Chapter 896 - 403: Ghosts
Chapter 896: Chapter 403: Ghosts
The blue-green grasshoppers were rubbing their wings among the wild grass on the hillside.
In the next second.
The sole of a large combat boot stomped down, scaring the grasshoppers away with a rustling sound.
Gu Ji and Gong Qingyong each led a team.
The group resembled a procession of night phantoms, stealthily advancing towards the village along the slope.
Just as the team reached halfway.
Suddenly, a burst of static came through the tactical headset:
"Zzzz... Be careful!"
Gu Ji immediately raised his left fist, halted his steps, and quickly grabbed Liu Weijun’s shoulder.
The latter passed the gesture on to Gao Bo.
The entire team simultaneously crouched down, curling into a ball and hiding among the wild grass and shrubs.
"Lookout, what’s happening?"
"Zzzz... The sentry on the second floor of the village is looking your way, don’t move yet!"
"Received, check your comms, there’s a lot of static."
"Zzzz... I hear the same from you, it might be that you’re in the mountainous area where radio signal interference is strong!"
Gu Ji and Zhao Hua exchanged whispers back and forth.
From the end of the team, Wu Kang couldn’t help but frown and remind them, "What should we do? If we continue downward and lose signal, it means completely losing connection with the lookout point!"
It’s understood.
In modern warfare, teamwork coordination is critical.
Once the communication signals of a tactical team are disrupted, seeking assistance from team members and support units becomes impossible.
No matter how skilled special police or special forces are, encountering such situations is extremely dangerous.
This was also why Gong Qingyong had insistently required them to wear earpieces previously.
"Zhao Hua, try to find a frequency with stronger signal resistance."
"Yes!"
Gu Ji naturally understood the importance of communication.
But the current opportunity for stealth attack should not be missed.
Otherwise, if Shalam’s gang loses contact with the shepherd for too long, they’ll surely become alert, losing the advantage.
"This is Lookout, you can move now!"
Upon hearing the prompt, Gu Ji swung his vertically grounded left arm forward swiftly.
This was to signal teammates to continue advancing.
Under the visual command of Zhao Hua and Zhou Yang at the lookout point, Gu Ji and Gong Qingyong led their respective teams, stopping and advancing, quickly reaching the village entrance.
The village entrance was blocked by two concrete walls and a pair of large iron gates.
Before the team even approached.
The scout dog seemed to sense something ahead, biting Gao Bo’s pant leg, halting him.
Clearly, there was something behind the gate.
Perhaps noticing the whole team stopped moving, Zhou Yang zoomed in for a careful observation, couldn’t help but shout, "Wait! Don’t move!"
"Directly ahead, there’s an armed thug on each side behind the gate!"
Zhao Hua finally spotted the two figures lurking in the darkness.
Due to the mountain’s dim night light, everything relied on moonlight and starlight reflection, thankfully they had night vision equipment to barely make out figures.
Gu Ji first raised his index finger to his lips, signaling for complete silence.
Then, he waved his arm to catch Gong Qingyong’s attention from four to five meters away, switching to a side horizontal raise, four fingers clenched in a fist, thumb pointing downward.
The counterpart immediately understood:
There are thugs behind the gate.
Next, Gu Ji gestured at the sides of the iron gate, then at the scout dog’s head, mimicking opening the gate, finally holding a hand-blade horizontally across his throat, moving horizontally back and forth.
Seeing this, Gong Qingyong returned an "OK" hand sign.
Soon, both teams cautiously approached the iron gate edges, standing in a line, backs pressed against the concrete walls.
Once everyone was ready.
Gu Ji commanded the scout dog to run to the large iron gate, scratching at the gate slit with its paw: "Woof! Woof!"
"What’s that sound?"
"Guess it’s Goodman’s dog, go check it out."
Behind the gate, two armed thugs chatted idly as they walked towards the iron gate.
Standing at the spearheading position, Gao Bo had already held his breath.
Left leg stepped forward with power stored, right hand drew out a military dagger from his waist, hiding it behind.
Footsteps approaching, tension mounting.
"Creak!"
The next second, the iron gate opened, a shadow emerged from within.
Just as he was momentarily distracted by the scout dog at his feet, Gao Bo and Liu Weijun rushed forward without hesitation, the blade flashed, stabbing fiercely into the opponent’s neck.
"Ugh..."
The shadow intended to scream, but Liu Weijun had already grabbed his mouth and nose tightly, dragging his head to the wall base, silencing him completely.
The instinct to survive drove the thug into a desperate struggle.
Yet he couldn’t break free from the grip of the two elite police, weakly scrabbling at the ground, ultimately collapsing limply in Gao Bo’s embrace.
Seems like he heard some noise.
The other armed thug behind the gate couldn’t help but shout, "Kapas, what’s happening? Kapas?"
"Woof Woof! Woof!"
He shouted twice, receiving no response, only to hear the dog barking.
"What are you up to!"
Just as the thug prepared to curse, two hands suddenly reached through the gate slit, grabbed his head, and a knife stabbed into his gut, pulling him out!
It was the spearhead police of the second team and Gong Qingyong who acted.
"Slash! Slash!"
Gong Qingyong stabbed twice in succession, blood instantly staining the thug’s gray robe, dripping onto the ground.
"Both armed thugs eliminated!"
"Understood."
Receiving signals from Gong Qingyong and Gao Bo, Gu Ji patted Liu Weijun and glanced back at Zhuang Feng and Wu Kang, pointing to the top of their helmets.
In the next second, everyone simultaneously and seamlessly flipped down their AN/PVS-15 dual-tube night vision goggles.
View instantly became fluorescent green.
