SSS Awakening: I am the First Legendary Mage

Chapter 159: Caster’s Location

Alex kept compressing the fire element mana.

The limit was passed, but no spark appeared. Alex’s senses remained focused as he observed the Fire-element Mana inside the Wild Orc’s wrist, realizing that this discovery opened countless possibilities.

The fire normally consumed its own fuel, but this method allowed Alex to preserve the Fire-element Mana while compressing it further. If he could control this process properly, he could create a highly pure fuel before lighting it with fire, potentially making his Fire Bullet much more powerful.

Alex was analyzing magic even in this desperate situation. His arm had already snapped, but he kept observing the Mana with a single-minded focus, ignoring the pain as he continued compressing the Fire-element Mana inside the Wild Orc’s wrist.

The Fire-element Mana became so condensed that it started producing heat waves. The Wild Orc roared in pain and increased the crushing force around Alex even further, causing another sharp crack as Alex’s thigh bone snapped under the pressure.

Alex compressed even more Fire-element Mana inside the Wild Orc’s wrist. The heat became stronger, and the flesh around the Mana began to change as the wrist started to melt.

Alex carefully observed the result and continued compressing the Mana. He wanted to understand how far he could push it, even though every increase made the situation more dangerous.

Then he felt it. He had crossed some kind of new limit.

The compressed Fire-element Mana suddenly exploded, and Alex’s consciousness went blank. When he came to, he was lying on the roof of a car that had been crushed beneath him, with blood and smoke around him and his clothes burned and partly gone.

His exposed skin was covered in burns, but the Wild Orc had suffered much worse. Its entire arm below the elbow was gone, and it was roaring in pain as it staggered nearby.

Alex looked at the damage for only a moment before confirming what he had suspected. He could make objects explode by compressing Fire-element Mana inside them.

He immediately reached for his inventory. He had put his Fire Wand away just before the explosion because he did not want to risk losing it, and now he pulled it back out and raised it toward the Wild Orc, and created a Fire Bullet.

The Fire Bullet shot forward and punched through the Wild Orc’s head. The creature stopped roaring and collapsed onto the ground, finally dying from the attack.

In the distance, Alex caught sight of Roan. The Warrior was in the air after using several footholds to jump higher, and he was already swinging his fist toward the Wild Orc below him.

His punch landed with full force and cracked the monster’s head, killing it before Roan began falling back toward the ground. However, before Alex could focus on him, eight new Wild Orcs appeared.

Alex jumped down from the car and landed heavily on the street. He did the emergency treatment of his body with mana, then used condensed mana to push the blood that was suffocating his windpipe out of the way, spatting the blood to the side and took a breath.

A Mana Sword formed in one hand, and he held the Fire Wand in the other hand. Alex increased the output of Advanced Battle Instinct Spell even further, pushing the pain to the background, and then focused on the approaching Wild Orcs.

Alex dashed forward to meet the Wild Orcs head-on. At the same time, he poured an insane amount of mana into his lungs and throat, forcing his voice to carry across the battlefield despite the chaos around him. "Roan, pay attention. I now know how to find the debuff caster!"

...

Noah sighed as he leaned against the wall of the room. The others were gathered nearby, keeping their voices low while they waited, and with Roan, Alex, and Alex’s team already gone, the room felt strangely quiet despite the danger outside.

Eve was sitting across from him when she suddenly asked, "Do you know anything about that guy, Alex?"

Noah thought for a moment before nodding. "I know he was one of the high scorers in our college, but I don’t really know much about him beyond that."

"How did he become friends with Robert and Tina?" Eve asked.

Noah shrugged. Robert and Tina had been quite well known around the college, while even Sophia was known by many because of her looks. Kevin was not exactly popular, but most people still knew him, so Alex had been the strange one in their group.

Eve had not even known Alex was there before everything started. Robert’s friend group had always been fairly large, but Alex had somehow remained outside everyone’s attention, and Noah could guess what Eve was thinking, so he only smiled wryly instead of blaming her.

Alex had always been withdrawn, and it did not help that everyone else in his group seemed to shine so brightly that he was easily overshadowed.

"You know, I still can’t believe it. Robert told me Alex could easily handle two or perhaps three Wild Orcs at once," Eve said.

"Yeah, that sounds unbelievable. Even after seeing Roan fight, I still can’t understand how someone is supposed to fight a Wild Orc," Noah replied.

Inwardly, Noah compared it to dancing. He had always been terrible at dancing, and whenever he stood on a stage and the music started, his mind would simply go blank, while the same feeling appeared whenever he saw a Wild Orc because he could not understand how it was possible to fight something so huge.

Noah sighed again. Let alone Alex, Tina, and Roan, even the others in Alex’s faction could fight or help against Wild Orcs, while Noah and the others could barely imagine doing the same.

A knock suddenly came from the door before a figure entered the room. It was the older man Roan had rescued, and he hesitated as he looked around, as if he was unsure whether he should speak.

Noah straightened and asked, "Sir, is there any problem?"

The older man looked at him with a troubled expression. "The cat belonging to that guy, Alex, is missing."
