SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 779: Keep eating
Blood Reign giggled happily. "My liege, please call me with my new name now."
Damon let out a short laugh, though his eyes never left the massive devouring entity in front of him. "Little red, my darling, our fight is not over yet. We found this guy, but now we have to take his bloodline, and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy unless..."
He trailed off as his gaze sharpened, studying the creature for a few more seconds before making his move without hesitation.
Damon attacked immediately.
His strike was fast and decisive, carrying enough force to obliterate most opponents at this level. The attack went straight through and struck the massive, jelly-like body without any resistance, exactly as he had expected.
But the result was not what it should have been.
The very next second his attack made contact, the violent surge of blood energy did not explode outward the way it normally would when meeting resistance. It did not tear through the mass either, nor did it distort the creature’s body in any visible way.
Instead, it simply vanished. Completely. There was no trace of the attack at all.
Damon’s grin widened slowly, as if he had just confirmed a theory he had already formed. "I knew it." He folded his arms casually, though there was a dangerous glint in his eyes now. "So you really can absorb everything, huh? Even a dao attack like that just disappears."
Little Red did not respond this time, because even she understood the implication of what they were facing.
Damon clicked his tongue softly, then raised his hand again.
Another attack. Then another. Then another. Each one stronger than the last, each one refined, compressed, and packed with destructive intent and every single time, the same result!
All the attacks struck. They sank in but then they were gone. There was no explosion, no recoil and no damage at all. There was only silent consumption.
After a few more attempts, Damon finally lowered his hand, his expression no longer amused but thoughtful. "You have really awakened the full power of your bloodline fragment, haven’t you..."
There was also another thing. The creature did not look like it but it most definitely was B rank. In fact it should be peak B rank, nearing breakthrough to ascend. While it did not use any dao to attack, Damon could vividly sense a profound aura when it absorbed everything.
This was bad. Managing to grasp a dao related to the bloodline? That should be the reason why it was so powerful! It not only ended up using its bloodline to the limit but also developed a dao around it. Damon couldn’t help but praise its efforts. What an impressive creature!
"Alright... that’s enough testing."
He hovered there in silence, staring at the creature as it continued its slow, creeping expansion, completely indifferent to everything he had just thrown at it.
He clicked his tongue. Fighting with this sort of a creature could get annoying really fast. However, he did not care. He already a plan in his mind.
Little Red spoke quietly, "My liege... how do we even fight something like this?"
Damon didn’t answer immediately. He thought about it for a minute. "Fighting it is not easy. It’s going to involve some self-sacrifice."
He didn’t rush into another attack. Instead, he hovered there, watching the slow, creeping movement of the tar-like mass. The thing did not react to him at all. It continued spreading like nothing had happened.
Damon observed it for a few more second and then moved. "There is no use in hesitating anymore. You are it. Let’s go." He muttered to himself and raised his hand. The next second, the grey sky turned crimson and blood rain started pouring.
It wasn’t any ordinary blood rain. It was thick poisonous blood rain, capable of killing anything it comes in contact with.
Damon did not stop with that. He used the full power of his primordial mana core and his partially formed dao core. The blood rain intensified further. It looked as if endless torrential downpour was crashing down from the heavens, each drop thick, heavy, and saturated with poison.
The barren world began to hiss under the assault, the ground reacting as if it had suddenly been dragged into a corrosive nightmare.
But Damon paid no attention to the land. All of his focus remained on the creature.
The tar-like mass did exactly what he expected. It did not resist. It did not retreat. It simply consumed.
Every drop of blood rain that touched it vanished instantly, drawn into the massive body without even the slightest delay. The process was smooth, flawless, and terrifyingly efficient, as though the creature was designed for nothing but this single purpose.
Damon hovered in place, completely still, watching with narrowed eyes.
"Good," he murmured quietly. "Keep eating. Let me see how much poison can you keep eating?"
Damon had no doubt that the monstrosity could probably convert every attack into energy and consume it but even that should have a limit. When it comes down to it, was his poison stronger or was its dao of devouring stronger?
The torrential rain of poisoned blood continued to fall without pause. The tar-like mass continued to absorb everything exactly as before, its movements slow and inevitable, its process flawless and uninterrupted. Every drop that touched it vanished without a trace, pulled inward as if the creature was nothing more than a bottomless abyss.
But soon, a small flaw appeared.
In a remote corner of the massive creature, a small part started petrifying.
It was not obvious at first, and no ordinary observer would have noticed the change. However, Damon was watching it like a hawk so even that small change did not go unnoticed.
The petrified jelly then broke into dust, crumbling away silently.
"There it is." Damon smiled. It looked like in the end his poison had won out even though only marginally. But it was more than enough for him to take charge of the situation.
The perfect cycle of devour, refine, and convert had been broken, even if only in a small and isolated region.
