Chapter 834: Chapter 372: Trending Across the Entire Internet
The Romanian Intelligence Agency moved extremely fast.
It took them only seven or eight minutes to arrive at the scene and take over from the federal police in sealing off this blood-soaked alley.
The outcome was simple: Gu Ji and his team, along with Vidi’s Indian intelligence officers, were all taken away by the authorities. After all, this was their own turf, and with something like this happening under the banner of an "International Anti-Terrorism Conference," it had to be handled with the utmost seriousness.
Fortunately, Shi Zhengmin had contacted the embassy in advance, and Gu Ji had already dumped that Beretta M92F on that Japanese man. In the end, he was out of the interrogation room in less than half an hour.
The only real pity was that the Foam Grenade was also left behind at the Romanian Intelligence Agency.
Although back in Brazil, the game had already stopped giving any "recovery" prompts for it.
But Gu Ji had to admit that the thing Abe Shigehide had developed was indeed very useful, especially in confined urban combat environments. A single Foam Grenade was enough to reshape the terrain.
It could serve as cover to save your life, or block off the enemy’s retreat.
Shi Zhengmin stood by the roadside and flagged down a taxi.
"There are no more flights back home today. Let’s find a hotel, stay one night, and leave tomorrow."
"Mr. Shi, we’re just giving up like this?"
Hearing the order to return home, Chen Zhiyu seemed a bit unwilling.
Two hours ago, she had been firmly promising in front of Mr. Jianchang. Two hours later, not only had they lost the target, they hadn’t obtained a single valuable lead.
"7472 was better prepared than we were. Besides, we have no law enforcement authority in Romania, and now the Intelligence Bureau has its eyes on us. Staying here will only waste time."
"Alright..."
Chen Zhiyu replied in disappointment, but her gaze remained fixed on the photo on her phone screen—Herman’s mercenary riding a motorcycle as he pulled back.
Gu Ji stayed silent beside her.
The girl really had something; this angle of attack was indeed a good one.
Starting from the motorcycle’s plate, they could definitely dig out traces of the Herman family, and from there track down Jian Na and Wa Xueming.
"Mr. Senyama, Mr. Noda asked me to remind you to prepare your written self-criticism as soon as possible. You’ll be meeting the Prime Minister tomorrow morning."
"I know."
In a room at the Fatru Hotel, Moriyama Harumi responded coldly. Once her subordinate left the room, she could no longer suppress the fury inside. Her whole body trembled, and she almost hysterically ground the words out from between her teeth: "Damn it!!"
It was hard to blame her for losing composure like this.
Moriyama Harumi had practically handed over all the intelligence she had on the 7472 unit to Abe Shigehide, and had even sent out her own trusted subordinates. She had never imagined they would all die on the spot without even getting a whiff of Jian Na.
What made her even more furious was this:
Mr. Noda from the Intelligence Investigation Office had pinned every mistake in this operation plan squarely on her.
The briefing tomorrow morning would no doubt enrage the Prime Minister.
By then, her position as section chief would probably be finished, and all her years of hard work would be wiped out completely.
"Abe Shigehide, sooner or later, I’ll make you pay every last price!!"
...
Since they were only resting for one night, Shi Zhengmin casually picked a hotel downtown, booking two rooms: one executive, one superior king.
Correct.
Gu Ji shared a room with him, while Chen Zhiyu had a room to herself.
Once they entered the room, Shi Zhengmin sat down at the desk in the living room, opened his laptop, and started writing a summary report on the tracking operation. Gu Ji stayed in the bedroom to send a quick "I’m safe" message to Gao Bo and the guys.
They had only chatted a bit, and when he was about to roll over, he suddenly felt a faint itching pain along his left ribs.
He turned his head and realized it was from the slash he’d taken when he’d run into the Asian man in the alley, pressed against the wall.
Because the wound wasn’t deep, and because he’d been worried about the safety of Chen Zhiyu and Shi Zhengmin, he hadn’t paid it any attention on the way here. Only now, as his body relaxed, did he notice it.
Gu Ji took off his clothes, sat at the edge of the bed, and lowered his head to dig through the first-aid kit.
Just then, as he had just picked up a roll of gauze—
His ears twitched slightly; he vaguely heard someone approaching from behind. He turned his head and a delicate, beautiful face appeared right in front of him, startling him into leaping up and stepping back. "What are you doing in my room?!"
"I’m not a ghost. Do you really need to react that dramatically?"
The woman was none other than Chen Zhiyu.
But the way she was positioned right now was particularly prone to misunderstanding: like a cat, she was on her knees and elbows on Gu Ji’s bed, her waist cinched in by her black dress pants, her hips and waist forming a perfectly tempting curve.
"I came to hand some files over to Mr. Shi. I saw your door was open, so I figured I’d say hi. Then I saw you with your back to me, bare-chested, head down, and your right arm just...moving..."
"Stop, stop! Enough. The way you’re putting it is filthy, and Mr. Shi’s still outside!"
Gu Ji quickly cut her off. Seeing the sly grin on her face, he knew she’d tiptoed in on purpose to scare him.
"He went to the bathroom to make a call."
Chen Zhiyu was still amused when she suddenly noticed the bottle of iodine disinfectant in his hand, then caught sight of the smear of red along his side. Her smile instantly froze. "You’re hurt?"
"It’s nothing. I just took a little cut when I was fighting that Asian guy."
"Is it serious? How about I take you to the hospital!"
Chen Zhiyu crawled off the bed straight toward him, clearly wanting to check his wound.
