SSS-Rank Blessing: I Can Copy Abilities
Chapter 18: They Thought It’s Impossible
"This is really a big problem." Eveline placed her pouch of money on the table before sitting down.
The two of them were back at the inn now after a long day at work. After Caelan brought it up earlier, they both realized how badly they needed money. And on top of that, they needed it as soon as possible.
They already had a way to produce something valuable, but the problem was finding enough people who were willing to buy it.
Just like their options, they could either bring the crops to a bigger town or somehow convince people from outside the village to come here. The thing was, neither option sounded particularly easy.
"Why is making money so complicated?" Caelan leaned back on the bed and sighed.
They had been staying at the same inn for a week now. They had been using the same room every day, eating their meals together, and sleeping in the same bed.
Since they were staying for so long, they had even managed to bargain with the innkeeper for a cheaper room price. Instead of paying the usual amount for each night, they agreed on a lower price because they were staying for several days.
He used to earn a sufficient amount of money on earth by doing some blue-collar job, so it wasn’t really something he used to worry about.
But now... he could only sigh about it.
"Because if it were easy, everyone would be rich." Eveline tried to cheer him up, but it was just futile.
"That doesn’t make me feel any better."
She laughed quietly at it. The two of them continued discussing their options for a while. Caelan tried to come up with something that could solve their problem without making things even more complicated.
But no matter how much they thought about it, they couldn’t find an answer.
Eventually, Caelan let out a long sigh.
"Let’s just think about it tomorrow."
"Yeah. We’ve been thinking about it for hours already." Eveline nodded as well.
The two of them settled onto the bed already, ready to end the day. They quickly fell asleep out of tiredness. When they woke up again, they just prepared a little and went to work.
They continued working at the farm every day, helping with the crops and earning their share from the owner. Eveline’s ability continued to produce high-quality crops, and the farm’s business was doing better than ever.
After several days of repeating the same conversation, they eventually stopped trying to find an answer. They gave up after realizing it would be too hard.
One morning, Caelan and Eveline were once again walking through the village. They had decided to eat breakfast outside instead of the inn again.
It was only their 2nd week around the place, but they had already tried a ridiculous number of food stalls around the village. They tried everything from different kinds of meat skewers to noodles.
But today, they decided to try something different. Instead of eating near the center of the village, they walked farther away from it. It was supposed to be their day off too, so they had a lot of time.
They might have walked far, but the good thing was that it was cheap.
"This place looks nice," Eveline said after they eventually found a small food stall sitting near the side of the road.
It wasn’t anything impressive. It was just a simple wooden stall with a few tables and chairs in front of it.
"Yup," Caelan looked around before nodding. "It is pretty quiet."
They ordered their breakfast and sat down at one of the tables. A few minutes later, their food arrived.
"Finally." Caelan immediately picked up his spoon to eat.
"You really are hungry." Eveline laughed as she teasingly rolled back her eyes. They had gotten closer now after 2 weeks of actually being close together.
The two began eating while casually talking about their plans for the day. It’s their first day off, and with a little money to spare, maybe they can go visit a different place.
The morning was quiet, the food was good, and there was nothing they needed to worry about. They thought today was the day.
"HEY!" Suddenly, a loud voice came from somewhere nearby.
The two momentarily stopped as their heads turned around.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Another shout followed, but this time, it sounded like it came from another person.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Another shout followed, but this time, it sounded like it came from another person.
"Give it to us!"
"I already told you, I don’t have anything!"
"Then we’ll find it ourselves!"
The voices quickly became louder.
"What are they fighting about?" Caelan slowly put down his spoon as his brows formed a straight line.
"I don’t know," Eveline answered as she looked in the direction of the voices.
Another loud bang echoed through the street, but they couldn’t see anything in their vision. A group of people was also forming ahead, making it harder.
"I’m just going to take a look." Caelan could probably ignore it, but sometimes he couldn’t control being nosy.
"Caelan..."
"Don’t worry, I won’t get involved." Caelan stood up from his seat. His curiosity was itching so much that he needed to scratch it.
"I’ll just look." He quickly walked toward the source of the commotion, with Eveline having no choice but to follow behind him.
As they got closer, the crowd around the area became thicker too. Caelan had to move past several people before he finally saw what was happening.
His expression immediately changed when he saw two men standing in the middle of the street. Both of them looked rough; their clothes were dirty, and their faces were bruised and ashed.
And in front of them was an old man. He was much smaller, and he was even currently holding onto a wooden cane with both hands.
