SSS Awakening: I Can Devour Gods to Evolve My Goddesses
Chapter 152: The Undead Dragon Flute
Crystal Seven paused, then continued.
"There are three Demon Lords outside the Dragon Tomb as well. A Spider Demon, a Greater Demon, and a Balor."
A Dragon Tomb. Three Demon Lords.
Cassian’s eyes brightened.
Just when he needed points.
——
Outside an enormous burial ground, ancient pressure hung in the air. Three Demon Lords were talking.
"That crystal bat was strange."
"I couldn’t read its information. Perhaps it was a Lord with a transformation skill. Were the Crystalkin even among the races selected for this battlefield?"
"Some Lord must have just reached the second floor and sent a scout out. A bloodcrystal bat is Epic at most. Its Lord can’t be very strong."
The Spider Demon, Greater Demon, and Balor stood a hundred meters apart. Each had dozens of Epic Heroes and troops behind him.
The Greater Demon gave a cold laugh.
"Gorzath Fellmere died on the first floor. Before he died, he sent a warning about the Fenwick women. The fool. Still, a little caution won’t hurt."
The Balor lifted his five-meter greatsword.
"I’m more worried about you two than some unknown Lord. Spider Demons and Greater Demons are both treacherous. Once we’ve cleared the tomb, what’s to stop you from joining forces and killing me?"
The other two exchanged a glance.
Who said Balors were stupid?
"My dear Ballet," the Spider Demon said smoothly. "We’re Demon brothers. We look after one another. Why would we harm you?"
"We’re from the same Province," the Greater Demon added. "How would we explain it to the other Lords?"
If Demons spent less time stabbing one another in the back and starting civil wars, their Racial Ranking might have been a hundred places higher.
"I don’t care," Ballet said. "I’ve already told the elders. If I die, you two did it. Then you can answer to the Balors back in the main world."
Their smiles stiffened.
A blunt man could still find a blunt solution.
"We’ve been friends for years," the Spider Demon said, forcing another ugly smile. "Don’t say things like that."
"Let’s hope I don’t have to." Ballet stepped forward with his sword. "Start the fight. There’s a Bone Dragon Hero, eight ordinary Bone Dragons, and a mass of Undead servants in there. With the tomb strengthening them, they won’t be easy to kill."
The other two were about to agree when something changed.
"Communications sealed?"
Ballet stared, then swung his sword toward them.
"I knew it! You bastards!"
He roared at the two Demons.
"You’re supposed to burn the bridge after crossing it! We haven’t even crossed yet! Are you idiots?"
They had discovered the seal too. They stared at one another.
Hadn’t they agreed to use Ballet first?
Each saw the same accusation in the other’s eyes—and the same denial.
If neither of them had done it, was there another Lord nearby?
Impossible. Even an arrogant Divine Scion would hesitate to face all three of them together.
A voice came from the distant sky.
"I sealed the area. You’re such devoted Demon brothers. Don’t fight each other on my account. Fight me together."
They turned.
Twelve enormous shapes had appeared on the horizon.
"Dragons?"
"A Human Lord!"
"Three Dawnwings too!"
"How does a Human have Dragons and Dawnwings under his command?"
Their expressions grew serious.
Cassian looked down at them as his force arrived. He had bought a fresh Communication Seal Scroll through the Exchange and used it over the area.
"Good. They haven’t started yet."
The Demons and the Bone Dragons were all Battle Essence and Glory Points. He did not want them wasting any on one another.
The Spider Demon quickly weighed the forces before him and produced an unpleasant smile.
"Honored Human Lord. A battle between us would hurt both sides. Why not leave each other alone?"
"We’re Demons!" Ballet shouted. "Why are we asking a lowly Human for peace?"
"Shut up, Ballet," the Greater Demon snapped. "Don’t you see the twelve Dragons? We can kill him together, but what will it cost? We could lose any chance of finishing in the top ten!"
"Oh." Ballet considered that. "True."
"Hurt both sides?" Cassian smiled. "If you were strong enough to do that, wouldn’t I have waited until you’d fought the tomb’s guardians?"
His time was too valuable to waste.
"Nine. Open the fight."
"Yes, Lord."
The twelve Crystal Dragons beat their wings lightly.
Twelve Black Holes opened, catching every Demon within their pull.
"Black Hole! They’ve unlocked Black Hole!"
The Greater Demon tried to use Spatial Step. The force dragging at him would not let him escape.
The attack alone could not easily kill Epic Demons. More than a dozen unlucky troops at the centers were torn apart, but the rest were merely held back by the pull.
"Don’t panic!" the Spider Demon shouted. "We can’t move, but neither can the Dragons while they maintain the skill!"
The Stormlance, Praetorians, and seven Maidens from the second squad were already waiting beyond the pull.
At Cassian’s signal, the twelve Black Holes collapsed. His troops struck the instant the pull vanished.
Epic Demons fell beneath their weapons as though they were ordinary soldiers.
Crystal One shed her Dragon form and joined the attack. A long blade flowed from her arm.
The Greater Demon stared as the army he had been so proud of was slaughtered around him.
"Impossible! Even Legendary troops can’t be this strong! Are they above five Stars?"
He had barely finished when Crystal One cut him in half, before he could use Spatial Step again.
Cassian shook his head.
"The Black Holes were only to stop you using Spatial Step. Chasing you would have been a nuisance."
In less than half a minute, every Demon was dead, including all three Lords.
[Glory Points gained: 520,000]
[Battle Essence gained: 18,000,000]
"Not bad."
Cassian looked toward the burial ground.
"Keep going. Clear the tomb."
A Bone Dragon thrust its skull out of the enormous structure as it sensed the intruders. Its body was a hundred meters long, and dreadful power of death poured from it.
Eight smaller Bone Dragons rose into the air behind it. Countless Undead servants clawed their way out of the ground.
"Disarming Toast."
Cassian cast the art on the Bone Dragon Hero, directing the stolen Command toward Celia.
Fifteen minutes later, a notice appeared.
[Your Hero Celia Morcant has killed Skarnoth — Bone Dragon, Legendary One-Star Hero. Battle Essence +12,000,000 | Aether +900,000 | Undead Dragon Flute ×1 | Legendary Troop Sigil ×1]
"The Vein’s effects keep showing themselves since our Fortune rose."
Cassian was delighted. A single Bone Dragon Hero had given him both a Legendary Troop Sigil and equipment.
He opened the Undead Dragon Flute’s description.
"Another summoning item. Two Bone Dragons each time. Fewer than the Blood Chalice, but this one has no consumption cost."
The Legendary Troop Sigil went into his Inventory for now.
The notices continued.
[Unclaimed Wild Troop Building detected: Dragon Tomb.]
[Ignore / Destroy / Occupy?]
"Destroy."
Destroying a Wild or Domain Building always yielded resources, with a very small chance of producing its Blueprint.
There was only about a day left before they had to leave Glory Battlefield. Occupying the tomb would do him little good.
"Come on, Aether Vein. Don’t let me down when it counts."
