Chapter 2019: Too Tough a Nut to Crack

  • Next Chapter

The Magus Civilization legions arriving on Planet Teyran belonged to two major members of the Magus Alliance—the Grand Elven World and the Beastmen World.

The moment Lady Bev sensed the shockwaves from the Infinity Light, she dispatched both legions to support the Great Monkey of Destruction and his allies.

The Elven World and Beastmen World legions, along with their respective overlords, had previously been active on the frontlines.

The fact that they could now spare enough strength to provide support on this large-sized mechanical planet deep within the Gallant Federation’s heartland made one thing clear... The Magus Civilization had already gained the upper hand across the various battlefronts, giving it far more freedom to redeploy its forces.

With elven archers clearing the way and beastmen shaman priests chanting prayers of praise, the God of Elves and the God of Beastmen descended upon the overlord-level battlefield one after another.

Both were among the most powerful figures in the entire Magus Alliance.

Aeluna, the God of Elves, had already reached Rank Eight long before the Clash of Civilizations.

Among Rank Eight overlords, she was still considered relatively new and could not match the ferocity or dominance of Wukong, the Great Monkey of Destruction.

Even so, as a Rank Eight overlord who possessed an Eternal Soul, her strength and deterrence already surpassed those of countless overlords throughout the Astral Realm.

Kampas, the God of Beastmen, was no less remarkable. He was undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures among Rank Seven overlords.

With a bloodstained blade in hand, he fully lived up to his title as the Magus Alliance’s God of War.

During previous battles against the Gallant Federation, Kampas had severely damaged an overlord-class war fleet and destroyed a colossal overlord-class mobile suit.

The fact that Bev had sent these two as reinforcements showed just how highly she regarded Wukong and Li Qingshan.

“It looks like Wukong has been badly wounded. We arrived too late,” Aeluna said as she entered the battlefield on Planet Teyran, holding a verdant scepter in her hand.

She was a breathtakingly beautiful woman.

Within the Magus Alliance, it had long been said that the God of Elves was the most beautiful of all its deities. It was an opinion widely shared in private.

Aeluna was not only beautiful in appearance, but also beautiful at heart.

Most planes within the Magus Alliance benefited in some way after coming into contact with the Grand Elven World.

The elves’ love for nature and life could easily touch the hearts of most sentient races.

Kampas, the God of Beastmen, was an entirely different kind of overlord.

The bloodstained blade in his hand continued to vibrate as it tore through the energy barrier created by the Gallant Federation.

Unlike Aeluna, who carried herself with grace and serenity, Kampas was a complete brute.

Even the way he governed the plane under his command made that obvious.

As one of the oldest members of the Magus Alliance, the Grand Elven World continued to prosper while expanding into more and more fields.

Meanwhile, the Beastmen World still relied heavily on the strength of its enormous population. This was closely tied to the beliefs of the Beast Gods and some of their more outdated ways of thinking.

Even the Grand Elven World had stepped in to support the growing half-beastmen population, yet Kampas himself remained hesitant.

When it came to governing a civilization and guiding the development of his people, Kampas was indeed a rather slow-witted alliance overlord.

But on the battlefield, he was absolutely reliable!

More importantly, he was completely loyal to the Magus Civilization!

In truth, those two qualities alone were enough, especially the second one.

No matter what happened, the Magus Civilization would never allow these old allies, who had stood beside them since the very beginning, to fall too far behind.

When Beastmen World ran short of funds, the Magus Alliance quietly channeled vast amounts of magicoins and other resources into it every thousand years.

On top of that, it also received support through various alliance policies.

Aeluna’s successful advancement to Rank Eight before the Clash of Civilizations was roughly forty percent due to her own talent and ability, a little over twenty percent due to luck, and another thirty percent due to the Magus Civilization’s support.

Without that support, she would not have advanced so smoothly. In fact, whether she could have reached Rank Eight at all was another question.

A beam of light shot from Aeluna’s verdant scepter, striking the Great Monkey of Destruction at the center of the battlefield.

The Gallant Federation fleet immediately unleashed a barrage of fire in an attempt to intercept it, but none of the attacks could stop the beam.

Its purpose was not to harm Wukong. It was meant to soothe the violent rage consuming him and help him regain his senses.

For those who walked the path of destruction, recklessly destroying others also meant destroying themselves.

This was a warning once left behind by a Supreme Knight Overlord of the Magus Civilization.

Aeluna and the others had once fought alongside that overlord, so they understood the flaw in the law of destruction all too well.

After Aeluna’s Beam of Clarity struck him, the blood-red glow within Wukong’s dark-gold eyes gradually began to fade.

Aeluna’s skills bore some resemblance to those of the Magus Civilization’s mages.

In recent years, the elves and dragons had both played major roles in expanding the magical knowledge of Magus World.

Elven magic and draconic magic had even been recognized as separate fields within Sky City, with dedicated branches established to study and record their profound principles.

Aeluna truly lived up to her reputation as a studious overlord. She had not only achieved remarkable accomplishments within the divine faith system, but had also begun exploring other knowledge areas.

After regaining some clarity, Wukong shook his head vigorously. He raised one enormous fist and tapped the golden circlet around his forehead.

Under the combined effects of the golden circlet and Aeluna’s light beam, his previously savage and unruly aura finally began to settle.

“Good timing! Help me take down that stinking mosquito who only knows how to ambush people!” Wukong pointed at the Blood Mosquito Overlord not far away, his teeth clenched in fury.

This time, at least, Wukong did not charge forward alone. He finally remembered that he had allies.

After speaking to Aeluna, Wukong seemed to recall something. Although he had lost control of himself earlier, his memories remained intact.

He turned toward Venerable Yunqi and smiled awkwardly at him.

“Uh... sorry about earlier, bro. You were trying to help me, right? Come on! Let’s work together and crush this little pest!”

In the blink of an eye, Wukong went from a violent brute to a smooth-talking monkey.

Venerable Yunqi could not quite process the sudden change and stood there, momentarily stunned.

Then again, this alone explained how the Great Monkey of Destruction had managed to get along so well with the Buddhist, Daoist, and Yao factions of the Immortal Realm.

Faced with Wukong’s invitation, Venerable Yunqi glanced at the nearby Gallant Federation legions, then at the Magus Civilization reinforcements arriving in the distance.

For a moment, he did not know what to choose.

He was not the only one hesitating. Even the core legions of Myriad Manifestations World under his command were unsure how to proceed.

They had all witnessed the Blood Mosquito Overlord approach Venerable Yunqi with obvious hostility moments earlier.

Since they had remained hidden with him near the edge of Planet Teyran’s battlefield, the Myriad Manifestations World legions had suffered very few casualties.

Suddenly, a Rank Six Wanderer swung his longsword at the nearest Blood Mosquito clone that was still barely alive.

The clone radiated the aura of a Rank Five creature, but the instant the blade struck it, its body exploded into countless smaller Blood Mosquitoes.

That single attack marked the beginning. Following the Rank Six Wanderer’s lead, more and more Myriad Manifestations World legions joined the effort to surround and destroy the remaining Blood Mosquitoes nearby.

It seemed they had already made the decision on Venerable Yunqi’s behalf!

Even so, the leading Wanderers showed considerable restraint. For now, they targeted only the Blood Mosquitoes and made no move against the Gallant Federation legions.

Seeing this, Venerable Yunqi took a deep breath.

He chose to follow his heart.

Accepting Wukong’s invitation, he raised his sword and charged toward Mosquito Daoist.

Despite being only an early-stage Rank Seven overlord, he dared to confront a top powerhouse whose strength had reached at least the mid or late stage of Rank Eight.

Whatever the outcome, Venerable Yunqi had no regrets. He had acted according to his own convictions, and that left a deep impression on the powerhouses watching from across the battlefield.

Wukong threw his head back and laughed.

“Excellent! You’re exactly the kind of person I, Old Sun, like!”

He then glanced at the Stabilizer of the Four Seas, which had already snapped in two.

Although he no longer had a working weapon, Wukong’s body itself was one of his greatest weapons.

More importantly, this time he did not charge forward relying on brute force alone. Now that he had regained his senses, the Great Monkey of Destruction knew it was time to use his head.

As the successor to the Magus Civilization’s Destruction Overlord, reckless courage was far from Wukong’s only strength.

Now fully back in battle mode, the Great Monkey of Destruction reached behind his ear and tore out a large handful of jet-black fur.

He pulled so hard and ripped out so much that even he could not help wincing.

Holding the fur in his palm, Wukong drew a deep breath and blew.

Infused with his destructive aura, the strands of fur transformed into countless monkeys, each radiating the power of destruction.

In the blink of an eye, a vast army of destruction had formed.

Now, he had his army of destruction to fight against the army of Blood Mosquitoes!

Had Wukong still been at the peak of his strength, Mosquito Daoist probably would not have dared provoke him at all. He would have gone straight after Destruction Spring on another battlefield instead.

This monkey was simply too tough a nut to crack.

In the next instant, another fierce clash erupted.

Chaos.

Everything descended into total chaos!
