Chapter 823: Chapter 367: Nationwide Escape
"Sato, was that shout just now from you? Is it handled? Answer me, Sato!"
Right at this moment, two shouts from a teammate suddenly came from the hidden Bluetooth earpiece by the corpse’s ear.
Jian Na’s eyes went cold in an instant. Her right hand quickly felt around her waist, drew a black tactical straight knife, spun around fast, ran to the suite door, and hid behind it.
The next second, footsteps on the carpet outside the door came closer from far away.
Another short Japanese security officer walked in, and when he saw his teammate’s corpse lying in the living room, his face changed dramatically on the spot.
Just as his attention was completely drawn to the corpse, Jian Na suddenly struck, a clean, decisive straight thrust aimed at the short guard’s neck. From the speed of that strike, she was even more proficient than specially trained military or police.
"Pshh!"
"Ah!"
The blade hit with one stroke. It only went in about half an inch, but it was enough to cause him intense pain.
The short guard reacted immediately, reaching out to grab, trying to control the blade.
But Jian Na took the chance to jerk the knife back.
In that instant of pulling the blade, blood sprayed straight out.
She stepped sideways, her left leg driving straight into the short guard’s centerline, closing the distance. The blade thrust again, stabbing into his throat in a flash, all the way to the hilt. She twisted hard—fast and vicious.
"Ghhk..."
Blood streamed from the short guard’s body.
He didn’t even manage a scream, just stared wide-eyed and died in her hands.
Jian Na gave a tug, not letting the body crash to the floor and make noise. She didn’t pull the knife out either. Instead, she quickly patted him down, turning up a new tactical knife, a stun baton, IDs, and a phone.
Relying on her memory, she quickly dialed a number.
"Come pick me up at the hotel immediately. The Japanese intelligence agency has already made a move on me!"
As she spoke, she wiped the blood splattered on her forearm off onto the corpse’s shirt, then went to the door, sliced an angle along the doorframe, and checked the hallway.
Seeing no one in the corridor, she seized the moment, dashed to the fire stairs, and ran all the way down to the first floor.
Entering the lobby, Jian Na’s first glance caught a group of United States security personnel rushing in through the revolving door. As soon as they came in, they grabbed a hotel waiter, held up a phone, seemingly asking something.
Her instincts told her this was bad.
She snapped around, lowered her head, walked along the wall to the hotel staff area, then slipped out through the fire exit on the side of the building.
"I’m out. Wait for me at the alley on the west side of the hotel."
The streets around the hotel were already being controlled by anti-explosive police, and a large number of security convoys were continuously driving toward the hotel. It looked like the international anti-terror summit had just ended.
While giving directions over the phone, Jian Na quickly crossed the lawn and street. After showing the military police her Japanese security special service ID, she finally got through the cordon, then jogged all the way to the agreed alley.
In no time, a black SUV slowly pulled up by the curb.
Hearing the word "arrived" from the phone, Jian Na decisively tossed the phone away, ran over, and got into the front passenger seat. "Mr. Wang, go!"
That’s right, the contact she’d called for extraction was Wa Xueming.
Wa Xueming made a decisive U-turn by the roadside, floored the gas, and sped away.
"Sorry, security around the hotel is too tight. Without work IDs, it’s almost impossible for me to get close unnoticed."
"That doesn’t matter, but we need to get out of Romania as fast as possible. I killed two Japanese special service agents. In less than fifteen minutes, my identity will be exposed across all of Romania."
"What?"
Wa Xueming’s pupils shrank when he heard that.
He’d thought Jian Na called him for help because she was being chased. He hadn’t expected her to have already taken out two specially trained operatives by herself.
Wa Xueming subconsciously glanced sideways, and sure enough, he spotted a few glaring red drops at the collar of Jian Na’s shirt.
And she carried a faint smell of blood on her.
He’d smelled this scent far too many times in Northern Myanmar; he couldn’t possibly be mistaken.
"There’s something else important. When I was escaping the hotel, I found United States special agents questioning the hotel waiters about me. Do you have a gun?"
"Yeah."
Still a bit suspicious, Wa Xueming drew a Glock 17 from his waist and handed it over.
Jian Na took the gun, smoothly pressed the magazine catch, racked the slide, inspected the weapon, then reinserted the mag, pre-aimed twice to get a feel for it, and finally tucked it at her waist.
The whole sequence was done in one fluid motion, as practiced as an old-school detective.
Especially those two aiming motions—textbook CARs shooting stance.
No, that’s not right. Last time I was on assignment in Japan, this Jian Na still looked like a delicate, soft-spoken girl.
How did she change this much in just a few months?
Wa Xueming’s head was full of question marks. In the end, he couldn’t hold it in anymore. "Jian Na, I know I shouldn’t be asking this, but I’m really curious—how did you train your shooting?"
Of course Jian Na knew what he was really asking. Since it wasn’t some big secret, she simply answered directly.
"With a secret training device the 7472 Unit gave me..."
After listening to her explanation, Wa Xueming was completely stunned.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
No. Wait!
He suddenly realized—could the skills he now possessed also have been drilled into him by the 7472 Unit using this BCI Virtual Reality Trainer?
At first, Wa Xueming had always thought that the tactical knowledge he had came from what he learned back in the army.
