SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 787: Why don’t we all die together?
Damon did not know whether to laugh or cry. He had already guessed that something like this would happen, which was why he had taken such a big risk to go and get a bloodline upgrade. But now... the timing of it all... when he was so close...
"I guess it’s one of those days where shit just keeps piling on, huh..." He lightly chuckled.
He was anyway going to die. There was no doubt about it, but now he was probably going to lose some items on top of it. He was too tired to care about any of it right now. So he simply smiled and stared at the ten big guys surrounding him.
These were all old thugs who had lived for several decades at least. He wondered just how strong they were. They were also B ranks just like him, but Damon did not have any delusions that he would be able to fight against them easily.
His body continued to writhe in pain as he silently pondered over many things.
Meanwhile, the other side had weird expressions on their faces.
"Is he really suffering from a backlash or perhaps..." One old man mumbled as he looked around as if he were expecting a stronger enemy to pop out.
"Hmph. Don’t be naive, Cecil. You and I very well know the tutorial doesn’t have anything truly threatening."
"Old Cao, shut up. Our clan has also seen many tutorials in our time. What I am talking about is... an anomaly. Do you really think this particular tutorial would be simple? Otherwise, why would the esteemed Golden Tongue make this elaborate plan and send us all here?"
"Whatever. There is no use chit-chatting here. This brat is the threat, isn’t he? Let’s just end it and put a stop to all of this. Make sure to crush his soul completely."
Damon’s eyes widened in shock. Why did he not think of that? These assholes from the beginning prided themselves on being able to kill someone completely without any possibility of resurrection. Why did he think that he would be fine even if they killed him?
Shit! He wasn’t even thinking clearly, with his head muddled. The poison had already affected him so much. No. At this point, he shouldn’t try thinking at all. He should simply go all out ballistic on these old bitches.
They want to kill him and crush his soul? Do it if you can, motherfuckers!
Damon could no longer contact Blood Reign or the snake lady. He couldn’t even connect with his soul space. He had underestimated the power of La Rocha’s poison tremendously. But now that everything was already screwed up, how did it matter if he opened another poison vial?
Heck, he might just open two of them just to make sure that the job got done!
Damon’s head felt as if it were going to explode. It throbbed like something inside it was clawing to get out, each pulse dragging his thoughts further into chaos as the silver runes continued to spread without mercy.
A crooked smile stretched across his face, completely out of place for someone whose body was collapsing piece by piece. "Crush my soul... huh..." he repeated. "Then you better hurry the fuck up."
The old men froze for a fraction of a second. This was not the face of someone about to die. This was the face of someone who had nothing left to lose.
Old Cao’s eyes narrowed. "Something is wrong!"
"Yeah," Damon cut in, "Everything is wrong!" He laughed maniacally as he crushed two more poison vials without caring about anything.
"Body’s gone. Mind’s gone. Soul’s next, right? So what’s the point of holding back now?" He continued laughing, his laughter echoing in the wilderness. "Why don’t we all die together?"
He had already crushed the two vials, and red wisps of energy escaped. Damon waited for screams to echo, but to no avail. Nothing really happened. The old men only stared at him indifferently as if he were a drunkard spewing out nonsense.
Old Cao finally cleared his throat and awkwardly mumbled. "My mistake. This brat is already gone. Let’s just send him away." His gaze landed on Damon again as he clicked his tongue. "So pathetic. Die already." The next second, he raised his hand, and a ball of white energy shot forward.
"Not so fast, Old Cao. Why don’t I kill him?" Blocking his attack, another attack shot in from the side.
The others were also not idle. Every single one of the old men was an experienced clan elder, and they all knew how tutorial worlds worked. There were special rules inside the tutorial worlds that did not exist in the outside world.
Because of these special rules, there was a high chance that something might happen, something invaluable might drop to the person who landed the killing blow.
And the target this time wasn’t a simple one.
They had crossed worlds and lived as dormant fossils for decades just for this one person. Their God personally sent them here to keep an eye on him. How could this person be simple?
No one wanted to miss this golden opportunity. So the bunch of old men continued fighting with each other while on the side, Damon was wiggling on the ground like a worm, unable to bear the pain any longer.
"What.... What is happening... what happened to my poison? Why didn’t it work?" He was completely delirious. Did he fully lose his mind already? What the hell was going on? He couldn’t understand heads or tails of it.
His poison vial had worked perfectly in the other world, but in here, it somehow did not even create a spark? What the heck? Maybe La Rocha gave me a couple of faulty ones?
Refusing to accept it, he took out a few more vials and crushed them one after the other. Each vial contained a poison that should have shaken up this entire world. Heck, even destroyed this entire world, but nothing happened at all?
"How can something strong enough to take care of an A rank simply...disappear?"
Damon watched in pure disbelief as another vial shattered uselessly in his grip. The faint traces of poison dispersed into the air like mist and then vanished.
"Shit. Now I am screwed."
As he lay helplessly writhing in pain on the ground, finally, one stray attack came for him. He was already on the death’s door. All that was required was a little push, and now that was here. It was time to die.
Wincing in pain, Damon closed his eyes when the fire serpent attack landed on him. A flaming serpent roared and hissed as it tore through his body with violent force, its blazing form coiling around him as if it had finally found prey too weak to resist.
The mere impact should have ended him. It should have burned him to ash, devoured what little remained of his body, and erased him completely from existence.
But... the flaming serpent... frozen mid-motion, its blazing body wrapped around him, its jaws inches away from tearing into his neck, completely vanished.
Damon’s eyes snapped open, suddenly feeling a gush of energy entering his body. And just like that, one silver rune on his neck disappeared.
