Chapter 306: What is the Purpose?

The light of the morning sun drifted through the windows of the hotel suite, illuminating the two figures lying on the massive bed, naked, with their clothes strewn everywhere. Chloe’s white hair was spilled over Silas’s chest, her breathing soft and controlled. Her cheeks were tinged with red, and her body felt warm after their… conversation… the night before.

It seemed the bearer of Absolute Zero wasn’t as cold as people imagined.

Silas was still in her, their thighs painted with dried love juices. At this rate, it wouldn’t be shocking if she turned out to be pregnant. Not when they were fucking on almost every given day. But fortunately for them, the system had assured them that until they were ready for kids, they didn’t have to worry about pregnancies.

That didn’t mean they could do just anything… maybe.

Well, away from that. Silas woke up, feeling more refreshed than he’d been in the past few days. The tension seemed to have gotten the best of him. Kelvina, the system’s incomprehensible parables, the banquet- everything had attacked him together, rendering him weak.

“God! I needed that…” He commented as he woke up fully. He looked at the beautiful woman sleeping in his arms and smiled.

“So cute…” She was indeed cute.

Silas gently placed a kiss on her forehead and placed her head on the pillow, but before he could move, she snuggled closer, pushing his member deeper inside her.

“Fuc-” Silas almost cursed as he felt his member almost harden inside her. He had to fight it with all his will. “I have to piss… Come on…”

He tried again, and after the fifth attempt, he managed to escape the clutches of his fearsome girlfriend. He then walked to the bathroom, scratching his butt, while his member finally calmed down.

In the bathroom, he emptied his bladder, only to feel the urge to empty his bowels too, so he sat on the toilet. There, he finally remembered he had a roommate who wasn’t Chloe.

“I’m sure he slept with Alicia in the other room…” Silas shrugged it off. It was good to leave them alone. If they crossed the line, it would be good. But if they took it slow and built it further, it would be better.

Silas understood this better than anyone else because his relationship with his women had all been… fast. Anna had taken some time to build, but it was nonexistent considering how they started off. If it weren’t for the system, their meetings would’ve come off as flings with no results in them being together… forever.

Of course, it wasn’t as if he couldn’t get all those women. Say, with his looks and ability, it wouldn’t have been a difficult job, but it wouldn’t have been as easy as with the system either. Anna and Chloe would have been easy.

Anna was infatuated with him and wanted nothing more than to fuck him. Chloe was just as infatuated, but above everything else… she was Silas’s first friend, something that didn’t last long.

But what of the rest? What if Gromda had turned out to be… a monster as they claimed? Would he have felt attracted to her? Or say, if she was just as beautiful as she is, what proves that she wouldn’t have tried to kill him at first sight? Love at first sight? It was real, but considering who or what Gromda is- an orc- that wasn’t assured.

What of Echidna? Would he have gotten her if it weren’t for his system skills? Whether he liked it or not, most of the credit would go to the system. It had been his wingman from day one. Without it, he wouldn’t have been here…

And that brought up the question: What is the purpose of it all?

What was the purpose of the SSS-Rank power? What was the purpose of the beauty, the conceptual ability, and the many insane abilities that would make others powerful awakened? He knew that some of the abilities he’d gotten from the system were akin to B-Rank to S-Rank abilities that anyone would die to have.

Take Piercing Arrows, for instance. This was a Cupid Weapon ability that allowed its user to summon arrows that could pierce through anything, provided the user was powerful enough. There were only a few things that could block the arrows summoned.

So, what was the purpose of all that? He understood, but didn’t understand at the same time.

Was it just to get a harem? Was it just to aura farm? What was the purpose of all the power? Silas wasn’t foolish to believe that it was all for free. He wasn’t a kid because he knew that with great power comes great responsibility. And his power was beyond great at this point.

After his battle with Swef, he realized that. He was an SSS-Rank entity, but he was weak just as he was strong. Despite all that, he had awakened an ability that could summon Cupid to fight for him. Whether it was the real Cupid or not, it was a powerful ability.

Swef Ashi was powerful, but Silas was Cupid’s Heir. That was part of his strength. It might sound contradictory, but as he thought of all this, the question rang in his mind.

‘What is the purpose?’

The system wasn’t a mere coincidence; neither was it just a special choosing mechanism set up by Cupid. He remembered what he saw that day when the rift swallowed his parents. It wasn’t a normal rift. It was a Black Rift.

The authorities thought it was just a Blue Rift or a Green Rift, but they were wrong. It was the fabled Black Rift, and it closed as quickly as it opened after its inhabitants took what they came for.

He remembered the being standing behind the army of black beings: the crown made of two curved horns, the dark staff with a green orb, and the pair of glowing eyes. He remembered the mischievous smile and the wink, and the words the being said.

“Come for them if you can, oh heir of Cupid.”

He didn’t understand it then. All he knew was that he would save his parents, but after growing up and not awakening any ability, his vow turned into a mere dream. He had given up until the system arrived. The system also blurted out once that his mother wasn’t as normal as she seemed to be.

All this told something… something very deep. A deep secret that was beyond the universe itself.

So the system wasn’t a coincidence. There was a purpose, and he wanted to know that purpose. But as always, the system kept quiet when something sensitive came up.
