Soul Emperor Awakening
Chapter 605: Entry Restriction
The real key was just for opening the door; without it, all other attempts were useless. That was why everyone else was waiting for Bingxin to open the Phoenix Ruins.
Now that it was open, each group selected their strongest representatives to enter. As long as they held one of the keys, they would be able to get in.
Bingxin had prepared keys for all of them, so a good number of those present would be able to enter. With so many experts on their side, they held a considerable advantage!
“What a disaster, a true disaster… To think it would come to this. Outsiders are setting foot in the Phoenix Ruins for the first time in history. It’s a defilement of this sacred place!” The Elders were filled with fury, but the matter was already a foregone conclusion; there was nothing they could do to change it.
There were simply too many members of the Demon Race present. They might be able to stop a few, but they absolutely did not dare to kill them all. If they provoked them into joining forces, the Phoenix Race would be in for a world of hurt.
Ordinarily, they wouldn’t join forces. But if they were all killed now, they would certainly unite. That was why the Phoenix Race dared not act recklessly. They could only watch helplessly as the others entered, hardly daring to try and block them all.
BANG!
Suddenly, a member of the Demon Race was sent flying from above, crashing hard onto the ground and rolling several times. In quick succession, more and more demons were flung down from above. Some were so heavily injured by the shock that they couldn’t stop vomiting blood!
The Cultivation of these members of the Demon Race was not low. The weakest were at the Core Formation Stage, while the strongest reached the Void Spirit Stage. Even their leaders had come personally, yet they were all violently thrown back, completely unable to get in.
This scene left everyone dumbfounded. They had excitedly tried to rush in, only to be violently repelled, completely unable to enter.
Some tried to charge in again, but they were still violently thrown back. It was impossible to force their way through—it was useless even with a key in hand!
“Haha, it seems that without the Phoenix Bloodline, you can’t get in at all! The Phoenix Ruins aren’t so easy to enter!” A Phoenix Race Elder couldn’t help but laugh heartily when he saw this.
Since this was the first time outsiders were being allowed into the Phoenix Ruins, they all thought a key was all they needed. Who knew that they wouldn’t be able to enter at all? ‘Could it be that you absolutely must have Phoenix Essence Blood to enter?’
The members of the Demon Race were stunned. If one truly needed Phoenix Essence Blood to enter, didn’t that mean they had come all this way for nothing? This was frustrating enough to make one cough up blood. They had planned to snatch treasures inside, but how were they supposed to do that now?
There were no treasures for them to snatch; they could only watch from the outside!
“Hey, he got in! The one over there got in! It seems you can get in if your Cultivation is at the Spirit Pill Stage. Only those with lower Cultivation can enter!”
“It’s true! You can get in as long as your Cultivation is at the Spirit Pill Stage or below. Quick, pick those with lower Cultivation to go in. Grab as many treasures as you can bring out!”
“Quick, quick, quick! Take this Stone Slab and charge in now!”
…
Some members of the Demon Race happened to have a lower Cultivation. When they took a Stone Slab and tried to enter, they found they could get in easily, much to their delighted surprise. Their Cultivation might be a bit low, but at least they could get in. That was far better than staring blankly from the outside!
“How can this be? They can still get in this way…” A Phoenix Race Elder’s face darkened. He never expected these members of the Demon Race to get inside after all. Their Cultivation wasn’t high, but at least they were in.
There were no past records of this, so they were unaware of such a restriction. Normally, members of the Phoenix Race could enter freely regardless of their Cultivation, which was why Bingxin would be able to go in personally later. With her Void Spirit Stage Cultivation, she could enter without being obstructed.
‘So only those with Cultivation below the Core Formation Stage can enter…’ Lin Xuan’s eyes flashed. This would be a huge advantage for them, as it meant there wouldn’t be too many powerful experts inside.
“Looks like we can’t get in. We can only watch from out here.” The Grand Elder of the Golden Dragon Race and the others could only watch from the outside, but that didn’t mean they had come for nothing. After all, they still needed to protect their people when they came back out.
Just then, a clamor arose in the distance, followed by a thunderous bang as a group from the Demon Race was sent flying. Everyone turned to look and saw a group from the Black Dragon Race charging over. They were plowing through everything in their path, killing anyone who dared to block them!
This frightened the surrounding members of the Demon Race, who scrambled to get out of the way. The group from the Black Dragon Race flew down and landed in the clearing, led by the current Dragon King of the Black Dragon Race, Hei Chen, who was at the Peak of Void Spirit Stage in his Cultivation.
There were no longer any cultivators at the Spirit King Stage. In theory, Hei Chen’s Level was the same as Bingxin and her group, or the same Level as the Golden Dragon Race’s Grand Elder, Jin Wei. Hei Chen wasn’t originally the Dragon King, and certainly wouldn’t have been so powerful; the previous Dragon King had been killed by the Golden Dragon King in a life-or-death battle, which was how Hei Chen successfully took his place.
The arrival of their group drew the gazes of the Golden Dragon Race. Furious eyes locked onto the newcomers, and the air between the two sides grew taut with tension, ready to snap!
However, they didn’t immediately start fighting. Given the current situation, it was absolutely not the right time. If they fought until both sides were injured, the many members of the Demon Race surrounding them—who hated them to the bone—would be the ones to reap the benefits.
“He’s Lin Xuan, the one who killed my son!” Hei Chen’s gaze turned cold, and an extreme chill surfaced in his eyes. He desperately wanted to kill Lin Xuan with his own hands, but Lin Xuan was currently surrounded by so many experts that there was no way for him to act.
Lin Xuan felt no fear as he simply looked back, a faint sneer on his face. He wasn’t afraid of Hei Chen. He recalled the great battle in the Ice and Snow Tower; Hei Chen’s son had been utterly ruthless, so of course Lin Xuan hadn’t let him off.
“There’s no time to waste. Let’s go now!” Bingxin shot them a meaningful look. This was not the time for a staring contest. The remaining experts could waste time bickering with them; for now, the priority was to get inside and retrieve the Heart of the Fire Phoenix.
Afterward, Bingxin led Lin Xuan and flew up toward the entrance above. Of all the people who had come with them, only Lin Xuan had a Cultivation at the Spirit Pill Stage. Liu Yue’Er and the others hadn’t come; their Cultivation was too low for them to be of any help here.
They had brought Lin Xuan along purely to let him gain some experience. With so many experts present, protecting one weaker person wouldn’t have been an issue. Now, it seemed that wasn’t even necessary. Only a handful of supreme experts could actually enter, and he didn’t need to worry about the other members of the Demon Race at the Spirit Pill Stage.
“You take that entrance, I’ll take this one,” Bingxin said, signaling for Lin Xuan to go to another door.
Lin Xuan nodded, took the Stone Slab he was holding, and placed it into the Stone Gate. With a RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE, the gate opened. He retrieved the Stone Slab and walked through. He wasn’t repelled by the force and was able to enter with ease.
The moment he disappeared inside, Hei Chen said in a grim voice, “Kill him for me. Bring me his head!”
“Yes, Dragon King!”
Two young disciples from the Black Dragon Race, both at the Peak of Spirit Pill Stage Cultivation, appeared behind him. Their gazes were piercing, their eyes held a black gleam, but what emanated from them most was killing intent.
