The previous Spell was Disruption Mana Blade, while this evolution was Disruption Mana Saw. A saw possessed numerous tiny teeth that allowed it to cut more effectively, so Alex suspected the evolved Spell would use a wider range of vibration patterns to disrupt energy.

Alex examined the three options again before gradually eliminating them. Disruption Mana Saw Spell was the first to go, since expanding the frequency range was something he could eventually accomplish himself through practice.

Next was Mana Barrier Spell, which also seemed somewhat unnecessary. He could already create smaller barriers, and although the Spell might teach him how to maintain solid barriers beyond his current manipulation range, he suspected it would simply allow him to create barriers and then send them farther away.

That was something he could do already. Mana Vortex Spell, on the other hand, seemed capable of teaching him something fundamentally different.

If his understanding was correct, it would allow him to continuously manipulate mana beyond his maximum range. Alex had no idea how such a thing could be accomplished, which made the knowledge considerably more valuable than the other options.

The method used to construct the Spell was so ingenious that he couldn’t help wondering what kind of person would someone need to be to develop it without his Talent.

He had always known that mana could be manipulated through Will, but this Spell approached that principle from an entirely different direction. After understanding its underlying mechanism, Alex opened his eyes with an excited smile and immediately began experimenting.

Normally, Alex could freely control mana within his maximum manipulation range because his Will remained connected to it. However, once the mana traveled too far away, that connection would weaken, and his Will would eventually return to him, causing him to lose direct control.

This limitation could be partially overcome by infusing large amounts of Will into a Spell before releasing it. The Will would remain within the mana temporarily, allowing it to follow predetermined instructions even after leaving his manipulation range.

His Mana Bullets were a good example of this principle. Even after traveling beyond his maximum range, he could slightly adjust their trajectories through instructions embedded beforehand or by issuing commands while the remaining Will was still active.

Mana Vortex Spell expanded upon this concept in a surprisingly clever way. Instead of allowing his Will to gradually dissipate as the mana traveled farther away, the Spell created a method for continuously refreshing that connection.

Alex began releasing large quantities of mana around himself, infusing every portion with an unusually high amount of Will. He then directed the mana along numerous curved paths, causing countless wisps to move around him in different directions.

These paths repeatedly overlapped, gradually forming a spherical region around his body. Once the structure was established, Alex began vibrating the circulating mana according to the patterns required to produce Disruption Mana.

However, he made one important adjustment to those patterns. The alteration changed something fundamental. Rather than allowing the mana to continue traveling outward, it allowed each portion to eventually curve back toward him, much like a boomerang returning to its owner.

As soon as the mana returned within his manipulation range, Alex replenished the Will contained within it before sending it outward again. By repeating this process, he could continuously maintain dozens of circulating streams of Disruption Mana far beyond his previous range.

’So that’s how it works. I’m not actually extending my Will permanently; I’m repeatedly sending it outward and recovering it before the connection disappears,’ Alex realized, growing increasingly excited.

The disruption mana would keep vibrating due to his Will, and the vibration pattern made the mana come back to him like boomerang.

As soon as the mana came back to him, he input more Will into it and sent it away again.

This way, he was sending out dozens of boomerangs each second. Since the mana kept coming back to him, he could throw it far beyond his maximum range of mana manipulation.

He was so absorbed in experimenting that he barely noticed his companions reacting around him. Several surprised gasps reached his ears, followed by confused comments about why their abilities had suddenly stopped working properly.

Alex ignored them for the moment and concentrated on stabilizing the vortex. The circulating Disruption Mana was breaking apart the surrounding Origin Energy, converting portions of it into mana that he could absorb.

He took a deep breath, feeling fresh mana continuously entering his body and replenishing what he was spending. Despite the enormous amount of mana required to maintain the vortex, his reserves were recovering at an astonishing rate.
