SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 819: You cannot leave today
With a calm smile, Aiden was about to step out when suddenly the spatial tear rippled and closed shut. Aiden instantly snapped to look at Damon, who was grinning ear to ear. “You cannot leave today.” Damon roared as he dealt with the last of the knights.
“Impossible.” This time Aiden was truly shocked. Controlling spatial energy and spatial ruptures were not easy. Time and space were two elements that were notoriously difficult to master.
Even gods who devoted thousands of years to studying them could struggle to interfere with a passage created by a powerful treasure.
And Damon had closed his as though he were shutting a fucking door.
Aiden reached for the treasure again. The small jade token in his palm glowed. A thin line appeared in the space beside him, widening just enough to reveal the darkness beyond.
Damon closed his fingers. The line vanished. A crack ran across the token. Aiden stared at it.
“Try again,” Damon said. The last golden knight collapsed behind him. Blood tendrils pulled the light from its broken armor while Damon walked past it, never taking his eyes off Aiden. “You must have another one. You’ve had a spare for everything else.”
Aiden’s expression stiffened. “You cannot possibly have comprehended the spatial Dao in this amount of time.”
Damon tilted his head. “Then I suppose you should be able to leave.”
Seeing Aiden try again and again, Damon laughed. The guy was not wrong to be shocked. If he had followed his first plan, then none of this would have happened. However, at the last moment, Damon had changed his plan.
Devouring one God after another and becoming powerful was indeed a good plan, but Damon had found a better strategy. Origin energy might be all-powerful, but from beginning to end, everything about his power had always revolved around his bloodline.
So he decided to return to his roots. He had devoured countless beasts and monsters and gathered insights bit by bit, as he had always done.
Gods are beings who have attained mastery over their Dao, but other living creatures were not inferior, especially those who were on the verge of death. Damon devoured all of their skills, abilities, and stats over and over until he had amassed enough of them to make even a God jealous.
He was barely getting started. He could have done more provided he had time, but to deal with this group, what he had was more than enough.
The gods had mistaken his earlier struggles for the limit of his strength. In truth, Damon had been trying to use an absurd number of new abilities without tearing himself apart.
Aiden crushed the damaged token. Space shuddered around his hand, but Damon casually pressed down with his palm. The disturbance flattened, leaving broken pieces of jade drifting between them.
Aiden’s face twitched.
“Finished?” Damon asked.
“You cannot keep me here forever.”
“Forever? Buddy, you’re being very optimistic about how long this conversation is going to last.”
Damon reached toward him. Suddenly, a spatial tear ripped open between them.
Damon stopped. This one hadn’t come from Aiden’s hand. He pressed his will against its edges, trying to force them shut. The opening narrowed slightly, then held. Something on the other side pushed back.
Aiden immediately moved toward it. Damon caught him by the throat. “Don’t get excited.” He dragged Aiden away as the tear widened, revealing a stretch of darkness that even his divine senses struggled to penetrate.
Then a hand emerged. It was pale, with long fingers and a golden ring around the thumb. The hand reached toward Aiden, ignoring Damon entirely.
Damon struck it. Their palms collided. The force hurled Aiden sideways in his grip and sent cracks racing through the surrounding space. Behind Damon, crimson barriers sprang up around his family.
The hand withdrew a few inches. Damon looked down at his own palm. The skin had split. A drop of blood drifted from his fingers before he drew it back.
“Well,” a voice said from beyond the tear. “That explains the delay.”
A man stepped through. He wore plain gray robes, and his hair hung loose around a face that appeared neither young nor old. His gaze passed over the abandoned weapons, the lingering divine blood, and the avatars returning to Damon.
He paused when he saw the Gods gathered behind him. Then he looked at Aiden and the only remaining God, the elderly guy.
“A corrupted God, huh? Interesting. It’s been a while since we have had one of you.”
At the same time, another tear ripped open. This time the silver-eyed God stepped out. “Hmmm. It looks like I am late to the party. Daoist Golden Trigram, I haven’t seen you in a while. Are you finally out of your secluded training?” He turned to the other God and smiled.
“Yes, I didn’t expect to see you here, Daoist Silver Eye. Has the commotion reached your territory as well?”
Silver Eye glanced at the divine blood drifting around them. “Several gods dying in succession tends to attract attention. I thought someone had started a war.”
“Someone certainly tried.”
Golden Trigram’s gaze settled on Aiden. Aiden’s face changed and his head turned to look down. Golden Trigram snorted and the next moment, Aiden disappeared from Damon’s grasp and appeared next to him.
“You have created a big mess here. Its once again my responsibility to clean it up.”
Silver Eye laughed. “Don’t be so harsh daoist. How could it be his fault? If anything its the fault of my useless disciple here.” The elderly God quietly moved to Silver eye’s side. He did not dare say anything here.
“We have been monitoring this abomination for a while now. It is the incompetence of my subordinates to let the situation go out of control like this. We will take care of this.” Silver eye laughed.
Though they were speaking courteously to each other, it was very clear what was happening. The two supreme Gods were essentially claiming their ownership of the corrupted.
Damon looked between the two Gods. They were chatting comfortably without even sparing him a single glance. They were already discussing sharing him like he was a loot.
And it did not stop with just these two. Behind these two Gods, an entire army of Gods started arriving one after the other.
In a couple of minutes, about three hundred Gods had arrived. Damon did not even know that there were so many Gods.
However, he was not nervous. His heart was racing, but he silently grinned. He could feel the power from these two Gods and many of the other Gods.
Some were comparable to the ones he had just devoured. Others made the space around them bend simply by standing there. And above them all stood Golden Trigram and Silver Eye, still discussing who had the greater claim over him.
Damon glanced at his empty hand. He hadn’t even felt Aiden leave.
His spatial senses had remained active throughout their conversation, yet Golden Trigram had taken the bastard without opening a passage or breaking through his grip. Whatever he had done, Damon hadn’t understood it.
These Gods were not like the others. They were on a completely different level. He had a feeling that fighting right now might prove extremely troublesome.
They had him perfectly cornered. They probably thought he was at the end of his wits. There really shouldn’t be anything he could do against beings like this despite being a God himself.
But they were all wrong. What they did not know was that Damon had already planned for something like this to happen.
They had cornered him perfectly but he had no plans to act like a cornered rat. He had already thought about this sort of outcome. He only just became a God. He would be foolish to think that he would be the strongest in the entire cosmos after only just ascending to Godhood.
If these Gods wanted to slaughter him once and for all, then he knew exactly what he had to do to give them a taste of their medicine.
“Hubby…” Aurora mentally contacted him, her voice full of worry.
Damon turned to smile at her and the rest of his family. Then without warning he sent them all back inside his inner world. At the same time, he suddenly gathered all of the origin energy he had devoured and combined it with the one spatial skill he had recently acquired.
