His tone revealed a clear sense of longing, and there was a hint of worry in his eyes.

“Mm-hmm.”

Chen Ming responded ambiguously and asked, “So, you’ve been spending the past few years searching for suitable creatures?”

“Yes, these past few years have basically been all about this. The majority of our funding has been invested here. We heard that someone you collaborate with possesses very advanced biotechnology, and we wanted to reach out to him but we don’t have your or his contact information.”

“It wasn’t until you reached out to us that we saw this opportunity.”

Chen Ming shook his head slightly and asked, “Why are you so persistent about this? You should know that the Empire doesn’t lack habitable planets. The universe is vast, and there are still many habitable planets waiting for the Empire to discover.”

“This technology has no real prospects.”

The minister seemed to detect a hint of rejection in Chen Ming’s words and felt somewhat uncontrollably disappointed.

“This is my ideal; I want every planet to become a habitable planet.”

“I also know this is not very likely, so I broadened my goal. As long as a planet has the potential to become habitable, I hope it can truly become one.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to.”

Chen Ming frowned slightly. He could tell the minister’s last statement wasn’t honest.

But Chen Ming didn’t sense any dangerous intent in his words; he had some more personal motive behind this.

After a moment of consideration, Chen Ming asked again, “Are the other people on your team willing to invest in such a place? Year after year? They have no objections?”

“Those who have objections don’t stay. Our department hasn’t had any newcomers for about four to five years, and everyone who remains is willing to invest in this project.”

While responding to Chen Ming, the minister silently monologued in his heart.

They might stay because they share similar ideals, perhaps because of the leisurely nature of the work, or maybe they just happen to like it here, but in any case, they stayed.

Chen Ming stared at the minister for a long time, contemplating the risks and benefits of proceeding.

He suddenly looked up at the sky, then down at the sparse grass beneath his feet, and made a decision.

“What else does your project need?”

The minister was stunned for a moment, contemplating Chen Ming’s meaning, and asked with some excitement, “You’ve agreed?”

“Yes, tell me what your project still needs, and I will help you prepare it. But afterward, the research will require your best efforts.”

The minister could hardly contain his desire to burst into laughter, but in front of Chen Ming, he had to maintain respect, so he quickly controlled his emotions.

But he couldn’t help the smile at the corners of his mouth from lifting.

“By the way, what’s your name, Minister?”

“Tian Zhan.”

Chen Ming agreed to the Climate Transformation Department’s collaboration request.

He directly sent information about his research center, which should only be given to some Empire leaders and legion leaders.

Once the research center opens internally, a special area will be arranged for them.

It seems that Tian Zhan plans to bring the entire Climate Transformation Department to switch allegiance.

It’s not impossible.

The Climate Transformation Department itself is a rather leisurely department.

With hundreds of people having been idle enough to work on theoretically extremely difficult automated climate transformation, they surprisingly even came up with nearly critical results.

Just now, with the discovery of luminous plants on Gaia Planet, a crucial lead for results has emerged, so switching allegiance is quite normal.

In this era, working for the government isn’t necessarily the best.

For a researcher with ambitions, going where resources are available is most logical.

Usually, the government would provide the most resources, but since Chen Ming can offer more, some would definitely come to him.

Of course, there will also be researchers who pursue status, identity, and money.

So, Chen Ming is curious if the switch from the Climate Transformation Department will lose some people crucial to the research.

However, Tian Zhan assured that he would work on persuading his team and would quickly inform Chen Ming of the decision.

Of course, it’s not like either of them would immediately undertake these future tasks. It’s more about Tian Zhan’s intentions, while Chen Ming is ready to try some actions now.

Chen Ming asked Tian Zhan to wait a bit and called his Supreme Point over, jumping into orbit above Gaia Planet.

On his spaceship, there’s a dedicated cultivation area where he plants some vegetables and fruits he finds quite tasty.

Of course, the primary focus is his Immortal Spirit Tree.

The purpose of calling over the Supreme Point was simple for Chen Ming.

He wanted to execute a previous idea he mentioned.

Plant the Immortal Spirit Tree on Gaia Planet.

Although Gaia Planet is still harsh compared to normal habitable planets, the Immortal Spirit Tree, as a spiritual creature, isn’t that fragile.

The inherent characteristics of the Immortal Spirit Tree should help Chen Ming achieve some objectives.

The location for planting the Immortal Spirit Tree is right under Chen Ming’s feet, on the most climatically stable equator of Gaia Planet.

There’s no need to worry about soil, air quality, or water resource quality.

Just plant the Immortal Spirit Tree, and he believes the planet’s consciousness will come to take care of it naturally.

Chen Ming took the Immortal Spirit Tree out from the Supreme Point and placed it into the freshly dug pit on the ground.

He hadn’t even instructed the digging robots to fill the pit when he saw the soil deep underground begin to writhe.
