Chapter 898 - 404: Basement
Chapter 898: Chapter 404: Basement
Considering whether there might be hostages behind the door when breaking it open, explosives that are too powerful could cause the door fragments to fly off and injure the hostages, so SWAT and tactical teams these days are generally equipped with C2 explosives.
It is a type of plastic explosive of the C series.
Compared to C4, C2 is softer and less powerful, but it’s enough to blow open a regular iron door.
Gao Bo pulled the fuse.
With a three-second countdown, the C2 on the door exploded on cue, sparks shot outward, and the entire door collapsed inward.
"Da da da..."
As soon as the explosion ended, extremists inside the courtyard began shooting wildly.
Bullets hit the half-collapsed iron door, sounding like beans being stir-fried in an iron pan, crackling and popping.
In just a moment, Gu Ji and Gong Qingyong simultaneously threw the grenades from their chest tactical rigs into the courtyard.
"Boom! Boom!"
The sound of explosions rang out one after another, and the gunfire immediately ceased.
Feeling a shove from behind, Gao Bo led the charge, "Bang," stepping on the iron door and rushing into the courtyard.
The air was filled with the pungent smell of gunpowder, and at a glance, he saw extremists on the ground, wounded by defensive grenade shrapnel, lying on the ground, shrieking miserably.
"Left side, spotted!"
"Woof! Woof woof!"
Gao Bo’s muzzle moved even quicker than the shout, a trigger pulled, directly taking down one extremist who was resisting with a gun.
The dog was excitedly pouncing on another thug, biting into his gun-holding right arm.
"Ah—!"
"Continue the assault! Quickly!"
Amid the screams, Liu Weijun and Gu Ji quickly followed up.
The monk was responsible for dealing with the remaining enemies on the left, while Gu Ji ensured every one was finished off, "Confirm all neutralized!"
Seeing this scene as he rushed in, Gong Qingyong couldn’t help but twitch an eyelid.
This kid’s double-tap is way too fast.
Almost like breathing, it had become an instinct.
One must know, in this country, explaining such behavior is very troublesome.
But against bloodthirsty and ruthless desperados like Shalam, it had to be done this way, warnings made no difference at all.
Two teams alternated in coordination to approach the house door.
Gu Ji pointed his gun at the flickering yellow light inside a broken second-floor window, "Zhuang Feng, Wu Kang, locate the power box!"
"Yes, follow me!"
Wu Kang purposely reached back to pat Zhuang Feng’s side waist, then the two of them moved along the wall base, circling to the right side of the house.
Gong Qingyong’s team looked at the wooden door of the house with a glance.
"Gun!"
A companion at the number two position quickly drew a short-barreled XM26 shotgun from the fixed pocket on the side of his back breach-kit bag.
The original inspiration was from the short-barreled Remington 870, later developed by the U.S. military into a tactical attachment for the M16 assault rifle and M4 carbine series.
The second team scouts were using an independent version.
The biggest advantage of this gun is its compactness and portability, weighing only 3.8 kilograms.
"Mr. Gu, we’ve found the power box."
"Good, listen for my command..."
After hearing Zhuang Feng’s report, Gu Ji began the countdown.
The moment he shouted the final number, the house lights instantly went out, plunging everything into darkness.
"Bang! Bang!"
The scout fired two shots in succession, hitting the door lock and bottom hinge, then kicked it open.
"Enter!"
The second-position SWAT officer shouted softly, immediately bypassing the scout to rush inside.
"Clear!"
Hearing the signal, Gu Ji and the others immediately followed suit.
The living room on the first floor was very large, filled with strong acrid smoke, the dog kept shaking his head, licking his nose with his tongue, seeming very uncomfortable.
Gu Ji took just one breath and felt a tingling at the back of his head, a sensation of dizzy euphoria.
"Something’s wrong with this smoke!"
Liu Weijun noticed something was off too.
Sure enough, as they ventured further in, they found cigarette butts and a brownish powder scattered all over the messy floor, likely something resembling drugs.
"Control your breathing rate, check the left side, quickly!"
Gu Ji knew that this stuff could damage the nervous system, but the lingering smoke in the living room was mostly second-hand, at a low concentration.
"In position."
Gao Bo and the scout from the second team moved in unison towards the end of the living room.
The latter aimed his gun straight ahead, while Gao Bo’s muzzle moved in sync with his upper body, tracking left until the left side stairs came into view through his night vision goggles, "Spotted! Left side!!"
Sound and flash together.
Gao Bo persistently squeezed the trigger for controlled shots, while the scout quickly hugged the wall and crouched, muzzle elevated towards the stairs.
Fire flashed continuously.
Eventually, the armed thug’s body tumbled down from the staircase, blood staining the white floor tiles, spreading to the soles of combat boots.
"Attack! Left side! Quickly!"
Gong Qingyong shouted, urging the scout forward.
Gu Ji went to the stairway, his gun aimed upward, but a massive boost from his visual imprint made him immediately spot an issue with the living room’s white wall beside the stairs.
He quickly turned on his tactical flashlight.
Under the bright light, he indeed found a rectangular black gap in the background wall.
"It’s a hidden door!"
Gao Bo exclaimed.
"Second team, we’ve discovered a hidden door, it might be where the hostages are held!"
"Copy, stay safe!"
During Gong Qingyong’s reply, Gu Ji and the others had already reached the door.
"Mr. Gu, Wu Kang and I are entering the living room now!"
"We’re at the innermost part."
Upon hearing the report from the tactical headset, Gu Ji, watching the rear, looked up to see Zhuang Feng and Wu Kang returning.
"What’s the situation?"
"We found a hidden door, it might lead to the basement."
Gu Ji quickly explained in a couple of sentences.
Gao Bo pressed against the wall, gently nudging the door edge, surprisingly finding it moved easily, "Not locked?"
