Chapter 959: What Is Song Zhi’ang Hiding

  • Next Chapter

Sha looked at Ye Feng with icy eyes and murmured, “If you put it that way... then I really want to find out. A brother whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent people… When the time comes, will Li Guanqi acknowledge you?”

He paused, the corners of his lips curling into an eerie smile as he slowly turned away. “When the time comes, even if Li Guanqi understands that you had no choice and spares your life, will you truly be able to stand beside them as you once did? Even after slaughtering hundreds or thousands? Heh… Human nature is the one thing that can never withstand being put to the test.”

With that, Sha casually raised a hand and sank back into the black pool to continue reconstructing his body.

Ye Feng lowered his head slightly, his eyes glinting with unreadable emotions. He then looked at the demonic spirit beside him, which spoke with a cold smile. “I know everything you’re thinking. Heh heh.”

Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Ye Feng quietly left the hall.

Song Zhi’ang struggled to her feet, the wound on her neck healing rapidly under the surge of demonic qi. Just as she was about to leave, Sha’s voice stopped her.

Outside the great hall, Ye Feng fought desperately to rein in his emotions. He stilled his mind, not daring to let even the slightest flicker of emotion surface for fear of alerting the demonic spirit hidden within his arm.

He could not understand why Song Zhi’ang had left a wisp of demonic soul essence on the Wrathful Slaughter Sword. He did not dare probe it with his divine consciousness because it bore a seal she had placed herself. If anyone else tried to examine it, the restriction would activate and instantly destroy the soul fragment within. The method closely resembled how Ye Feng had sealed away his own memories. No one but Song Zhi’ang could uncover what her soul fragment contained.

Ye Feng had forgotten which memories he had sealed away, but he had an inexplicable certainty that those memories concerned Li Guanqi’s secret.

He narrowed his eyes, forcing himself to remain calm before vanishing from the area. The domain world was vast beyond measure, yet it had long since become deserted, devoid of life. The once-mighty Sha organization had been reduced to only three people.

Ye Feng sat atop a lonely mountain peak and drank in silence. He stared into the distance, his thoughts a mystery. Suddenly, a tear slid down the corner of his eye.

Bang!

He smashed the wine jar to pieces. As he stared at the shattered fragments scattered at his feet, an ominous premonition rose within him. It was as though his decision would inevitably drive him and Li Guanqi’s group farther and farther apart.

Everything Sha had said made sense, but Li Guanqi cared far less about what the world thought than Sha imagined. Ye Feng could already picture it. No matter how many people he killed or what terrible deeds he committed, as long as he remained alive, Li Guanqi would still consider him a brother.

But what if events truly unfolded as Sha had described? What if he killed hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands? When they finally met again, would he be able to embrace his brothers with his blood-soaked hands?

Ye Feng stared at the churning sea of black demonic clouds overhead. A savage light flared in his eyes, and he swung the Wrathful Slaughter Sword violently toward the heavens.

With a single slash, terrifying golden sword qi erupted, threaded with strands of demonic qi. A golden sword light cleaved the heavens cleanly in two, stretching thousands of zhang into the distance. Yet, beyond the sundered black clouds lurked a darkness deeper still.

Rumble!

Thunderous explosions echoed throughout the space beyond the great hall.

Sha leaned against the edge of the pool, letting countless nameless vengeful spirits gnaw at his soul. His narrowed eyes settled on the kneeling woman beside the pool. “Have you learned anything?”

Song Zhi’ang frowned. She replied honestly, “I do not know what my lord is referring to.”

Sha rested both hands on the edge of the pool. His unfathomable gaze seemed capable of seeing through everything as he stared directly into her eyes. “For example… my identity.”

His voice was glacial. Song Zhi’ang didn’t know what Sha truly meant.

Song Zhi’ang’s expression flickered, and she quickly lowered her head, not daring to meet his gaze. “I don’t know! I was just following your orders, leader. I didn’t do anything that I wasn’t ordered to!”

Sha let out a cold laugh. With a sudden wave of his hand, he dragged Song Zhi’ang into the air. His fingers clamped around her slender neck, and he rose to his feet before mercilessly slamming her into the black pool.

Although the black pool reconstructed Sha’s body, it acted like acid on Song Zhi’ang, corroding everything it touched. The flesh of her face began to dissolve and rot, her skin burning as though pressed against a branding iron.

Song Zhi’ang screamed in agony. The moment she opened her mouth, black water flooded her nose and throat before pouring down into her stomach. It felt as though she were being flayed alive.

Sha pressed a palm against her forehead, his expression icy. At once, the beautiful black flower mark between her brows flickered into view as a mysterious power swept across it.

Sha sneered. “You sealed away your memories, just as Ye Feng did? Heh. Do you realize that every last ounce of power within you belongs to me?”

As he spoke, Sha’s aura shifted until it perfectly matched Song Zhi’ang’s, all because of the flower-shaped mark between her brows.

Heaven and earth changed color as boundless demonic qi surged across the domain world like a raging ocean. Amid the tempest, Ye Feng was no more than a solitary boat at sea, ready to capsize at any moment. His body stiffened, the crushing power pinning him firmly in place.

Then a strand of black qi surfaced on the Wrathful Slaughter Sword. Sha’s icy voice slowly rang out. “I found it.”

Whoosh!

As Ye Feng watched the wisp of demonic qi being drawn from the blade, a terrible sense of foreboding welled up within him. At that exact moment, the demon spirit appeared and taunted him. “You can’t hide anything from my master. Don’t even think of it.”

Boom!

Though his body was restrained, Ye Feng forced his arm up through sheer willpower and slashed out with his sword. At the same time, he thrust out his left hand and seized the demonic spirit by the head.

Ye Feng was already in a foul mood, and the fact that the demonic spirit could now appear whenever it pleased, completely beyond his control, only fueled his anger.

Clutching the demonic spirit’s head, Ye Feng said coldly, “Even if you can exist independently now, I am still the master of this body.”

The demon spirit made no attempt to break free. It merely laughed in his face. “Hahaha! You’re powerless! So what if you grab me? Hm? What can you possibly do to me?”
