“Not enough?” Evelyn’s face was full of shyness, “You really are… a rascal!”

Not a single day went by without them missing it; no matter how busy he was, he’d find a way to work out with her.

Caden Lockwood lowered his gaze, satisfied as he looked at the touch of blush on Evelyn’s cheeks, more delicate than peach blossoms. He brushed a smile across his lips, “I’m only a rascal for you, dear wife.”

Meanwhile, Shannon Dunn sat alone at home, her expression desolate and lonely.

Shannon got up and opened the door to find Lily Thorne standing there, her eyes involuntarily reddening.

Lily glanced at Shannon, saying nothing more, and directly walked in to sit on the sofa.

Shannon’s heart was in her throat as she closed the door and walked over to sit opposite Lily with a heavy expression.

“Aunt,” Shannon’s voice was very light, “I’m sorry, I messed things up.”

Lily furrowed her brows, her gaze landing on Shannon, filled with anger and also pity.

“It’s not entirely your fault,” Lily said coldly. “Caden changed a lot after meeting Evelyn. Even I, his mother, don’t understand him anymore.”

“What exactly did Evelyn give him?” Shannon spoke with disdain, “How could he fall in love with her instead of me!”

Listening to Shannon’s disgruntled complaint, Lily cast her a cold glance, saying, “Evelyn can make Caden fall for her and be devoted to her, which means she has something that attracts Caden.”

Then, Lily added, “Instead of analyzing what truly attracted Caden, you’re here indulging in self-delusion. Is this the blind confidence I’ve been teaching you all along?”

Shannon opened her mouth, wanting to argue, but seeing the icy look in Lily’s eyes, she could only shut up.

“I’ve interacted with Evelyn several times. When Caden talks to me about her, I carefully observe,” Lily paused and continued, “Evelyn is the kind of woman who is sincere, naive, kindhearted, and clearly without guile nor worldly. After these years in The Lockwood Family, enduring many hardships, it’s understandable he would fall in love with Evelyn.”

“But I’ve always presented myself with dignity in front of him! Before Evelyn appeared, I was the only woman he somewhat admired!” Shannon appeared very confused.

She had crafted herself into a perfect goddess, yet in the end, was easily defeated by Evelyn.

It felt as if someone had slapped her hard across the face, making her feel unprecedented humiliation.
