Chapter 848 -379: Infinite 9 Minutes and 15 Seconds_2
“Oh my god! What is he doing!”
“Go call the conductor, there’s a lunatic here!”
“Ah Ming! What the hell are you doing!”
The commotion Gu Ji was making was just too big.
Almost all the passengers in the two cars before and after had been drawn over, and of course that Persian beauty was among them.
Gu Ji ignored her questioning and kept smashing away like a madman.
Finally, the man in the white headscarf couldn’t endure anymore. He cracked the door open, the full beard on his face splitting to reveal a ferocious snarl.
“Damn it! You freak! You want to—”
“Clang!”
Before he could finish, Gu Ji shoved the metal bathroom door wide open and barged in, his gaze sweeping quickly over the ceiling, the drain pipes, every blind corner where something could be hidden, but he found nothing.
In the end, he could only grab at the white-headscarf man’s clothes, trying to check if he had explosives hidden underneath.
“You lunatic! I’ll kill you!!”
The man in the white headscarf cursed furiously, reaching out to push Gu Ji away.
But instead he was hooked from under the armpit at his right shoulder, his left wrist folded and seized, then shoved hard forward. In an instant he was slammed onto the floor.
Police close-quarters restraint technique: cross-hand arm lock.
“Ah—!”
“Hey! What are you doing! No fighting on the train!”
The man in the white headscarf had just cried out in pain.
A conductor was already running over, pointing at the two of them and shouting. It was the same red-nosed uncle from the previous round: Kafu.
“Guard! Guard! Get over here, there’s a fight in the car!”
Kafu notified the train police as he squeezed through the crowd, ready to separate the two temporarily.
Gu Ji did not choose to let go immediately. “Mr. Conductor, this man’s behavior is extremely suspicious. He’s been hiding in the bathroom and refusing to come out. I suspect he’s very likely planning to use a bomb to attack the train!”
“What, a bomb?”
“Allah! Is that true…”
As soon as he said it, a wave of uproar and exclamations surged through the crowd.
But many people immediately voiced doubts.
“This guy must be crazy. Who’d try to blow up a train?”
“I think he’s the one acting the most suspicious. Conductor, I suggest you arrest him immediately and hand him over to the police!”
“Ah Ming! What nonsense are you talking!”
The Persian beauty stared at Gu Ji in disbelief, then hurriedly pleaded to Kafu: “Mr. Conductor, he’s my friend. I don’t know why he’s suddenly like this, but please believe me, he’s not a bad person!”
“Enough! Causing trouble on the train and spreading terror rumors already constitutes a serious violation of the law. I absolutely won’t let him off!”
Kafu, that old fellow, was just like in the previous round, stubborn as ever. He seemed to have already decided that Gu Ji was the criminal.
Seeing him about to lunge over.
In his urgency, Gu Ji suddenly ripped open the white-headscarf man’s robe. With several ripping sounds, quite a few items tumbled out.
Everyone looked down.
“Why does he have so many wallets and phones?”
“Hey? This wallet looks exactly like mine!”
“Damn! My phone is gone!”
More and more passengers in the crowd started realizing that their own belongings were actually on the white-headscarf man, especially the wallet of that Iranian woman from earlier—it was right there among them.
So this guy was a thief!
“Damn! Scum like that should go straight to hell!”
“We should chop off his fingers!”
“Yeah! Cut his fingers!”
“Ah! Please, I beg you, let me go, I was forced…”
At the words “cut off his hand,” the man in the white headscarf completely lost his composure, dropping to his knees and kowtowing to the crowd in desperation.
Under Iran’s legal code, the punishment for theft is extremely harsh.
Even for a first offense, the thief faces amputation of the four fingers of his right hand.
International human rights organizations have protested, but nothing has changed. Similar punishments are even found in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Somalia.
In an instant, the situation flipped.
Gu Ji, who had just been scolded by everyone, was suddenly the heroic thief-catcher.
“This young man is really something!”
“Yeah, if he hadn’t trapped the thief in the bathroom, we might never have gotten our stuff back!”
The Persian beauty listened to everyone’s praise, awkwardly smoothing a strand of hair, her face apologetic. “I’m sorry, Ah Ming, I misunderstood you.”
Of course, the most baffled of all was Gu Ji.
He’d thought the guy was in the bathroom secretly strapping bombs to himself; turned out he was stashing stolen goods.
No wonder the man had been so hostile toward him earlier.
He’d mistaken Gu Ji for having caught him in the act of stealing.
A false alarm.
The man in the white headscarf was quickly taken away by the arriving train police, but Kafu still refused to drop his guard against Gu Ji.
After all, that line about “bombing the train” wasn’t something you could just say lightly.
But right now, Gu Ji had no energy to worry about that.
Once the train pulled into the station, the man in the white headscarf was escorted off by the police, to be taken to the local precinct.
Gu Ji stood at the car’s exit, glancing forward and back.
Only after confirming that nothing seemed suspicious did he return to his seat at the rear of the car, ready to wait for the real bomber to appear.
“Hey! Ah Ming, are you still mad at me? I was only thinking of you then, afraid you’d end up back inside again over some trivial nonsense.”
Unexpectedly, this round’s Persian beauty was like a stubborn plaster stuck to him.
Wherever Gu Ji went.
She appeared.
But from that sentence, Gu Ji picked up on one thing: “Ah Ming” had been in prison for something before.
“Ah Ming! Say something! You—”
Seeing that Gu Ji was completely ignoring her, the Persian beauty waved her hand back and forth in front of his eyes, but still got no reaction.
She couldn’t help following his line of sight.
In the connector between cars stood a black-haired Persian man, triangular face, dressed in a dark blue suit. He was on the skinny side but radiated a very sharp, capable air. His right hand stayed poised at his waist, ensuring he could draw a weapon at the fastest possible speed in case something happened.
That’s right.
This black-haired Persian man had absolutely received special training!
Could he be the real bomber?
Yet Gu Ji felt that wasn’t quite right.
The aura this man projected wasn’t that of a desperate thug committing robbery for money. It was much more like regular armed forces—military or police, the disciplined types.
Most importantly.
The man’s gaze never left the area centered on Gu Ji.
In other words.
He was here specifically for me!
Gu Ji’s eyelid twitched. He couldn’t figure out how he’d offended the guy. Aside from that pickpocket he’d just caught, he hadn’t provoked anyone on the train.
“Ah Ming, do you know that man?”
Even the Persian beauty had noticed that the guy was staring at them.
“Don’t—”
Gu Ji was halfway through his sentence when he suddenly sensed something wrong. He quickly raised his wrist to check the countdown.
In that instant, a blinding flash of white erupted from the tail of the train.
“Woooo—! Krrrk-krrrk…”
“Hahhh…”
With a shrill roar in his ears, Gu Ji’s eyes flew open. His hands were clamped around his own throat as he gulped down air like he couldn’t breathe.
“Ah Ming, what’s wrong?”
That familiar yet strange Persian voice sounded again.
Gu Ji slowly raised his head.
A face full of exotic Persian charm came into view.
Gu Ji’s heart gave a heavy thud, and his gaze instinctively shifted to the upper-right corner of his field of vision.
Blood-red death countdown:
37 minutes 43 seconds!
He had rolled back on death once again.
Two rounds into the gauntlet, Gu Ji still hadn’t figured out the exact objective of the very first mission. He’d made virtually no progress, just muddled through and wasted two “lives.”
Could it be that for the next half hour or so,
he was going to be trapped in this same 9-minute-15-second loop?
