Chapter 663 - 657: Ye Qingqing is Missing

Su Shengguo and Zheng Erlian stared at their two sons, their faces stony. They didn’t dare challenge Su Qing. But they couldn’t very well tell their sons that. If word got out, they’d be in serious trouble.

"What are you two talking about? You’re just kids, worrying about things that don’t concern you. Hurry up and go to bed." Su Shengguo scowled and waved his hand dismissively at Su Lidong and Su Lifeng. "Besides, didn’t you two say you wanted to explore Beijing? Here." He handed over ten yuan. "You two go out and have a good look around tomorrow. Just remember to be back early."

As Su Shengguo spoke, he took out a ten-yuan note and handed it to Su Lidong, adding, "You’ll be taking Lifeng out. You’re the older brother, so look after your little brother, you hear?"

Su Lidong’s eyes lit up the moment he saw the ten yuan. He eagerly snatched it and said with a grin, "Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll definitely take good care of Lifeng."

Su Lidong completely forgot why he had come in the first place. He just cheerfully dragged a reluctant Su Lifeng back to their room.

Su Lifeng was fuming. He was young, and his family treated him like a child, but he understood perfectly well that they had no business provoking their cousin Su Qing again. They had already wronged her enough, and now they were going to help outsiders go against her!

’It’s completely wrong!’

"Brother!" Su Lifeng started to say.

Su Lidong cut in, "Little brother, whatever you want to say is useless. Don’t tell me you’re planning to run to Su Qing and rat out Mom and Dad?"

"But..." Su Lifeng faltered, suddenly at a loss. He didn’t want his family to oppose Su Qing, but he didn’t want them to get hurt, either. His only sister was already gone. Though he was still young, he understood life and death, and he was terrified of losing more of his family.

"Alright, don’t overthink it. I’ll take you out tomorrow." Su Lidong, however, was more concerned with how he could establish himself in Beijing. He was completely captivated by the city’s glamour. After experiencing the bustling life in Beijing, the thought of returning to Lihua Village was unbearable. Moreover, his grandmother had died a violent death in their old house. The very thought sent a shiver down his spine, strengthening his resolve to stay in Beijing.

Su Lifeng sighed. "Okay."

’I guess I’ll have to take it one step at a time,’ he thought, silently praying that his family would come to their senses and not provoke Su Qing again.

The next day, Su Shengguo and Zheng Erlian went to Beijing University again. After saying a few words to Su Qing in a campus pavilion, they left looking utterly dejected. Immediately after, the couple swiftly rented an apartment and moved in with their sons, Su Lidong and Su Lifeng, giving every appearance of settling in Beijing for the long haul.

Li Xiaojuan had been keeping a close eye on Su Shengguo and his wife. She wasn’t surprised they rented a place; she knew all about the rift between the Old Su Family and Su Qing. In fact, if the couple had reconciled with Su Qing so quickly, she would have suspected something was fishy.

While the "reconciliation" between Su Shengguo’s family and Su Qing was proceeding methodically, a problem erupted back at Su Qing’s dorm.

"What?!" On Sunday night, Su Qing and Li Huan had just returned from the Li family home and walked into their dorm room when they heard the news. "Qingqing’s missing? When did this happen?"

Liu Juan’s face was etched with worry. "This afternoon. I was supposed to meet Qingqing at the library, but I waited all afternoon and she never showed. I figured something just held her up, but when I got back, I found she wasn’t in the dorm either."

"That’s right," Sun Xiaowen added hurriedly. "I was in the dorm all afternoon and never saw Qingqing come back. I knew she and Liu Juan had plans for the library, so I just assumed she was there."

Niu Wenying and Chen Meizhen both spoke up. "We asked students in the other rooms, too. No one has seen her. Where could she have gone?"

Li Huan thought for a moment, then asked, "Do you think she went on a date with Yarn?"

Lately, whenever Yarn and Alton had free time, they would come hang out with the girls in their dorm. After a few of these get-togethers, Ye Qingqing had bravely confessed her feelings to Yarn. Whether it was her sincerity that moved him or not, Yarn had actually agreed to give dating a try. However, he had also made it clear to Ye Qingqing that because of his family, he needed to persuade his father first. Only if his family approved would he officially start dating her.

All the girls in the dorm had been thrilled for Ye Qingqing. Even though the two weren’t officially dating yet, it was a huge step forward.

"Unlikely," Su Qing said with a frown. "Yarn said he had to clear things with his family first. He would only start dating Qingqing after getting their approval. They wouldn’t have gone on a date before then."

"That’s right," Sun Xiaowen said hurriedly. "I agree, it’s not likely. If Qingqing and Yarn had started dating, she would’ve told us first. Besides, it’s so late. Even if they were on a date, she should’ve been back by now."

The others all agreed.

Li Huan grew anxious. "Then where did Qingqing go? Did you search everywhere? The classrooms? What about the pavilions, the gardens, places like that? Did you check them all?"

"We’ve checked them all," Liu Juan said quickly. "We also told the dorm supervisor. The problem is, it hasn’t even been twelve hours since she disappeared, so we can’t file a report with the police and have them help search. What are we supposed to do? Where on earth could she be?"

The girls grew more anxious as they talked. The sky was now pitch-black, and there was still no word from Ye Qingqing.

"I’m going to call my dad and ask him to help find her," Li Huan said, turning to leave.

Su Qing stopped her. "That’s not a good idea. I’ll contact the police. I’m on familiar terms with Captain Zou at the Beijing Public Security Bureau. I can ask him to help look for her."

"Oh, right." Li Huan realized it would indeed be inappropriate to get her father involved.

"Really? That’s wonderful, Su Qing!" The other girls were overjoyed.

"Alright, you all try not to worry. I’ll make the call and will probably have to go down to the station. Just wait here for news," Su Qing told them.

"We’ll go to the station with you," the girls said, too agitated to sit still.

"No, it’s fine. I can go alone. Don’t get too worked up. I’ll let you know as soon as I have news." Su Qing also planned to use the plants along the road to track Ye Qingqing’s whereabouts, so she certainly couldn’t have the other girls tagging along.
