SSS-Rank Blessing: I Can Copy Abilities
Chapter 49: Something To Be Busy
After Jack left, Caelan spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about how he should approach his first request. Although gathering information sounded simple enough, he still didn’t know where to start.
Fortunately, Jack promised to send some information to Theo over tomorrow with whatever information they already had about the Renswort family.
When he heard that, he was a little relieved.
Caelan was alone for a couple of hours in his own room before Eveline arrived. She opened the door and stepped inside.
"Oh, you’re back already?" A smile immediately crossed his face when he saw her.
"Just now." Eveline nodded before closing the door behind her. "I thought I’d come see what you were doing before I go to my room."
"Haha! What else would I be doing?" Caelan laughed as he watched her walk toward him. "I’ve just been resting here for the past few hours." He muttered as he pointed at his bed.
"That’s what I thought." Eveline smiled before taking a seat on the chair beside his bed.
"Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing." She laughed softly. "It’s just that you seem to have a lot of free time lately now that you’re not helping me." Her eyes squinted a little, almost a glare.
"Well, thank you because I am indeed so free now," Caelan gave her a teasing smile. "Anyway, how was your day?"
"It was good. Just a little tiring."
"Oh? Did something happen?"
"Nothing bad. I just had a lot of things to prepare at the warehouse today." Eveline leaned back against the chair and let out a small, tired sigh. "I didn’t realize how much work it would be to use my ability."
"Well, that’s what happens when you start running a business." Caelan chuckled when he heard that.
"I know." Eveline nodded before smiling. "But I actually like it. It’s just that I didn’t expect to be this tired by the end of the day."
She then began telling him about what happened at the warehouse. Apparently, Eveline had been preparing another large batch of crops for Alden’s next shipment, and she had spent most of the afternoon checking the crates and making sure everything was properly arranged.
Since they were now producing much larger quantities, there were also more things to consider than before.
Oh, and aside from that Eveline also hired two people to help her with the work after Caelan stepped away.
"At first, I thought I only needed to use my ability, and everything would be fine," Eveline admitted. That was really her thinking then.
"But now I have to think about how much we should prepare, where to put everything, and whether we have enough space."
"Well, you’re doing pretty well from what I’ve seen." Caelan gave her a reassuring smile.
"You think so?"
"Of course." Caelan nodded. "Besides, Alden’s there to help you with the things you don’t know yet."
"That’s true." Eveline smiled at his words. Although she was tired, Caelan could tell that she was genuinely enjoying what she was doing.
It was actually nice to see her like this. Compared to when they first met, Eveline was now more comfortable making decisions on her own. She was also slowly becoming more confident, and Caelan was happy about that.
"Oh, right. Speaking of being busy, I think I’ll be pretty busy for the next few days too," Caelan suddenly mentioned as he leaned back against his bed.
"Hm?" Eveline looked at him curiously. "Oh? You finally found something to do?"
"Yeah, I decided to start helping out with the organization," he explained. "Since I’m technically their leader now, I figured I should learn more about what they actually do."
"Oh, the Night?"
"Yeah." Caelan nodded. "I’ve been leaving most of the work to Jack and the others, so I thought it would be nice to get involved once in a while."
"I see." Eveline nodded thoughtfully before smiling. "Well, I think that’s pretty nice."
"Right?"
"Yeah. Since you’re their leader, I think it’s good that you want to learn more about them."
"Exactly!" Caelan grinned, pleased that she understood his reasoning.
Eveline seemed satisfied with his answer. She didn’t ask any further questions about what he would be doing, which Caelan was honestly a little relieved about.
"Then I guess we’ll both be busy for the next few days," she said with a small smile.
"Looks like it."
The two continued talking for a while. Eveline told him a few more things about the warehouse, while Caelan shared some of the places he had seen while walking around the capital. After all, that was all he was doing in the morning.
They weren’t talking about important things, but Caelan still found himself enjoying their conversation. It was actually nice to just talk about nonsense once in a while. It allowed him and Eveline to grow closer too.
Eventually, after an hour or two of talking, Eveline covered her mouth as she let out a big yawn.
"Ah... I guess I really should go to bed."
"Yeah. You look like you’re about to fall asleep right there." Caelan smiled.
Eveline gave him a look before standing up from the chair. "Anyway, I’ll see you tomorrow."
"Alright. Get some rest."
"You too. Don’t stay up too late."
"Haha! Yes, ma’am."
Eveline laughed at his response before walking toward the door. However, just before leaving, she turned around and looked at him again.
"Good night, Caelan."
"Good night, Eveline."
With one last smile, she stepped outside and closed the door behind her. Caelan remained seated for a moment before letting out a small sigh.
"Well, she seems to be doing pretty well."
He was glad that Eveline was enjoying her work, even if it meant she came back exhausted every evening. At least she had something she genuinely wanted to do.
Caelan leaned back against his bed and looked toward the ceiling. As for him, he finally had something to keep himself busy too.
