The temperature here was already high. Without Flame-Averting Pills, every breath would have left their throats burning.

Even after taking the pills, everyone still felt a little irritable.

Yang Ling’s words made that trace of irritation vanish in an instant.

Every eye turned toward the jade box in Zhao Yingying’s hands, burning with excitement.

The Fire Spirit Pearl? One of the Twelve Sacred Martial Medicines!

Before landing on Fire Flood Dragon Island, each of them had drawn up a list in their minds.

There was no doubt that the Fire Spirit Pearl ranked among the top three on those lists.

The only things more precious than the Fire Spirit Pearl were the First-Class Internal Technique Methods and First-Class Martial Arts Techniques that the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect might have left behind here.

Zhao Yingying shot Yang Ling a discreet glare, put away the jade box, and said coolly, “Chief Constable Yang, which of your eyes saw a Fire Spirit Pearl?”

Yang Ling chuckled sheepishly. “This subordinate was just guessing.”

Everyone thought it over and felt rather speechless.

“Brother Qin, this seems to be an abandoned Mine Vein. When you went down earlier, did you encounter any mine beasts or Mine Insects?” Zhao Zheng asked curiously.

Remembering Zhao Zheng’s earlier warning, everyone found it a little strange as well.

By rights, the others should have been avoiding this place. Why had they come out of a Mining Shaft?

Qin Kunlun frowned slightly. “When we stumbled upon this place, it seemed lifeless. We didn’t hear a thing.”

Zhao Yingying added, “Fourth Brother, you said there were mine beasts and Mine Insects here? But we just went down to take a look, and didn’t even see a single mosquito.”

“Then I may have guessed wrong.” Zhao Zheng considered this for a moment, then smiled. “Where are you planning to go next?”

Qin Kunlun pointed in another direction. “We plan to scout over there.”

“Then we’re heading in different directions. Let’s part ways here.” Zhao Zheng cupped his hands and quickly led Yang Ling and the others away.

But before they had gone far, Qin Kunlun and his group caught up with them.

Zhao Zheng looked puzzled.

Qin Kunlun smiled. “The Commandery Princess said that since people from the Star-Sea Fishing Alliance are nearby, it would be safer for us to travel together. If we run into Sixth-Rank members of the Rong tribe, we can surround and eliminate them together.”

Zhao Zheng showed no particular reaction, but the others frowned slightly.

After thinking for a moment, Zhao Zheng glanced at Zhao Yingying. “Yingying, the place we’re heading to this time is quite dangerous. If you want to come with us, we’ll have to set some rules first.”

“Fourth Brother, we understand the rules. If we find anything valuable on this trip, you’ll be the one to distribute it,” Zhao Yingying replied.

Zhao Zheng nodded slightly and looked at Qin Kunlun.

A faint smile appeared on Qin Kunlun’s face. “I have no objections.”

“That works. There’s strength in numbers. With you joining us, our chances of success are even better,” Zhao Zheng said with a smile.

“Fourth Prince, is your destination the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect?” Qin Kunlun asked.

He Tongchen frowned slightly, and Jie Shu and the others exchanged glances.

Zhao Zheng smiled. “Your Divine Sect is well informed. The Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect is indeed our destination. I can’t guarantee we’ll gain anything. We’re just going to try our luck.”

“Since that’s the case, I have a proposal,” Qin Kunlun said thoughtfully. “If we find anything valuable in the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect, I’d like us to split it thirty-seventy.”

He Tongchen sneered. “Qin Kunlun, you’re the ones who insisted on traveling with us. Why are you already thinking about dividing up gains we haven’t even obtained? Thirty percent? Dream on.”

Qin Kunlun glanced at him and shook his head lightly. “Not thirty percent. We take seventy percent, and you take thirty.”

Even Yang Ling couldn’t help laughing.

He Tongchen gripped his sword hilt, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

The atmosphere instantly turned delicate.

“Do you know why no mine beasts or Mine Insects dare show themselves here?” Qin Kunlun asked with a faint smile.

Zhao Zheng motioned for He Tongchen to hold his temper, then frowned at Qin Kunlun. “Why?”

“Because of this.” A crystal-clear vial appeared in Qin Kunlun’s hand, its contents a vivid red liquid that sloshed inside.

What was it? Curiosity stirred in everyone.

“Fire Flood Dragon Blood.”

A notification appeared before Yang Ling. He was slightly startled.

Fire Flood Dragon Blood? How did Qin Kunlun have some? Was it from a Fire Flood Dragon here, or one from somewhere else?

“What is that?” Zhao Zheng asked, uncertain.

Qin Kunlun smiled. “This is Fire Flood Dragon Blood. As long as we have it, ordinary mystical beasts won’t dare come near. That means we won’t have to worry about surprise attacks from mystical beasts on Fire Flood Dragon Island. That’s why I want seventy percent.”

He Tongchen stared expressionlessly at the Fire Flood Dragon Blood in Qin Kunlun’s hand, his thoughts unreadable.

“This was given to me by an elder of our sect. He’s kept it in his collection for many years.”

“When he learned we were going to Fire Flood Dragon Island, he gave it to me to protect my life.”

Qin Kunlun continued, “But the mystical beasts and Sixth-Rank members of the Rong tribe aren’t our only enemies on Fire Flood Dragon Island. There’s also the Star-Sea Fishing Alliance. That’s why I hope to work with you, Fourth Prince. With me along, at least we won’t have to fear mystical beasts blocking our way.”

Zhao Zheng understood. “No wonder you got here faster than we did. You didn’t have to take detours.”

“The ruins of the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect may be inhabited by many fierce mystical beasts,” Qin Kunlun said. “With the Fire Flood Dragon Blood to keep them at bay, even more dangerous places won’t pose much of a risk to us.”

Zhao Zheng seemed to be giving the matter serious thought. His gaze kept drifting toward the abandoned Crimson Fire Iron Mine.

Given that not a single mine beast had appeared here, Qin Kunlun’s Fire Flood Dragon Blood clearly had an effect on driving mystical beasts away.

“Seventy-thirty won’t work. I have more people than you, and they can’t make this trip for nothing. If I only take thirty percent, there won’t be enough to go around,” Zhao Zheng said thoughtfully. “We each get half. If you disagree, we can go our separate ways.”

Qin Kunlun fell silent for a moment, then slowly nodded. “Fine. Half each.”

The two sides reached an agreement, immediately left the Crimson Fire Iron Mine, and headed toward the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect.

Yang Ling glanced at the human skin map in his Green Dragon Ring.

The entrance was clearly marked on the map by a building.

“Once we reach the Crimson Refined Fire Flood Dragon Sect and find this building, we’ll have found the entrance.”

“Then we’ll find an opportunity to go in and investigate.”

About one shichen later, the group seemed to have emerged from the primeval forest. Buildings stretched out before them in great clusters.

They were all in ruins, covered in vines.

But someone had already arrived ahead of them. At least a thousand Martial Artists were stationed there.

Zhao Zheng and Qin Kunlun exchanged glances, each seeing a hint of concern and confusion in the other’s eyes.

“Why are there so many people? How many Flame-Averting Pills would that take?”

Yang Ling was surprised too. He opened the Status Panels of those people and took a look.

The vast majority were only Ninth-Rank.

“By rights... Fire Flood Dragon Island is in a state of extreme heat right now, and it’s even hotter here. Ninth-Rank Martial Artists would need even more Flame-Averting Pills to come here. Yet even Zhao State only arranged for a little over a hundred Sixth-Rank Martial Artists to land on the island, using the pills on the most suitable fighters. But they’ve sent so many Ninth-Rank Martial Artists?”

Yang Ling’s confusion was the same as Zhao Zheng and the others’.

Zhao Zheng’s expression grew increasingly grave. “They’re disciples of the Star-Sea Fishing Alliance. Perhaps the Star-Sea Fishing Alliance has found something that can replace Flame-Averting Pills...”

Everyone’s hearts sank.

On Fire Flood Dragon Island, the various factions were essentially competing to see who had the most people.

If the Star-Sea Fishing Alliance had found something that could replace Flame-Averting Pills, then the number of its disciples who had landed on the island might far exceed their expectations.

Considering that a large group of Star-Sea Fishing Alliance disciples had ambushed them as soon as they landed, this possibility seemed highly likely.
