Chapter 652 - 650: Who Is This Person?

Su Qing’s words stunned Su Shengguo and Zheng Erlian into silence.

"Let me guess," Su Qing said with a faint smile. "Someone came to see you, didn’t they? Someone told you things to turn your hatred toward me. Someone wants to use you to cause trouble for me."

Su Shengguo and Zheng Erlian weren’t good at hiding their emotions. The shock in their eyes after hearing Su Qing’s words told her she had guessed correctly.

"Just as I thought. Someone’s trying to use you as a weapon against me," Su Qing said coolly. "Who was it?"

"Y-You’re just trying to twist things!" Zheng Erlian still believed Su Qing was the one responsible for her daughter’s death. She refused to believe her daughter would conspire with human traffickers just to get back at Su Qing. ’My Meizi... she wasn’t that bold.’

"You should be glad Su Mei is already dead," Su Qing added.

"You... Su Qing, what did you just say? You..." Zheng Erlian gasped. She suddenly felt an aura radiating from Su Qing that terrified her. It was like a great mountain pressing down, making it hard to breathe. Fear seized her heart, and in moments, a cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

Su Qing stared coldly at Su Shengguo and his wife. She already knew the truth of the case from what Brother Liu and his men had said. Su Mei had agreed to work with them to harm her. They had colluded with that Master Wen, intending to hurt not only her but her closest family as well. That had crossed her line. If Su Mei hadn’t died back then, Su Qing would have dealt with her in her own way. Even if she didn’t kill her, she would have made her wish she were dead.

"I made myself clear." Su Qing’s voice was still ice-cold, sending a shiver down the couple’s spines.

"You..." Zheng Erlian started to say more, but Su Shengguo clapped a hand over her mouth. "That’s enough! Shut your mouth."

Su Shengguo was terrified. ’If Zheng Erlian says anything else, Su Qing might actually do something to us.’ The thought of the people backing Su Qing made a cold sweat trickle down his spine.

"Erya, I’ll be honest with you. Someone did come to see us. They were the one who told us that Meizi was killed by traffickers because of you," Su Shengguo said, deciding to tell Su Qing everything. He had made up his mind: he would not oppose Su Qing under any circumstances.

"Who?" Su Qing asked.

"It was a woman." Su Shengguo immediately described the young woman’s appearance to Su Qing, adding, "She didn’t seem much older than you—very young. But she didn’t have a Beijing accent."

Su Qing frowned slightly as she listened. ’Based on his description, I don’t know this woman. But she knows all about my relationship with Su Shengguo’s family and even wants to use them as a pawn against me.’

’That can only mean one thing: this person has a grudge against me and wants to take me down. But who is she?’

"Did she say if she’d be back to see you?" Su Qing asked.

"No, she didn’t. She just told us that and left. She said a lot of things to stir up trouble, too. Said we were just common folk and that you have powerful backing now, so we could never win against you, things like that," Su Shengguo said hurriedly, glancing at Su Qing.

Su Qing nodded. She thought for a moment, then said, "I imagine she already knows that you came to Beijing to find me."

"Ah!" Su Shengguo was stunned. "Who... who in the world is she?"

"I don’t know who she is, but she’s definitely someone who wants to get to me. She probably doesn’t have the confidence to do it herself, so she goaded you into causing trouble for me. Her main goal is, if she can’t beat me, she can at least annoy me," Su Qing said, glancing coolly at the couple.

"Erya," Su Shengguo said suddenly. "Are you trying to find that girl who came to see us? Is there anything we can do? Just tell us, and we’ll do it."

Su Qing raised an eyebrow. "You’re willing to help me find her?"

Su Shengguo nodded firmly. "I believe you. You said the people who harmed Meizi are all dead now, and I believe you had a hand in that. Whether you meant to avenge Meizi or not, I’ll remember this favor. As for this person who came to us... her real target was you, but she used our family as a weapon, pushing us to confront you.
