laid by Special Service Bureau, then once exposed, they must admit honestly.

"Are you sure, Comrade Gu Ji?"

"I’m very sure!"

"Okay then, hand the phone to me."

While Gu Ji expressed firmly, suddenly another middle-aged man’s voice came from the receiver, then it seemed the phone was handed to him, "I’m Tang Shaoming, Captain of Special Service Bureau’s First Guard Team, you’ve got sharp observation, directly come in!"

"Damn! It’s actually this bastard’s setup!"

Of course, this was just Gu Ji cursing inwardly, externally, he calmly replied, "Thank you, Captain Tang, for the compliment, I’ll report immediately!"

After hanging up.

He couldn’t resist spitting a bit, "Frightening one another" really can scare people to death, and who knows if the driver might have nightmares going back!

Exiting the forest, Gu Ji jogged to the entrance of Wu Province’s Special Service Bureau.

This place’s construction is nearly similar to the Armed Police Force, completely surrounded by anti-climb outward-slanted iron fences, with within two massive practice fields, two residential buildings, an office building, and weaponry storage.

Even slogans on the walls: "Be vigilant in peaceful times, keep alarms ringing," "Only when the nation is strong can enemies be resisted, being ever-ready allows no fear," carry a strong military style.

On the training field, Special Service police were exercising.

Unlike Dragon and Tiger Assault Team training, they also have special vehicular training, including special driving, encountering enemies on the road, etc.

Gu Ji crossed the training field, just entering the office building.

Soon seeing a young man in police uniform with a flat-top haircut standing in the first-floor lobby, "You must be Gu Ji, follow me, Captain Tang is waiting in the office!"

Judging by the voice, seemingly the young man who initially called him.

Following him all the way to a second-floor office.

Upon pushing the door, inside was a middle-aged officer in police administrative attire, back turned brewing tea.

Hearing movement, he turned around, with a capable, short cut, dark as coal-faced. Surprisingly even darker than Li Ruilin’s complexion, squinting tiger eyes, with bushy brows, calloused, rough tea-holding large hands, evidently an experienced veteran Special Service, exuding fierce energy all over!

"Captain Tang, Gu Ji reporting."

"Have a seat."

Tang Shaoming put the tea on the coffee table, then turned to sit at the desk, while Gu Ji obediently took the side couch as instructed.

"Initially, I didn’t agree with the person Li recommended, yet National Security directly named you; I placed a small test on your inevitable path to assess your observation skill, unexpectedly your awareness is notable, identifying anomaly at 250 meters, taking a reconnaissance trooper route, right? Did Li Ruilin personally guide you?"

"Captain Tang, why say so?"

Sure enough, experience comes with age; Gu Ji hadn’t expected Tang Shaoming’s sharp eyes, instantly seeing his background.

Unexpectedly, Tang Shaoming disdainfully "snorted".

"Ha! With Li Ruilin’s underlings flocking into CQB, what do they know about security reconnaissance? 250 meters is just the coincidental police boundary; per reconnaissance trooper’s 50-meter observation zone, 250 meters marks the limit."

"You’re indeed right, I underwent training before, knowing a military instructor."

"That old guy Qiu Junrong, right?"

Originally Gu Ji intended to find an excuse; unexpectedly, Tang Shaoming instantly revealed it.

This guy might have secretly investigated me?

Or possibly...

They three were old acquaintances all along?

Gu Ji discreetly assessed Tang Shaoming, noticing whenever mentioning Li Ruilin, though his expressions were always disdainful, his eyes never showed genuine contempt but indeed some reluctant pride, like reminiscing past glory.

If indeed so, that makes things much easier.

"Ah right, it’s Instructor Qiu."

"I knew it, Li Ruilin knows crap, let’s discuss, what preparations did you make while undertaking security missions in Brazil."
