Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 116: Xiaosanzi
Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Xiaosanzi
"That little rascal."
After watching Su Han and his three companions leave the imperial palace, Emperor Jing’s figure emerged from behind a tree.
He watched Su Han’s departing back and couldn’t help but shake his head in resignation.
"Xiaozzi, about the matter of the throne..."
Behind him, no sound came.
Emperor Jing turned around to see Eunuch An lying on the ground, his body twitching constantly, with white foam spilling from his mouth.
Frowning in disgust, Emperor Jing gave him a kick.
"Can’t you try a new trick? If you play dead again, We’ll really grant you a cup of poisoned wine next time."
"Your Majesty... what did you just say? This old servant didn’t hear clearly."
Emperor Jing rolled his eyes. "Get back and change your clothes. Then... come with Us to the Imperial Mausoleum."
"Yes, Your Majesty~"
Cackling like an old mother hen, Eunuch An scurried off in a flash.
’This bunch of characters...’
Emperor Jing shook his head with an amused smile. Gazing at the distant Jinluan Palace, his eyes grew slightly unfocused.
’Back then... why did We have to oversleep for that extra hour?’
’We clearly wanted to get up earlier, We really did... So how did We end up oversleeping for an hour?’
In the Internal Affairs Bureau, after arranging the day’s work, the director leaned back in his chair, lost in thought.
He recalled an incident eighteen years ago, back when he was just a Little Eunuch... how he almost lost his head for misplacing a stick of calming incense.
’Truly... this deep, vast palace is filled with danger at every turn. To have made it this far, how much of it was just pure luck!’
...
"Xiaosanzi! This Crown Prince and Sister are here to see you!"
At the Separate Garden, Su Han’s voice rang out the moment he stepped through the gate.
"Your Highness, the Third Prince was burned by some scoundrel who set a fire. The Imperial Physician just applied some medicine, and he’s only just started resting..."
As soon as Su Han’s voice faded, a young maidservant came scurrying over. She looked at Su Han and spoke with trepidation.
Su Han: "...Xiaosanzi... what happened to him?"
The young maidservant glanced cautiously at Su Han but couldn’t detect any unusual expression on his face.
So, her expression shifted to one of righteous indignation.
"We don’t know which scoundrel it was, but they committed arson right here in the Royal Villa! The Third Prince was playing chess with Miss Luo under a tree at the time."
"The falling flames directly ignited His Highness the Third Prince’s clothes..."
The young maidservant recounted her master’s tragic experience, her face still filled with resentment.
"The butler has already taken people to investigate. Once we catch that little arsonist, we must have him sent to the palace to become a eunuch! Only then will..."
Seeing the fiercely vicious expression on the young maidservant’s face, Su Han subconsciously felt a chill run down his groin.
"Um... Lan, ah. It was just accidentally burning a tree. There’s no need to be so ruthless, is there?"
Lan looked at Su Han, confused. "Ruthless? Isn’t attempting to murder a member of the Royal Family a crime worthy of exterminating nine generations of their clan?"
Su Han: "..."
’Sending this Crown Prince to the palace to be made a eunuch is one thing, but you f*cking want to exterminate my nine generations?’
’Aren’t my ancestors pitiful enough? There’s only one Imperial Mausoleum, yet so many people have their eyes on it?’
"Ahem~ Lan, go and inform your head butler that there’s no need to investigate this matter."
Lan looked at Su Han, puzzled. "Why?"
Su Han rolled his eyes. "Just go when I tell you to. Stop asking so many questions!"
The moment Su Han put on a stern face, Lan cowered, lowered her head, and mumbled a sullen, "Oh."
Su Han waved his hand, dismissing her. Then, under the strange gazes of Su Xiao’Er and his Sister, he walked deeper into the villa.
After a few steps, his Sister sidled up to Su Han, a peculiar expression on her face.
"This fire... it wasn’t you again, was it?"
Su Han: "..."
’What are you talking about?’
’How can you baselessly accuse an innocent person again?’
’And what do you mean, "again"?’
’Have I set anyone else on fire before?’
’Besides, can learning a skill be called arson?’
’That’s called lighting up the Skill Tree! Get it?’
Grumbling internally, Su Han gave a sullen nod. "Probably... possibly... maybe... if there isn’t a second tree in the villa that caught fire, then it might have a tiny little bit to do with me."
"Hah!"
His Sister shot him a glare and quickened her pace toward the inner part of the villa.
"Sister..."
"Xiaosanzi is so close to you. You bullied him so much when you were kids, yet he still dotes on you like his very own brother."
"You actually set him on fire! Doesn’t your conscience hurt?"
Su Han: "..."
His Sister held out her hand. "Hand them over!"
Su Han froze instinctively. "What?"
"Healing Elixirs, of course. Don’t tell me you don’t have any."
Su Han pulled two bottles of Healing Elixirs from his Storage Ring and placed them in his Sister’s hand.
’I could obviously give them to Xiaosanzi myself, so why do they have to go through her?’
Looking at the two bottles of Elixirs in her hand, his Sister shook her head. "Not enough."
Su Han: "..."
’Just these two bottles? As long as you didn’t toss Xiaosanzi into a corpse incinerator for a spin, pouring these down his throat would have him up and jumping around in the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea. And that’s not enough?’
Grumbling in his heart, Su Han took out another two bottles.
"Would it kill you to take out a few more?"
Su Han took out another six bottles, making ten in total. His Sister looked them over and put them away with satisfaction.
"This is enough for healing, but getting burned like this has caused considerable damage to Xiaosanzi’s heart and mind. It will leave a shadow on his Divine Soul, and what’s more, it’s delayed his cultivation by a whole day."
"Nourishing Spirit Pills, Soul Nourishing Pills, Qi Nourishing Pills, Returning Essence Pills, Spiritual Essence Pills... bring some of each out."
Su Han: "..."
’You’re... aren’t you just blatantly taking advantage of the fire?’
Rolling his eyes, Su Han handed the Elixirs to his Sister, ten bottles at a time.
His Sister accepted the Elixirs and gave Su Han a surprised look. "You... you really have this many?"
Su Han rolled his eyes, ignoring his extortionist Sister.
His Sister looked at the Elixirs in her hand, then at Su Han’s seemingly dejected back.
After a moment’s hesitation, she caught up to him. "Hey... here, take these back."
Su Han rolled his eyes again. "Oh, come on. I was going to give them to you anyway, I just forgot before."
"I’ve got so much of this stuff my Storage Ring is about to burst."
His Sister gave him a skeptical look. With a wave of his hand, Su Han piled up a small mountain of Elixir bottles in front of him.
With another wave, he put them all away again.
Sister: "..."
’My little brother is a tycoon!’
"Let’s go, let’s go see Xiaosanzi."
With that, Su Han took the lead, heading down the only blue-bricked path.
His Sister snapped out of it and hurried to catch up.
Behind them, Su Yi glanced at the Sister’s Storage Ring where she’d put the Elixirs, then at Su Han up ahead.
Her eyes... held a thoughtful look.
"Xiaosanzi! I heard you got burned, so this Crown Prince has come to see you!"
Pushing open the door, Su Han saw the Third Prince, who had been woken up and was now staring at him with a dumbfounded expression. Su Han immediately went on the offensive. "How could you be so careless? Getting burned just from playing a game of chess?"
Xiaosanzi: "..."
Sister: "..."
’Have you no shame?’
’Have we really no shame at all?’
