SSS Rank Class Awakening: My Army Has No End
Chapter 1: The Second Generation! Awakening Day!
Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Second Generation! Awakening Day!
"Young Master, it’s seven o’clock."
Two light knocks came from outside the door.
Nathaniel Beaumont opened his eyes.
He looked at the chandelier on the ceiling.
It was made of crystal and was quite large. The morning sunlight shone through the gaps in the curtains, refracting tiny pieces of light across the crystal.
The mattress beneath him was very soft; he sank halfway into it. The quilt was made of silk, sliding smoothly against his skin.
Nathaniel took a breath.
There was a faint scent of incense in the air, sandalwood.
He sat up and rubbed his hair.
Today was Monday.
It was also the most important day of his life.
The day of the Class Awakening.
Nathaniel lifted the quilt and stepped onto the carpet.
The carpet was also soft, pure wool, making almost no sound beneath his feet.
He walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window and pressed the switch on the wall.
The heavy curtains slowly pulled apart to both sides.
Dazzling sunlight flooded in all at once.
Nathaniel squinted, adjusting for a moment.
Outside the window was a neatly trimmed lawn. In the distance was a fountain, and further beyond it was the scenery of Westmere.
This was the Cedar Heights Estate.
People who lived here were either wealthy or powerful.
Westmere had three pillars, the three strongest guardians of the city, and Nathaniel’s parents held two of those seats.
Both were powerhouses above Level 400.
That was a height most people wouldn’t even dare to imagine.
Nathaniel looked down at his palms.
His palms were fair, the lines clear, with no calluses at all.
These were the hands of a rich young master.
"I must awaken a decent class."
"At the very least, I can’t embarrass Mom and Dad."
Nathaniel thought to himself.
He turned and walked into the bathroom.
In the mirror was a young, handsome face, with a calm expression between his brows.
After washing up, he changed into his school uniform.
A white shirt and black trousers, the fabric crisp and the cut fitting perfectly.
Nathaniel adjusted his collar in the mirror.
He pushed the door open and went out.
The old butler was standing at the door, wearing a tuxedo, his hair combed meticulously. Although his temples were gray, he was in high spirits.
"Young Master, breakfast is ready."
After finishing breakfast, Nathaniel walked to the villa entrance.
A black stretch limousine was parked there, its body pitch-black and shiny, like a mirror.
A teenager stood by the car.
He was about the same height as Nathaniel, with slightly dark skin, and flashed a mouthful of white teeth when he smiled.
That was Daniel Mercer, the old butler’s son.
He was also the friend Nathaniel had played with since childhood.
"Brother Nathan!"
Daniel chuckled and opened the car door for Nathaniel.
The two of them sat in the back row.
The car started and drove smoothly out of Cedar Heights Estate.
It was very quiet in the car; the soundproofing was excellent, and one couldn’t hear the wind outside.
Daniel shifted around on the leather seat, appearing a bit restless.
Nathaniel glanced at him.
"Are you nervous?"
"How could I not be, Brother Nathan?"
Daniel made a bitter face, rubbing his hands on his knees.
"This is the Awakening. If I awaken a Life Class, like a chef or tailor, my life will be over. I’ll only be able to go home, inherit my dad’s mantle, and be a butler for you."
Nathaniel smiled.
"There’s nothing wrong with being a butler. Look at your father; he’s well-respected."
"That’s different."
Daniel shook his head, his eyes filled with longing.
"In this world, only those with a Combat Class are superior. I want to go to the front lines, kill the alien races, level up, and get stronger."
He paused.
"I also want to see what the scenery is like above Level 100."
In this world, everyone could awaken a class.
Classes were divided into many types.
Combat, Support, and Life.
All classes could gain experience points and level up by killing monsters.
The higher the level, the greater the strength.
This was also the fundamental way humanity resisted the invasion of alien races.
Nathaniel leaned back against the seat, watching the trees fly backward outside the window.
"I also want to awaken a Combat Class."
Although his family was powerful and his parents were top-tier powerhouses, even if he were a good-for-nothing, he could live a life of comfort without worry.
But who wouldn’t want to possess power?
Especially in a world where great power belonged to the individual.
Only when one was strong oneself was it true strength.
Daniel turned his head and looked at Nathaniel.
In his eyes, Nathaniel was always so calm.
"Brother Nathan, you’ll definitely be fine."
Daniel said with certainty.
"Uncle and Aunt are both Level 400 big shots. The genes are right there. I read in a book that this Awakening thing has a lot to do with genetics. You’ll definitely awaken a Hidden Class or a powerful DPS class."
"Anyway, it’ll definitely be stronger than mine."
Daniel sighed, then became full of hope again.
"If I could just awaken as a Warrior, that would be enough. Even a Shield Warrior would be fine; they can tank and attack."
The car drove very steadily.
Not long after, the school gate of Westmere No. 1 Academy appeared in his line of sight.
This was the best middle school in Westmere.
Those who could get in here were either top students or came from prominent families.
Many luxury cars were already parked at the entrance.
Nathaniel and Daniel got out of the car.
People were coming and going at the school gate, and students wearing the same uniforms were walking in twos and threes.
Everyone’s face was filled with excitement and nervousness.
"Nathaniel!"
"Morning, Young Master Beaumont!"
"Good morning, Nathan!"
As he walked along, people kept greeting him.
Nathaniel wore a polite smile on his face.
"Morning."
"Hello."
He responded to each one, nodding in acknowledgment.
His pace didn’t stop, but it didn’t seem perfunctory either.
The two walked into the classroom of Class 2, Grade 3.
Many people were already sitting in the classroom, and it was noisy.
Usually, everyone would chat about games or celebrities, but today, there was only one topic.
Awakening.
Nathaniel had just walked to his seat and hadn’t sat down yet.
"Nathaniel!"
A voice came from behind.
The voice was quite loud, with a hint of provocation.
The classroom instantly went quiet.
Many people turned to look.
The one speaking was a tall boy with slicked-back hair, thick eyebrows, and round, wide eyes.
That was Julian Rook.
Nathaniel turned around and looked at him.
Julian walked up to Nathaniel in a few steps, his chin slightly raised.
"Today is the day of the Awakening."
Julian stared into Nathaniel’s eyes.
"In past exams, I was always a few points behind you. That was theory, just rote memorization."
He snorted.
"But the Awakening is different. This depends on talent and bloodline."
Julian’s father was the third pillar of Westmere.
He was also a Level 400 powerhouse.
The two families were old friends, and they were also rivals.
Julian had liked to compare himself with Nathaniel since childhood.
Comparing grades, sports, and who received more love letters.
Unfortunately, he had never won.
Nathaniel looked at Julian’s tense face and found it a bit amusing.
"So what?"
Nathaniel’s tone was flat.
"So, today I will definitely beat you."
Julian clenched his fists, his voice rising a few notches.
"I can feel it. The power within me is restless. The class I awaken will definitely be stronger than yours."
Nathaniel pulled out his chair and sat down.
"Julian."
Nathaniel called his name.
"You haven’t won before."
Nathaniel paused.
"And you won’t win in the future, either."
The tone was very light, as if stating a fact.
Like the sun rising from the east or water flowing downward.
