Chapter 1348: Chapter 1324: Courting Death (2)

There’s wind tonight! It rustles the treetops lining the road, creating eerie shadows that make the whole night seem incredibly strange.

Two sharp steel claws quietly appear in the hands, keen eyes fixed on the two-story house behind the thicket. Lao Jiu isn’t focusing on the house itself, but rather on the shadows hidden in those dark corners. These people, though not terrifying, are ruthless and obsessed with killing, far beyond those assassins; they are born for shedding blood.

Although their strength may not match his, it would be careless to underestimate them—these people can cause quite a bit of trouble. Lao Jiu gestures to Ye Luishu by his side, pointing to the right, indicating that Ye Luishu should handle the left.

Ten steel claws tightly clench, flashing a silver light under the moonlight. The figure darts out, the five fingers appearing before a person, not giving him time to react—the sharp fingertips have already penetrated his throat bone, blood oozing from the five holes. Ye Luishu supports the corpse with one hand, gently placing it on the ground, exhaling before turning to the next target.

The left side simultaneously begins the same cleanup, causing quite a disturbance among the moving shadows of the trees. Lao Jiu shakes his head helplessly; originally, the plan was to quietly infiltrate and rescue, but it’s no wonder he feels agitated since the number of people outside is twice what was expected.

It seems like death row prisoners are continuously being added, as Xiao Lin watches the movement on both sides with binoculars, Hua Qingyi fully armed beside him. The front position has never been suitable for him; close combat isn’t his strength.

As soon as the exterior is mostly cleared and Ye Luishu sends the signal, Hua Qingyi will find a suitable position, ready for sniping. With Quan Mingyuan’s approach, a sniper will also be waiting somewhere for Xiao Lin to appear. Sniping may not be the most useful role in this battle, but it’s definitely indispensable, and his task is to find and kill the opponent before they strike first.

"Be careful!" A signal from the left side indicated the first batch has been cleared; Xiao Lin cautions Hua Qingyi.

"No problem, bro!" Hua Qingyi, carrying his gear, heads to the left side, sweeping the perimeter again with equal vigilance to prevent any surprises.

Xiao Lin focuses on the right side, Lao Jiu’s area remains extremely quiet. His sharp eyes can’t help but feel puzzled; with Lao Jiu’s skills, it shouldn’t take so long to deal with these exterior death row prisoners. Is something wrong? Although he thinks this, Xiao Lin insists on staying in his position.

From Boss Xing, Xiao Lin learned that this time Quan Mingyuan secretly transferred many new death row prisoners from Yanjing into Palermo. Though not thoroughly trained in the camp, they are recent murderous criminals who committed heinous crimes. If these people are placed outside, then the opponents in the warehouse are likely higher-level figures.

Just as Xiao Lin focuses on the right side, in a small house possibly only a few square meters in size, a man sits cross-legged like a statue, unmoving. In the darkness, unless his eyes move, one wouldn’t realize there’s a person there; his bright pupils seem like flickering flames, causing an oppressive and chilling sensation.

Lao Jiu carefully steps on the gravel to minimize the sound at his feet. Despite finding the right-side cleanup too smooth, he feels this ease is somewhat unnatural.

Not far ahead is the transaction point, but the entire two-story warehouse is unlit, like a dead city towering by this secluded roadside. He’s already prepared for this to be a trap—not as easy to pass as before—but...

Crack! A pebble breaks with a sound, Lao Jiu halts his steps. Beside him is a room filled with clutter; he keeps a close watch on this unusually dark house, hesitating for a moment before moving forward.

The glittering eyes slowly narrow, gaze locking onto the distant red shadow through the gaps in the clutter, lips moving, producing strange sounds from the throat.

The mechanical turning "KA-KA" sound is extremely clear in the silent night. KA, KA, KA! Each sound falls, bringing a sound closer from far away.

Lao Jiu stops, the rhythmic sound echoes around his ears.

At the same time, both Xiao Lin and Ye Luishu hear the sound. Hua Qingyi observes the origin of the sound through his scope, yet unable to find it in the darkness.

Lao Jiu steps forward, being the closest to the sound. As he disappears in the open ground, a shadow emerges from the dark, settling down while a red silhouette appears before him.

The cold eyes venomously stare at Lao Jiu as if looking at a lifeless corpse. Lao Jiu feels like he’s being watched by a venomous snake, his whole body chills, knowing he’s encountered a formidable enemy.

Seconds, minutes! Time has become irrelevant at this moment; the tightly-clenched claws suddenly relax, emitting a piercing scraping sound—a warning from his comrades that there’s a formidable expert hidden in this darkness.

Xiao Lin raises his eyebrows, Ye Luishu continues searching within his range, Hua Qingyi finds a higher terrain; however, the occupied spot is waiting for him to clear it one-by-one. No one has stopped their tasks due to this warning; they believe Lao Jiu will handle it exceptionally.

At this moment, the sound resonates between the two men’s ears, the KA-KA sound from the man’s throat suddenly stops. The inflated clothing and surrounding wind blend seamlessly, emitting a faint rustling.

Lao Jiu narrows his pupils; ten steel claws reflect a pale light in the moonlight, adding a chilling mist to the impending massacre.

Serious Lao Jiu is terrifying; likewise, the breathing of the monitored man seems smooth, but there’s a detectable urgency. The murderous gaze brings him fear and despair.

An unknown amount of time passes as the two engage in the first battle with their eyes; neither wins in terms of momentum or resolve.

As tension reaches suffocating levels, Lao Jiu’s body suddenly moves, almost sticking to the flat ground as he leaps up, his right claw like a snake’s tongue piercing through the ground, directly into the man’s head.

However, the man simply sways left and right, easily dodging Lao Jiu’s attack. (To be continued. If you like this story, feel free to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation or monthly votes. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
